The Wang Family (or Wang Clan as they're not blood related) are a group of people whose goal is to destroy the Zhang Family so that they can reveal the Ultimate (essentially the secret behind the Bronze Door) to the entire world.
The first ancestor to the Wang Family / Wang Clan was Wang Zanghai who on his quest to pursue immortality, who went behind the Bronze Door during the early Ming Dynasty, found out about the Ultimate and was scared by it.
So basically the Zhang Family's mission is to safeguard and keep the secret hidden to protect the world whereas the Wang Clan's is to expose the truth to the world so that they can create a plan to destroy the horror behind the Bronze Door.
As of know the Ultimate is unknown except that it may be related to immortality.

Similar to here, Xiao Ge's scenes were told in flashbacks but yea, Wu Lei and Zhang Ming En were definitely scene stealers, very easy on the eyes :D I was mostly invested in Lt Zhang's budding romance with Liang Wan and her chasing after him despite finding out about his age and mysterious past.

I highly recommend watching Tomb of the Sea, we get to know what happened to Fo Ye (Zhang Qishan) and we find out about Xiao Ge's mother.
Chronologically, it's supposed to follow after 'Tibetan Sea Flower / Adventure Behind the Bronze Door' but close to when Xiao Ge is about to come out the Bronze Door.
It was also Rainco / Xiao Yu Liang's first(guest) appearance as Zhang Qiling before he reprised the role in Ultimate Note.
It's pretty thrilling and I enjoyed the romance between Lt. Zhang and Liang Wan.

Cons: 1) Too many unnecessary scenes of Ya Tou, she was *yawns* - this was before Yuan Bing Yan's breakout role - made the story dragged a lot between the interesting arcs 2) Not enough scenes of the other 九门 clan leaders - it would have made more sense to have less of Ya Tou and Chenpi A'si and Ya Tou and more focus on the other clans 3) Republic Era 民国时期 isn't everyone's cup of tea - I am very selective when choosing dramas from this era
