from my pov, Dao is a strong character, i dont find her pitiful. cause that shoe slap says it all.
Oh, sorry, I should've made it clearer. I meant Dao assumed Naran knew he didn't like women. Or at least since he found out he was gay, which I assume could be months already? But my point was more about Dao's assumption and not so much on when Naran realized he was gay, if it makes sense. I also think Naran only came to realization when he met Krailert as Klai Rung.
Appreciating how villainous her character turned out to be is one thing, but thinking she did a good thing is…
"Marriage is not a joke n should not be used as a tool as per our convenience" πππ They can't be serious. Maybe they should tell this to Dhevi first.
from my pov, Dao is a strong character, i dont find her pitiful. cause that shoe slap says it all.
If anything, I think Dhevi's the pitiful one here because she's just living in her world of lies, thinking she's got a perfect marriage. Truth is, she got nothing. If her child found out the truth in adulthood, the child would probably hate her for bringing them into this effed up family. Well, unless the child turns out being like her too, then.... π
And about Dao's shoe slap....I honestly don't know. I'm sensing possible traces of homophobia in there, but Dao never saw Naran as someone who was on the same level as her, so the shoe slap felt more like a "I knew you were a peasant" and not "How dare you be a gay and cheat on me". If you get what I'm saying? Lol. Sorry I'm not that good with words.
Or it could also just be Dao feeling completely humiliated that Naran knew he didn't like women yet held onto her for so long giving her false hope, causing her to waste all that time, money, and effort on him. Or....it could be all of those or maybe either two, or maybe other reasons.
I don't think Dao's as manipulative and cruel as Dhevi, and Dao has more self respect compared to Dhevi because she knew dumping Naran was the right choice. Not for Naran, but for herself. So I definitely agree that Dao's far from being pitiful.
The only person that loves Dhevi unconditionally is her baby. Dhevi is evil.. sorry but she is, why would she…
I beg to differ. Her kid may actually end up hating her forever. She brought an innocent life into this messed up family, which she thinks is "perfect". If Lert and Dhevi are such great actors they could convince their child they are truly a happy family forever, then good for the kid. Otherwise, the kid might just end up growing distant and hating their parents.
on tiktok, i see people saying Dhevi did a good thing, like what??? forcing someone is a good thing? she may be…
Appreciating how villainous her character turned out to be is one thing, but thinking she did a good thing is another. How is forcing a gay man to stay in a marriage with her and impregnate her a good thing???? Just because he cheated on her? But she was the one who forced him into this marriage knowing he was gay.
Either those people weren't paying enough attention watching Ep8, or they just aren't in their right minds (and possibly subconsciously homophobic).
Dhevi was really a master manipulator, because not only did she do what she did, butn till the end she used her…
Omg you're right about her brothers!!!! Nice catch! This means she was just grasping at straws. Ugh, now I'm even more pissed. If only Lert told her to eff off and eloped with Naran, then her plan would've failed. π« But damn, she good at playing with people's minds. She knew Lert wasn't gonna risk it.
I do want to understand her if she did what she did to save the her marriage maybe I would understand her but…
She did do what she did to save her orchestrated marriage. It's just that she did it out of bad intentions from the start π¬ She brought all that torturous lonely nights on herself. She's just continuing to live in her little lie, convincing herself she's got a happy perfect marriage. I'm sure life's gonna make her pay for it later on.
Dao and Dhevi both had the same view about keeping their men and putting up with their lack of attention and affection for years. Both didn't truly love their partner. They were just obsessed with the person they wanted them to be. Both of them had a higher status than their partner, so they got to *chose* their partner.
But I love the contrast between Dao and Dhevi. I didn't like Dao's family. Don't like Dhevi's either. But Dao gets one point from me because she knew she should just leave when she found out Naran was gay. However, this also got me thinking, would she have done the same if she and Ran were already married? Ah-ha...
Maybe this shows Dao and Dhevi are different. Or maybe....this just shows Dhevi was who Dao would've ended up becoming if Naran chose to keep quiet and marry Dao.
I think her character was the most divorced from reality. There are numerous accounts of women, even nowadays…
I think it's important to remind ourselves that people like Dhevi aren't living in times where they were properly educated about homosexuality. I came across a tweet but I can't find it now. It was written in Thai, and they mentioned women in that era saw great importance in having the perfect marriage, or something like that. And to them, this matters more than anything else. So Dhevi wasn't gonna let her "perfect" marriage be ruined. She was gonna keep going until she got what she wanted.
The actress for Dhevi also mentioned that people during those times saw homosexuality as a disease, and that's probably what Dhevi thought too. She thought Krailert was just "sick" and that she could "fix" him. She wasn't gonna let news get out about her husband being a gay and let herself live with public humiliation for the rest of her life.
Also.. I kind of don't like how they made a woman be the evil one it was a big disappointment for me they could…
I apologize if I misinterpreted your comment. And I totally agree that it hurt AF. I really hate how awful she turned out. But I also think it was smart to make her that way instead of being a weak little kitty, especially since she came from military family. I just hope she gets her karma like how Pracha got his.
