This has been making me a little mental: MDL has the wrong name for the daughter. They spell it Yi Na but it should be spelled I-na the way it is in the Netflix subtitles. In Korean it's spelled 이나, 이 sounds like ee not yee. I hope people start spelling it correctly, my eye is starting to twitch every time I see it wrong.
whoever sees this comment, before i begin the series, is it actually worth 8.4 stars or is it criminally underrated?
I hate MDL ratings so I won't say what it's worth but for me it's on track to be the best drama of the year (won't know for sure until it finishes and we find out if it sticks the landing). It has complex & interesting characters, a tight plot that makes sense with no filler or dead spots, creative cinematography and one of the best OSTs I've ever heard.
Okay.. so, I've just now started the show. Just finished ep 2, and am confused about this FL. I'm the type that…
Don't worry about liking her yet. You're not supposed to at this point of the story. She does get better and you eventually get an explanation for why she's behaving the way she is. It's really well done so I hate to spoil it for you more than that.
Atypical Family is in the Netflix top 10 list for non English series so it's definitely popular, it's just that…
I'd watch regardless of how popular it is but I do love seeing innovative storytelling getting recognition and gaining an audience.
It's a complex story told extremely well but complex stories are hard to break down into 30 second clips. I think it's telling that most of the fan edits are about Ina's romance which to me is the most conventional part of the story.
TAF is the only title on my Currently Watching now. A lot of series/movies on my Plan to Watch but because of…
If you're open to Thai BLs, Be My Favorite is fantastic. They kept the time slips very simple and the story is about the ML lead maturing and taking responsibility for his life. The romance is swoony. I absolutely loved it.
this is way better than lovely runner imo, I'm confused why is no one talking about it
Atypical Family is in the Netflix top 10 list for non English series so it's definitely popular, it's just that the fan base is mostly not hyperventilating on TikTok and Twitter. I've noticed that the number of people talking about it on Reddit is increasing every week and now that Lovely Runner is done I think a lot more people will start the show
I agree with everything you wrote. Just wanted to add that I cannot believe they used the truck of doom to take out the killer. That was the laziest writing I've seen in ages. And SJ and Sol weren't even there when it happened after everything they went through over four timeskips to avoid him.
Nice of the series to show character behaviours from Dr. Ter that suggest he's a conflicted but perhaps narcissistic…
I don't think the show was villainizing him for turning down Wandee, it was because he asked him to give up the scholarship by playing on his feelings for him.
This is such a hopeless drama because think about it.. what it is saying is, things have happened...they are already…
It's very purposeful, the drama is saying that superpowers are meaningless without care and love and empathy. The most touching moments Gwiju has had with the female lead are his small acts of kindness like tying her shoelace and bringing back the shaved ice. It's not about big showy moments or rescuing people, that's a trap he's put himself into. You see that with Bok Eomma as well, she's been so fixated on power that she's lost her humanity and her ability to see her children for who they really are. Human beings don't necessarily have a lot of control over their lives but they can always choose to be kind.
I don't like something about the main actress. She seems stiff, I somehow can't connect with her character, her…
She doesn't do vulnerability the way other actresses do. I had trouble with it too at first but now I kind of appreciate it because we're at a very emotional part of the story and when she does let her guard down it lands hard.
Wow. I love this drama and it kills me how it is getting such negative comments and reviews on rotten tomatoes…
A lot of people can't handle complexity or morally gray characters in their K-dramas, they want an immersive fantasy where they can lose themselves in the feels. Plus there has been a jaw dropping amount of slut shaming of the FL.
