I remember being a huge fan of Daito Shunsuke after watching Himitsu no Hanazono in 2007, imagine my shock and disappointment to find out about his cheating scandal in 2015. Glad Mizukawa Asami has moved on and married Kubota Masataka.
This is a bromance-centric drama. In fact, the entire novel series and TV adaptations center around the friendship of the three main characters Wu Xie (Tian Zhen / Naive), Zhang Qi Ling (Xiao Ge / Menyouping) and Pang Zi (Fatty).
If you enjoy adventure and tomb raiding, give this a try. Fair warning, PingXie is a huge ship for those in the fandom - myself included.
PingXie = Zhang Qi Ling x Wu Xie (Zhang Qi Ling is also known as Menyouping or 'poker-face' due to his taciturn nature, hence the 'Ping')
Guys do you think watching ULTIMATE NOTE first is the ultimate way to at least understand the "whole concept"…
Ultimate Note would be a good start to have some of your questions answered - as the majority of the story is tied to finding out the secret of the Zhang clan. It's my ultimate (no pun intended) favourite of the Daomu Biji live adaptations. Be worn, there are a few jump scares in that series.
The bromance between Wu Xie, Zhang Qi Ling, and Pang Zi as well as Hei Yan Jing and Xie Yu Chen there is very strong. IMO, the actors were the best ones cast to play their roles. I was devastated to find out that there wouldn't be an Ultimate Note Season 2 since the production lost the rights to the series.
From the friendship displayed in the earlier series (especially in Ultimate Note), you should be able to understand why Wu Xie and Pang Zi are willing to risk their lives to find out about Xiao Ge's past in 'Tibetan Sea Flowers - Adventures Behind the Bronze Door'
Awesome. I will finally get my life back next week 😂😂So we just have to pay 4x express episodes then?
Once this ends, I can finally give 'Go East' a try. I've always had good luck with Tan Jian Ci's series.
If you're a fan of the The Lost Tomb / Daomu Biji series, 'Adventure Behind the Bronze Door' (Tibetan Sea Flowers) is out and I've been enjoying it in between episodes of Are You the One.
I agree. There is significance in the original title 'Tibetan Sea Flowers' as it's the direct translation of the Chinese title (both drama and novel) 藏海花.
The Tibetan Sea flowers kept Xiao Ge's mother's body 'alive' (unconscious) for decades (or possibly 100 years as we don't know the exact timetime or exactly how old Xiao Ge is) during there separation before he got to see her one last time.
'there are people in the West, who are divinely inspired bards...after each period in time, they'll forget their…
All the patriarchs of the Zhang family are named Zhang Qi Ling, it's an inherited name.
But our Xiao Ge definitely is a Zhang (he has the qilin tattoo that is associated with the main Zhang family (the side branches have the qiongqi tattoo - aka Zhang Qi Shan (Fo Ye) and Zhang Ri Shan (lieutenant Zhang)).
Like the Zhangs, he has a very long life span and ages slowly and he uses the two-finger skill of the Zhang family.
Xiao Ge's father was unknown Zhang member who fell in love with Xiao Ge's mother, Bai Ma, a Tibetan doctor in Nepal.
I know Huang Ri Ying's accident on-set happened back in late May while filming for this series and that her agency has updated that she is doing well, but does anyone know if the cut on her face has healed well - I heard it required 7 stitches! Oh, and also that the production team has replaced her with another actress?
I'm not holding my breath for a season 2, I thought s1 ended well and we got to see glimpses of Zhang Ri Shan (Zhang Min En) aka Fo Ye's right-hand man in Ultimate Note and Tomb of the Sea (and we got to find out what happened to Fo Ye and Yin Xin Yue in Tomb of the Sea as well as Chen Pi A'Si in Ultimate Note)
Oh no, Zhang Hao Wei's recent prostitute solitcitation scandal doesn't bode well for his Crown Prince role in JOL season 3. He's temporarily suspended his acting career amid the accusations.

Xiao Ge spoke more words in that one scene at the Ma’an Village (episode 2) than he did combined for the duration of the entire series for the previous ones, and he spoke in complete sentences!
Anyone know why didi and di ge are called mouse and monkey the entire 猴鼠一家
There was an earlier episode (I think it was 2023 if not 2022) when Didi and Di Ge were on the same team and they called themselves that. In that episode, they both speak a lot of Sichuanese to each other since they were on the same team. Can't really recall which one it was. Sorry.
Reading all the comments about how good episode 17 was but ending on a cliffhanger and with only 1 episode released today, going to wait until tomorrow to watch both episodes (or maybe 3 if we get episode 19 as well).

Look forward to this season's Xiao Ge and Tian Zhen (Zhang Qi Ling / Wu Xie)....and of course the Iron Triangle with Pang Zi.
Hopefully, this will be as good as Ultimate Note (my favourite of the Daomu Biji live adaptations)
WeTV, whyyyyyyyyy??
