My eyes are tearing up right now, still on ep 12. I'm just thinking about how the FL is away from her family and is stuck in this random frontier town, and just how scary that must be for her, especially considering how she grew up. So when the ML's subordinates/friends/family brought mini gifts for her it brought tears to my eyes because it made me realise just how much the FL has gone through and how scared she must feel going on the path she is on, and seeing how they've shown that she has a family she can rely on is so heartwarming,

Do you know what I'm watching ep 12 of road to splendour right now, and seeing the scene of him cutting his own hair and repairing hers it really made me feel emotions. I'm not someone that cares about romance in dramas, for some reason romance always fails to move me or make me feel anything, I'm always very indifferent towards it. But there is something about Ding Yuxi's portrayal of love and his relationship with the FL that genuinely resonates with me, they are so beautiful to watch. He's tender, and soft which is really refreshing to see

My Dearest and Empress Ki are wonderful. Both kdramas but they are really special. Joy of Life is outstanding

Oh however my top favourite drama is Joy of Life I personally think its better than Nirvana in Fire. It has one of the best main characters in fiction history (imo). The plot twists are mind blowing

Ive watched both Minglan and Empresses in the Palace and I love them equally. I tried Nirvana in Fire and its on hold at episode 17. I personally think the drama is quite dull, but I do want to try it again someday

Something i dont get about the cdrama industry is that they created an incredible drama like Story of Minglan, where both the male and female lead had their lives told in astonishing detail and care, coupled with amazing costumes, cinematography etc - and then they proceeded to never make another drama like this again 😭

Is this show worth it? I'm watching Road to Splendor right now and its so good...

Also I love that this drama starts of being what you think is a revenge story, but the real plot is revealed later. Don't get me wrong I love revenge dramas, but there is something refreshing about watching a zero to hero story. and it adds such layers to Tingyun's character and shows the type of person she is.

I don't blame Ya Ke for having an inferiority complex, especially as she's been compared to Ting Yun all her life. One day a handsome, rich and influential man says he "loves her" and wants to marry her. I don't blame her for making that decision. It doesn't make it right but I understand her line of thinking, what good would being a girls girl do? In her eyes Tingyun would also be "better than her".

Have they gotten married yet or are they still engaged? Its not really clear to me

the cinematography was so gorgeous that I was genuinely in awe at how beautiful it was

Now I'm fully understanding why its called The Road to Splendor. If anyone is curious about similar dramas its giving me Blossoms in Adversity vibes