At first I also thought Trinβs choice was very questionable, but the longer I thought about it, the more I agreed…
I get what you mean, and I suppose you might be right. At some point, I did feel like Trin was projecting too, and I guess that's his flaw that I'll have to accept even though I don't like it.
For 7 episodes, Trin has been quite an admirable person even though he had his flaws. But he puts his money where his mouth is. He stands by his principles. When he complained to Tanwa that Tanwa wasn't there for him when he's sad, we saw Tanwa putting in effort to earn his trust when Trin was having a hard time himself. So it's just disappointing that when it came to him showing up for Tanwa, he failed to do so. He just left without a word for 2 years. And if it wasn't for Moira sending him that book, he probably might not even have considered reaching out to Tanwa again.
Throughout those 2 years, it felt like he showed more concern for others than Tanwa. And I get his reaction after reading Tanwa's book, but it's also precisely that reason that's leaving a bad taste in me.
He cared about the others enough to want to know how they were doing. But we never saw him asking anyone about Tanwa. (I blame the writers for this because if only we were shown a bit more context behind why Trin acted so out of character, or that he was actually still struggling to heal from his own PTSD alone in Paris, then it'd have made more sense and it would've been easier for viewers to empathize.)
But from what we were shown, he only showed that he cared again AFTER reading that book. So to me, it feels like he DID stop caring for those 2 years. It felt like he's moved on from Tanwa already. And he only started caring again when he found out he was wrong about Tanwa. But if only we were shown how Trin got to actually make an effort (not just 3 phone calls) to fight for Tanwa in return, it wouldn't have felt so underwhelming.
I just think for 7 episodes, they've got the pacing for Trin and Tanwa right and their scenes together were my absolute favorite. They flirted, they communicated, they spent time listening and sharing and understanding each other. But in Ep8, we had none of that. No communication before or even after those 2 years, and instead they just wiped the slate clean and started over as if the problem didn't exist. So personally, their individual growth and happiness felt earned, but their happy ending together didn't. On the bright side, at least we can assume they talked about it and worked it out for the next 50 years they were together.
Also.. I kind of don't like how they made a woman be the evil one it was a big disappointment for me they could…
You're speaking as if all women are expected to be saints, and if they're not, it's the creator doing them dirty and the female character becomes a disappointment. But you don't see people saying the same when a MAN is being written as evil? I agree some evil female characters are written in a distasteful, disrespectful manner, but Dhevi's actions here make sense. It gives her character more depth. She's no pushover. She wants, she gets. She's ruthless, just like her father.
Yea, I hate what she did, but I like how she turned out to be just as bad, if not worse, than Pracha. I thought Pracha was scary, but compared to Dhevi, Pracha now looks like a joke. If we can have a despicable man like Pracha, why can't we have a wicked woman like Dhevi?
Dhevi is a real queen. Such an incredible woman. I'm not surprised Veera loved her so much. The only thing that…
Genuinely curious, did you miss the part where Dhevi confessed she deliberately put Krailert in that jam where his lover was killed and he was threatened to marry her though? Because while Krailert did make his choice to marry her, she also choose Krailert while she's fully aware of Win's existence. She put herself in that loveless marriage too.
I think she's cool for being ruthless like her father and brothers, but I really hate what she did. I did feel pity for her in the past, thinking she was cluelessly forced into this marriage by her father. But now I don't pity her anymore. Krailert has to suffer the consequences of his decision, and so did she. But since she's more powerful than Krailert, she's capable of getting her way in the end.
At first I also thought Trinβs choice was very questionable, but the longer I thought about it, the more I agreed…
I would've somewhat agreed to this if the situation was different and it involved different characters. But imagine telling someone whose family had a history of suicide and know they could very well develop suicide tendencies as well to fight their own demons. And that someone is a person you once claimed to love. No matter what, it just doesn't sound right. Being there for Tanwa wouldn't be sugar-coating anything.
Trin could've done the very least to support Tanwa even for giving him 5 minutes to explain himself, then tell him they needed time apart to heal. If Trin could reconcile with Krailert again and even talk nicely to him, why doesn't Tanwa deserve the same chance? Instead, Trin acted as if Tanwa made the biggest mistake in the world for lying to him and he didn't have to apologize for punching Tanwa either, because his action was justified by his trauma from Claire's death?
If Tanwa was wrong for lying to Trin, then Trin's also just as wrong for punching Tanwa without knowing the full truth. They were both wrong, but Trin acted as if he was right and only Tanwa was wrong. I think that's the part that doesn't sit well with some of us.
So those who felt so sorry for poor Dhevi and resented the "cheater" Krailert now could have a good look…
Can't believe I was rooting for both Dhevi and Lert to get their respective happy endings only to find out Dhevi was actually the mind behind this hellhole of a marriage π€―π€―
