I came for the music and characters, and they definitely didn't disappoint. Akane's drumming and smile completely blew me away and got me smiling so much right from the start. And Keita Machida with long hair playing the drums??!?!!? *SQUEAL* Honestly, when he easily carried Naoki out of the room in that one episode, I thought it was a BL for a second and had to double-check the tags coz I remembered it wasn't. Lolol
But OMG the music!!!! T^T I absolutely love the music in this series.
I absolutely love Ji Chang Wook doing action. He's just so good at it. Not many actors can do it like he does. I totally get why he'd always say he wouldn't do action again, because it can seriously be so exhausting. But I'm also glad he loves doing action too and would probably still do it for a while if his body allows. Lol. Hopefully he gets some time in between to recover and rest though.
yes..i think she is better than general in female general and shadow love 😆
You're right about her! I love how you described it. She really gives off that kinda vibe. I think I've seen a comment saying she's too stiff or her speeches sound monotone, but for me that's also what makes her so believable. It's more like she's very composed and calm, so obviously she wouldn't sound jolly and bubbly. I think she's my favorite female general so far.
And i still haven't started Shadow Love! Lol. I'm actually on a vacation and thought I'd have some time to watch, but i didn't 😆 Still gonna give it a try though coz I like the cast too.
It was still good up till the part where they left the storm alliance. But then the last few episodes didn't quite…
I agree with giving her a purpose to live on and to help her pull herself together again, but I'm skeptical about her being in charge too coz like you said, she's made all the wrong decisions.

I can understand her putting herself in danger thinking her brother might be in danger if she didn't, but what I couldn't stand was the way she thought of Xia Jingyan and Xia Jingshi. It's just completely messed up.
The plot really triggers brainstorming, it will especially get more brainstorming in the middle and towards the…
True! I just hope after the first couple of episodes, it gets easier to follow since we'll know more about the characters and their intentions as well.

Many people were saying she'd learn her lesson so I got hopeful. But I got to the last episode and was still waiting for the part where she did learn 🙃
Am on ep2 and I find the dialogues in Mandarin even more difficult to understand than the first!! LOL why do they keep speaking in riddles 😭😭😭 I watch dramas to relax but watching this, my brain's gotta work so much haha

