Popularity determines how much they earn per drama and whether they get cast as leads in big productions so actors care even if you dont. She's popular not because she is pretty or great at marketing, she started out really young and has a lot of popular classic dramas under her belt like Home with Kids, or Battle of Changsha. In fact I even stopped liking her as much because she switched to idol dramas but I have to say Ashes of Love and LYF are welldone. Especially LYF, she has so much depth and pain despite being cheerful.

After a long search H & R made Yangzi do it against her will because she planned to quit H & R and they wanted to milk her usefulness one last time by using her to secure advertisements. It was said that Immortal Samsara was profitable before even airing due to all the ads.

I watched it and while the acting was faultless, it's too obviously a male-centric plot meant to push ChengYi (H & R's own artist and the point of Immortal Samsara was to raise his clout) and the plot was too repetitive so I dropped. It made sense why no FL wanted to sign-up after Sally Jing, and Yangzi repeatedly rejected it because it's too ML centric before accepting as a final gift to H & R before leaving them.

I'm not really YZ's fan BTW, I liked her in Battle of Changsha in 2014 and Ashes of Love but I don't like a lot of the stuff she does. That said, she proves that strong acting skills and great diction matter especially when actors get to age 30. A lot of liuliangs get flak around this age because their skills need to improve as they age but don't, other dramas have flopped this summer due to this very reason.

Their talent wouldn't be seen by as many people or the general public if it wasn't Yangzi helming this project and acting really well. I am not even discrediting them, but truth is if it was a less good or less popular actress it won't get much attention and will be like Miss the Dragon.

So why didn't Dengwei increase his fans much in TTEOTM which was a very popular show or Meet the Dragon? His followers doubled in 1 week after LYF premiered and in both dramas he plays the 2nd ML and the 2nd FL got popular but he didnt.

The reason is because Yangzi is a darling with the general public and acts very well, so people were willing to watch LYF and notice Deng Wei. Same for Leo Luo. Yangzi is known as a 热CP体质 in China, she has the ability to show believable chemistry with almost anyone onscreen and the ability to make people empathise so viewers will find her MLs very likeable.

Dengwei x Yangzi is much more interesting and believable thanks to her and him showing improvement. Dengwei x Chen Duling was very staid in comparison.

Her acting and ability to choose scripts is why she is bucking the trend of liuliangs being overrated. A lot of people coast on popularity but she doesn't and i hope she continues to improve.

I didn't even name any other actress from the start or edit anything? Carrying means 招商 or attracting investments and viewers. Yangzi being the FL is why investors, advertisers put money into LYF. If it was any of the MLs like Zhang Wanyi or Tan Jianci the budget will be much smaller because investors may not bite, sorry but it is the truth.

YZ has 61m followers, Carrying simply means she's the one who brings the viewers, advertisers, investors on board not the MLs. That is the truth. Nobody will put that many advertisements (same for Immortal Samsara which H & R Century used her to guarantee advertisements) on a drama if it wasn't Yangzi helming it and guaranteeing that people will give it a go. Like if it was a less popular actress you wouldn't have expensive sets or promos because investors don't want to bet money on the returns.

Yang Zi really has the rare ability to push her costars acting up a few notches.

Dengwei shows a lot of acting improvement in his scenes with Yangzi, his eyes are so honeylike and he even cries well. He was not really known for his acting previously and had his TTEOTM scenes cut so it could fit under 40 episodes unfortunately.

Tan Jianci is known for being a superb actor already but he doesn't really do romance dramas because he started from small roles in big dramas like Advisor's Alliance or Winter Begonia. He shows a lot of potential as a romance ML too in his scenes with Yangzi and matches her skill level well.

Zhang Wanyi is also more known for non-romance dramas like Age of Awakening and The Bond, he doesn't really have big scenes yet but the 3rd part of the book is all about his explosiveness emotional scenes with the FL so we shall see.

Yangzi is the best actress in her age group, she's known for her great chemistry with MLs that Deng Lun, Leo Luo Yunxi, Li Xian got popular after acting with her. In LYF she has 4 MLs and is carrying 3 less popular MLs to rise in fame in ONE drama thanks to their chemistry. She just has the ability to make viewers empathise with her pain, few actresses can crossdress as Little 6 and be as funny, defensive, uncouth as a man, yet nail romantic tension scenes with another man well.

I was watching Legend of Anle where theres a similar premise of a highborn lady who lost her position and endured a lot of suffering, and the FL just didn't convey the same amount of hurt and pain while fake smiling, or romantic tension with her MLs so it felt hard to continue watching.

Spoiler: her dad the King of Haolin was in an arranged marriage with her mom General Ah Heng. They didn't love each other at first due to the 1000 year age gap and Ah Heng already liked someone else. After marrying Ah Heng the King of Haolin slowly fell for her but Ah Heng was already in love with someone so there was no chance and he decided to divorce and let Ah Heng go with her beloved. That was why Xiaoyao was sent away to Jade Mountain when her mum went to fight a war and parted from the ML in episode 1. But the King of Haolin was so in love with General Ah Heng he remarried someone who looks similar, ANian's mother the Consort Jingan.

I didn't spoil everything, but the above situation is why there is contention over who Xiaoyao's father is and why she never wanted to return to Haolin.

She has a face changing peach flower on her real forehead, she can change her appearance to protect herself but she doesn't really know how it works and can't remember her real face so at some point she kept changing faces and thought she was a monster. She hid in the mountain for years until she learnt how to stop her face changing suddenly. In the book after she returns to the palace, she gets into a pool at the Jade Mountain and is returned to her real self.

Netflix needs to pick this up!

She does especially when he shows up as Fangfeng Bei and saves her a lot.

Once Xiangliu moved that love voodoo bug onto his body out of curiosity (since he likes Xiaoyao and wants to feel everything she feels like she originally intended plus he can know when she gets hurt awwww 💕), he can feel everything Xiaoyao feels including who her heart beats faster for, who her heart aches for so XL realizes who she likes most sadly.

XL's really unselfish and only extracts that promise from Xiaoyao when Jing asks him for a favor in the future. He did not do it for his own benefit at all, it benefited Jing and Xiaoyao.

Scarlet Heart by the same author is the same, reverse harem and the FL goes through a lot of pain and has relationships with different MLs.

Watch Under the Skin and Secret of the Three Kingdoms, Adviser's Alliance, or Winter Begonia a BL drama. He acted his way up to leading man roles from memorable side roles with great acting skills.

No, he definitely has non-familial feelings for her to keep that fox tail around but he also failed to recognise her many times.

1) the green storytelling stone showed Xiaoliu as the person he was looking for but he ignored it despite wasting a lot of power lol

2) when XiaoLiu took a blow for him and saved his life he didn't notice that she put the foxtail back onto his waistband? Like dude who else would see that foxtail and save you, maybe your cousin?

3) If Xiangliu can find out more about that voodoo bug, Xuan could have done it too. If he investigated he would have known it was a lovers bug and can deduce who she is earlier.

4) When the voodoo love bug got removed he dreamt of Xiaoyao in his childhood but again fails to connect it to the earlier clues like her crying in front of him when he talked about his missing cousin

Uh, its not like Xiangliu actually did anything with her? He just misunderstood and still liked her. It proves he isn't the crazy controlling type even though he got jealous and removed the lovebite.

But Ye Shiqi is so in love with Xiaoyao that he blames himself for her gettting lovebites from Xiangliu and leaving white hair behind after sleeping (with her?) in her bed, that was the most hilarious part for me. He totally thinks they were having a physical relationship but he still loves her like a loyal puppy.
