Seconded so much on everything not being overtly exaggerated with multiple shots, slow motion, angles, etc. Also, so far, there isn't OST blasting in the foreground but more so much more lightly in the background. I don't know how long that will hold though. But so far, it's nice.

But yeah I also felt so bad for them, even though I thought they escaped. Because it's so sad. It's sad enough for Tian Hao, but those cute little things would be so heartbroken too seeing, knowing what happened.

Yeah. I haven't even watched BTS and I understood within a few episodes that she was sounding like that in order to portray and emphasize both her age and her weakness. She is supposed to be a weak plant in a pot.

I did watch Moonlight some years back, and I don't know if her voice annoyed me then or not. So yeah....

The best part of this drama is how it portrays the fact that who the immortal realm call demons and demon realm are not necessarily the bad guys and even the blame for the start of the feud lie with the immortals.

Yeah. I actually read the novel recently and it was really good. This is more light hearted with many changes, and I can't think of any equivalent in the novel to those cute little things. XD

I just started watching. I have a question. What are those little things that are going to Tian Hao's wedding in first episode? I haven't watched past ep 1 so I don't know if they're explained in later episodes.

He wouldn't need to feel bad about the people because he was ensured that the people would not be affected. And the drama portrayed as well. Soldiers past his battalion, yes. But not the people, the people were treated well and if anything did not suffer further, which was his reasoning for defecting.

But my point wasn't about him, but rather the idea that his character would be subject to censorship. I'm just saying it passed review, and while fan/antis whatever discussion may have scared the producers, and maybe further talk would not be good. I'm just saying the history of the CPC/PRC itself has a very similar examples, hence one reason it probably passed review in the first place. That is one of the major factors of how they won the Civil War. So it's not really an antithesis to the CPC. However it does make sense that if people would make it an issue then producers would play it safe rather than fuel the discussion and risk controversy and scrutiny.

And further more, whatever cut scenes, whatever has aired has already shown him making the correct decision and now ruling as emperor for generations. So in terms of the story that is still the end result and it was still shown.

But in the history of the 20th Century Chinese Civil War, I've read cases of exactly that happening? ROC/National soldiers defecting or lay down for the Communists, and that too for some of the same reasons as why YQY did so, especially regarding how his soldiers were treated.

In terms of the story here, it was once one kingdom which was reunited. So it's not really like it's foreign invaders.

Yeah, LBFAD is more so a a work of art, and other than costumes I think it comes on top when it comes to creative visuals. I don't know if something like that can happen again because of how long they prepared for it pre-production.

The opening credits alone, even when I was eager to get to the episode I would stop myself from FFing all of it because it was so beautiful, could never get tired of it.

It's easy to say LBFAD is more simple and TTEOTM is more dark but you have to look at the world LBFAD built. The demon realm was the Moon Kingdom. Not devils and not under an ancient evil god, but the strongest in the demon realm (and all three realms) was DFQC, the Demon King.

As the story goes on, it establishes that the immortals were the ones who betrayed Moon Kingdom first and what made DFQC into what he is was the desire of the Moon Kingdom (which after DFQC's death split up into different factions) to protect their territory from further encroaching Immortals.

Orchid is the immortal goddess engaged to marry God of War but she is from a neutral tribe. (Even before Orchid was taken to Moon Kingdom by DFQC, while she viewed the other side as bad, she never needlessly betrayed or revealed identity or location of DFQC--because this was her characteristic from her tribe, even if she didn't know.)

In the end, the 'Demon King' and Fairy get together and stay together. DFQC never becomes part of the 'Immortal' realm (I put it in quotes because it's not just the heavenly immortals that are immortal, but whatever) in order to get this happy ending. His throne in the Moon Kingdom was held by his brother waiting for him to revive and take his rightful place. Whether or not DFQC becomes King of the Moon Kingdom, he is still DFQC of the Moon Kingdom of what the Immortals called the demon realm. They brokered a peace between the two realms which lasted at least till he came back.

This change of landscape in an Xianxia is not insignificant. If you look at it as a romance story sure. But if you look at it from the lens that those who were called demons by the Immortal realm were not automatically bad or even the ones initially in the wrong in their millennia-long conflict, which then continued in a continuous cycle with each side going after the other...etc.

So you have the demon realm that is not one-dimensional and just portrayed as the bad guys and villains. And you have the happy ending of the couple from the opposing realms while maintaining their respective identities.

Before, as far as I know, there would usually be one but not the other. Immortals were always shown as hypocrites and what not. But a cross-love having a happy ending as themselves? Not so much.

And on another note, the secondary villain is shown in a somewhat-sympathetic light and given a noble death and given respect by the other characters even after his death. So they had characters who were given depth and explanation and even sympathetic scenes when they were villains.

For me it will depend on the ending. But on the reddit thread posted in discussions one of the replies said there is a progression from The Untamed, LBFAD to TTEOTM, and though I haven't seen The Untamed, I have seen LBFAD and I would agree. It's not about romance but about pushing boundaries and changing the landscape and for that LBFAD wasn't as simple a story as people as making it, and TTEOTM is the next step in revolutionizing the genre , imo. I will need to watch The Untamed at some point.

And for that you have to look at the story background and the ending of the characters.

I don't know I haven't seen any of the trailers. But I did read in comments for your second question. Master trusts him till the end, but TTJ will have to kill master to stop him from becoming a demon. Don't know who will believe him. My guess is NB and GYJW

But DM is shady as hell. Does he know know that if CJM dies with the devil-bone, DG will awaken. Or is he not aware of it, and hopes to kill CJM and become devil-god himself.

Also, these people aren't thinking anything through. Do they not know of the devil-bone, and wonder why there's only the crossbow in him when he should be born with the devil-bone?

Another thing. Ep 34 shows LSS father didn't seem to know who TTJ was even though earlier CJM's teacher had asked him 'you know who he is, right' But like they knew he was king of Jin, the emperor Tantai Jin--from the way NB addressed him and how TTJ told them he knew NB. At first I was like, let's wait and see if they know the identity of CJM. But now that LSS' father is implied not to have known...

Do these people not read up on history, then? Or maybe the exact details on how TTJ reunited the kingdoms haven't been passed down through the generations. Even so.... there would still be spoken folklore and legends passed down amongst some people.
