I know hirofumi arai is a capable actor but he is a revelation here
Agreed, I'd say this is his best performance I've ever seen. Someya's acting is good and believable but still nowhere as good as the Korean guy's in here.

Title The Piper Spoiler
The Pied Piper actually led the children away after they screwed him on his payment. Not bringing the rats back.
It was. However I baffled why do the rats spare the kids, who are then sealed inside the cave by the piper.

Title Silmido
I don't know it is actually based on real event, but would say this one is really, really well made. I'd even rate this movie higher than JSA, which is already a very good and realistic military-themed Korean movie. It is more action-packed than JSA, but still retains good deal of psychological aspect of the characters.

Title Sanadamaru
It is almost halfway through the series but still meddles with what happened to Sanada Yukimura's youth, which supposedly should not be the focus. The important stuffs happened when he got older, namely the battle of Sanada Castle itself which the dorama lends the name from. It should be renamed as "Sanada Yukimura" instead of Sanada Maru.

Anyway, is it only me who feel the casting of Masami is wrong? Hell she is definitely out of form here and her character is very selfish (and badly written).

Thank you for this! I'll be adding some to my watch list! I honestly left Jdramas for Kdramas and basically only…
Many doramas are indeed extremely preachy especially those generic, run-of-the-mill ones. I believe there are too many writers who are more willing to downplay the script due to the inability of some actors (who are rife in mainstream doramas)to play dramatic scenes and simply lacking writing prowess.

However there are a lot of hidden gems in jdoramas, be it witty, smart, relaxing, or absurd but entertaining.

Jdrama are famousl for its live action adaptation like AoT, samurai x, lupin and other manga adaptation, but guys…
Many over the top acting in doramas are due to bad directing, in many cases it is actually not desired but the horrendous quality of those directors and absence of acting skill among some actors make that happen. Seriously, they should've give more chance to filmmakers to do dramas, the screenplay quality in mainstream slot has become worse and worse (in exception some major projects).

Pleasantly surprised by it. Love the genuine chemistry among family members and Mitsuki is a t the ripe age to…
Not mentioning Mitsuki is a babyface, making her convincing to play as a high schooler again.

The only good aspect of this movie is that the cinematography is that amazing, especially when it comes to the scenery of the old town where the whole story took place. I heard it was the director's hometown. Unfortunately the casting director did an awful job finding young talents to play in this show. Thankfully Harada (who was 16 y/o and gori-oshied at that time) improved a lot acting-wise since 1983 and still going pretty strong now.

her best role is that alien obsessed girl in starman drama who turned out to be a real alien at the end.edit:…
I think surprisingly her biggest strength lies on comedy, I have never seen her failing comedy scenes, from Amachan, 11 Nin mo Iru, her brief but extremely hilarious part in Yuusha 2, and Biri Girl.

I agree on your point that she has decent potential, but I find her agency has definitely mishandled her - she is still green and somewhat unrefined in terms of acting but they push her to play in shows that neither add or showcase one's skills. That's why she remains looking same again and again, which is boring.

Does anybody know how many episodes would this be? At the moment 8 eps now...
Most likely 11 eps, since the viewership rating is pretty decent, hence it won't likely to be cut.