I finished Female General just before starting this, and I have to agree. Fu Yixiao has that natural gravitas and domineering presence of a general, whereas for the one in Female General, though her being petite and weak-looking was part of the plot, it had more to do with the way she carried herself, her gaze, and the way she spoke which fell short compared to the female general here.
I've only seen Li Qin in Joy of Life and her role there was kinda plain so it didn't really leave an impression on me. But here, I thought she pulled off the role of a general so well!! It didn't feel forced or like she was acting tough at all. It also wasn't like she was purposely behaving more masculine. She didn't have to. She presented herself as a woman the whole time, yet she didn't lack the strong presence of a general. Even when she was speaking softly or looking at Suige lovingly, you still feel that she's a general.
I have yet to watch Shadow Love so I can't comment on that yet. Lol. Gonna start watching that soon!
Just finished the series and I'm actually feeling kinda disappointed with the last few episodes...
It was still good up till the part where they left the storm alliance. But then the last few episodes didn't quite land for me.
I was expecting some solid development from Xiyang. But judging by the things she's said even after joining hands with the emperor and at the very end, she's still what they call a 恋爱脑 through and through.
Earlier when she divorced Xia Jingshi, she spoke as if he owed her, and I just got so tired with her. I get it though, she's the princess. She thinks the world revolves around her. She thinks she deserves everything. She still thinks just because she willingly did so much for him, he should've loved her back in return. So then she hates XJS because he didn't reciprocate her feelings, and didn't give in when she threw herself at him?? So if he slept with her when she stripped, then he's a man worth loving?? So you mean like the emperor????
Well, it figures though. What she said at the end proved it. She said she fell in love with a man who broke her heart (🙄) , then met a man who loved her, and in the end she couldn't even keep his child. I'm like.... 😦?????? So the man who fooled around with women and decided to sleep with her when he didn't realize his feelings yet, and even used her and confined her, and refused to let her leave, was a man who didn't deserve to die? And the man who kept refusing to sleep with you, treated you with respect and looked away even when you forced yourself on him, and even told you many times and gave you many chances to leave, is the one you loathe and wronged you? Ugh, I give up.
Honestly, whenever Xiyang breaks down in tears like we're supposed to feel sorry for her, I felt nothing at all. XJS is a jerk, but he also said the truth. Xiyang brought this all on herself. She made the decision to betray her father and brother. She made the decision to threaten Suige with her own life to help XJS. Yet when things went downhill back home, she blamed XJS for it? Even she said it herself to Suige that she brought it on herself, but she also still thinks XJS wronged her. The only time he wronged her was putting that sword through her. He never wanted to hurt her and he never once did, until Xiyang left him with no choice.
Xia Jingshi has done lots of bad things. I'm not saying he's good. But I did appreciate how he didn't take advantage of Xiyang and still kept telling her to leave. Still, even though I know it aligns with Suige's protective character of his sister, I find it ridiculous how he (and Xiyang) blame XJS for what happened to their father. Erm....it was the empress' and the Murongs' fault?? It was also Xiyang's fault for betraying her family first?? It sounded so lame for Xiyang and even Suige to pin everything on Xia Jingshi (on top of the Murongs). If he's referring to the things before their father died, I agree. But ever since XJS left Susha, whatever happened in Susha basically had nothing to do with him anymore.
Xia Jingshi deserves to die for building the death camp, for manipulating Yixiao, for trying to kill Yixiao. But making it all about Xiyang at the end just fell so flat because Xiyang's reason for hating him sounded so stupid (though I get where she's coming from). But Xiyang still sounded like a spoiled entitled princess to me until the very end, which kinda irked me.
Did she really learn her lesson? To be very honest, I don't feel like she did. Like Suige said, she's always been a tough girl inside. So her "toughening up" wasn't exactly a development or growth, it was just amplifying her traits. At most, she put her family first now. She learned that no one cares more about her than her family and that her family matters most. But other than that, her views on "love" remained the same.
If she really learned her lesson, she wouldn't have thrown herself again at another man, and then actually fall for that man too. Why? Because she didn't really LEARN that she couldn't change a man. She only learned that she was foolish to think she could change Xia Jingshi. Keyword: Xia Jingshi, not "a man". She fell for Jinxiu's emperor at the end because she felt that she "changed" him. She was the "special one". The one-in-a-million lady whom the emperor fell for. So she was moved by it, and she smiled for him at last. 😑 She and the Jinxiu emperor really suited each other though.
I really enjoyed this drama up till the final 3rd or 4th episode. Chengyang was a refreshing character too because although he's sweet and kind, he isn't stupid and isn't blinded by power or greed. I also like Ning Fei. I thought if Xia Jingshi got to him first, he might choose to return to him. Or that he'd still think of Suige and his people as enemies after he's recovered. I'm glad he was such a loyal friend to Yixiao. Love that he ended up with Xueying too!! I also love Xueying. Too bad we didn't get to see much of her towards the end. But omg her dad Ling Feng is hilarious 😂😂 Also love the fight scenes especially in the first half when they had to impress the audiences with Suige and Yixiao's skills. Those were really well choreographed.
Just finished Ep14 and I can't stand the princess too!! Lol. But it makes sense she's so naive coz she's been…
I felt bad for her initially....but idk, by Ep25, I've just given up on her. I get that she just simply wants to love Xia Jingshi and wishes he loves her back, but I just can't stand the way she keeps forcing herself on Xia Jingshi when he's made himself very clear and repeatedly told her to stop.

Initially, I get her too and don't blame her. And yes, she's really frustrating. But after Ep25, I just can't stand her anymore. The way she kept forcing herself on Xia Jingshi really doesn't sit well with me. Every time she does that, it makes me feel so uncomfortable. Like girl, JUST STOP.
I get where Princess Xiyang is coming from and she's just blindly in love with Xia Jingshi. But gosh. I used to…
I also feel really bad for Murong Yao. After hearing his reason, what happened to him and his father was really unfair. BUT, it also wasn't Suige's fault either. Hopefully he'll come around and help Suige moving forward.
