I don't understand why is the FL blaming Mo Jingli for the deaths of some of the scholars at Lishan mountain, I feel like there is something I'm not understanding? I thought it was the Empress Dowager's fault

If you really hate it then you can skip it but its a really wonderful drama
I personally thought the show had a good balance between happy moments and angst. But i wouldn't recommend it if you want to watch something happy. Perhaps I'd recommend Blossoms in Adversity. Also hope you are doing also as you mentioned remaining months 🙏

It's because you get a dissonance from FL's character. We're shown she's clearly unwell mentally, but she also…
Yes you are so right about the dissonance. She helped her sister in law who was paying those shamans a lot of money to get over her husband's death. But it was interesting seeing that same sister in law look confused when she was going on about the monkeys. Its still early days so they may lean into the FL being unhinged, I'm also not sure where the plot is going which is intriguing

I've just finished the first two episodes. Honestly how refreshing, such gorgeous natural cinematography, colours and makeup its truly is wonderful to watch. The plot is also mysterious but they do reveal information in increments. I'm also liking the slower more careful pace, ngl I was worried that a lot of newer dramas were going to follow a more 'mini drama' style of filming, where the plot is thrown at you at break neck speed and there is an abundance of slow motion shots for no reason. Its nice to see a drama that dials it back and allows the plot to unfold like a long form poem. Truly, truly gorgeous. I'd liken the style to dramas like Flourished Peony and Story of Minglan.
