I enjoyed the first two cases - even though they were a bit on the long side, they held my interest through out.…
I enjoyed how the production team has managed to link the first three cases to previous arcs from season 1 (the third case by mentioning the creepy triplet case due to the similarities of staying at a remote inn - Liu Shi Qi / Liu Shi Ba / Liu Shi Jiu)
Did he lose a lot of his muscles? I didn't recognize him in 'A Tale of Rose', his acting and body really stood out for me in 'Ancient Detective' - the brawn to Jian Bu Zhi's brains
Directors need to cast this man more leading roles instead of giving them to male idols who can barely act! Why aren't we seeing him onscreen more often and why are his roles so limited?
I'm on my third rewatch of Ancient Detective and I get amazed by his acting each time.
Omg I managed to guess the murderer for the inn case 😄 I am quite bad at guessing usually tbh so I surprised…
I didn't manage to guess the true murderer (the treasure hunter father), but I did guess correctly that the landlady of the inn was still alive and that Jiang Wei was the sheriff of the town/county when the imposter sheriff mentioned that the 'Sheriff of Shen county was quite clean' and he stepped forward to ask whether not have any illicit gains means an official is uncorrupt.
Lu Ling Feng is back to being overbearing and stubborn in this first episodes. I think he might be even more arrogant…
Give it another episode or two.
He's actually not as stubborn or pompous as we see after the first case, there's definitely been growth (both mental and emotional development) on his end since season 1. Without needing an explanation from Su Wu Ming, it shows how much Lu Ling Feng trusts SWM despite what many (including himself initially) may have deemed as an act of betrayal.
We see that SWM has had a lot of influence on LLF over the time they've been solving cases together, whether it's critical thinking, analysis, or strategizing - he's not as quick to jump to conclusions anymore and can catches on things that seems out of place pretty quickly.
His cheating scandal - he had a 3-year affair with his 'Asako I & II' co-star Karata Erika starting in 2017 when his wife (Anne Watanabe, daughter of Ken Watanabe) was pregnant with their third child. At the time, Erika was only 19 years old.
He's since been dropped by his agency and now lives in the mountain as a hunter with three younger females who were (still are?) actresses.
Oooh, a four hundred year old female ghost master - yay for something out of the normal plot. Dilraba's dramas are a hit and miss for me (50:50), but I did enjoy the two dramas I've watched of Chen Fei Yu (Ever Night S1, Lighter & Princess). Visually, they make a stunning pair, but so did Dilraba x Wu Lei, Dilraba x Yang Yang, Dilraba x Zhang Bin Bin and Chen Fei Yu x Zhang Jingyi - so my fingers are crossed that the storyline and acting will be able to keep us captivated.
Girl has many suitors 😂luo qing (senior), ye dingzhi ,and xiao se father ( prince jing ,ruojin) emperor in…
So had many suitors but always seem to be imprisoned behind a wall. The good news is that there were BTS of BDJ carrying a young Ye Anshi (Wu Xin), so at least we'll get some happy moments. :)
No as this is the prequel to TBOY. However, I suggest watching TBOY after this as everything and all the relationships/connections will make sense (especially since we've been introduced to so many characters with each new episode).
Having watched TBOY, it makes it easy to recognize who is who and remember the faces. I mean the number of people with white hair here....plus the upcoming appearance of Nangong Chun Shui will up that number.
I didn't catch Sha Xuan's name on the cast list earlier in the sea of the male idols. When she appeared onscreen in episode 11 as A' Xuan, I thought she looked familiar - Ji Xue (Guardian White Tiger) but without the grey hair.
I'm assuming A'Xuan is Ji Xue's mother and/or (future) wife of Ji Ruofeng?
Also a young Luo Qing Ya before he was OP (overpowered) and looks to already gaze longingly at his shimei, Yi WenJun. Poor WenJun - even as a young lady, she felt caged and trapped.
The first episode can be found on Youtube, but I couldn't sit through the first episode - which was less than 14 minutes long. I didn't know they had short form dramas filmed in 2014...
It's rare for me to watch Bai Lu in modern dramas - I had to drop the last one with her and Didi, it was one of those dramas that read well in the novel but not so much on the screen.
The 2000 era was a special one to me, in the cusp of becoming a young adult - hopefully we'll see many elements of this era stay true and that the story is a good one.
