The root cause of her being an obsessed freak was because of a man. If she has become a completely evil person she wouldn't have killed her sister for working with dark aura.
Now that the man was gone she had no other reason left to harm someone.

When he met yunxi and married her he didn't have his memories. It was only in ep 15 or 16 he got his memory back when SY force fed him a pill. It's just that she was too late and he already saw her ugly face . So despite getting his memory back it didn't change anything

He didn't remember his past when he met his fox wife. It was shown that only in ep 16 he got his memories back. At that time sy still thought he didn't regain his memories because Musheng still hated her .

I hate her but pity her too. Musheng made her fall in love with him by promising to love and protect her . ,then forgot abt her (although it's not his fault). They were just never meant to be. If only she accepted it with dignity and did her job as what a Taoist leader is supposed to do, i.e fight fu yin, she wouldn't have lost everything.

Knowing that he loved her at some point , i kind of pity her fate. Yes it's cruel. But instead of being a better person, especially with the responsibility of being the leader of a great sect she chose the past of destruction. And i don't like musheng either.
Because of him zhuli has no relatives left now.

Now that i think about it fate was cruel to SY but she herself made it worse with her selfish decisions

She might have turned out to be a psycho lover later on. But 20 years ago when musheng was hurt she was desperate to save him by any means .

He lost his memory. In ep 15, after he helps our leads in yongzhou, he was taken back to Guanghan sect. There SY forcefully feeds him the pill she made using fox essence. We are shown how his memory comes back. But then he points a sword at her. Suying in a denial mode, after failing to see any change in him convinces herself that he still hasn't gained his memory hence his hostility towards her

Mizu replied to my comment below and said that musheng was saved by yunxi after he lost in a battle. Now since it wasn't explicitly said in the drama let me join the dots.

So when Musheng went to fight in a battle he got gravely injured, then saved by yunxi but lost his memory. Meanwhile SY knowing he must be hurt made a plan to get the dragon armour to save him . She was partially successful in getting the scales for the armour. But her man was missing and she finds him after 20 years ,already married to yunxi with no memories of their past life.

Hmm so he lost his memory and yunxi lied to him that he is a scholar and Sy had been searching for him for the past 20 years

But when she dismembered Ty she wasn't aware of Musheng's state. She didn't know he would forget his past. If going by the theme of the drama i would say sy did what she had to do to protect the one she loved .
But this is me talking abt 20 yrs ago. Later on she absolutely turned pathetic refusing to let him go

As much as sy is delusional she isn't a liar . "there was someone who said he loved me, and would protect me".
So Musheng indeed loved her in the past and it wasn't one sided. No wonder she was so obsessed with him and couldn't take it that he stopped loving her.

On the other hand i would have liked it more if they clarified what exactly happened to Musheng to end up like that. Did he die ,get reborn or just lost his memory? Was Yunxi responsible for it like Suying said. If yes , then I would say she was fair to kill Yunxi.

I know what's in the book, but since the drama deviated a lot i wanted to know the exact backstory. But i guess we won't get the answers anymore.

I said in a comment below , her version of "choosing one person over the world". It would be interesting to know what ty woul do if he is in a sy like situation. I.e if yh becomes evil who can destroy the world. So will he save her and the whole world be damned or sacrifice her 🤔. But if he chooses the evil yh it wouldn't be much different from sy

I think people are mistaken that Lee musheng remembered everything all along . Imo he indeed had no clue about his life as a general.

After Musheng helped out the leads in yongzhou ,Sy forcefully fed him that pill made from fox essence and to recover his memories. She asked if he regained his memories. And it was shown that it indeed worked however musheng soon pointed his sword at her . So SY deluded herself into thinking that he hasn't recovered his memory. She was in denial mode after seeing no change in his behaviour.

I don't think he remembered his past. It was only after she fed him the fox's essence he gained his memories but she she didn't believe as his behaviour didn't change
