I think Seok Hee's mom was the first wife and her dad was cheating with the stepmom and had the two older boys. I don't know why the dad would be raising them if they weren't his, but it's possible the stepmom had them with someone else. But if they are the dad's then that would maybe explain why the dad wasn't around much when Seok Hee was a kid, as he had a mistress and two illegitimate children.

Lol I know this is an old comment but I wanted to chime in. I felt the same and I honestly think it was because of the voice dub. The girl who dubbed Xiao Feng (not sure if it was actually Peng Xiao Ran or not tbh) was amazing. But the dubber for Cheng Yin was sub par. His facial expressions were heartbreaking and so convincing, I'm sure if we were to have heard his actual voice, the line delivery would have been way better executed. Chen Xing Xu really gave his all for this role, I'm sad the dub took away from his wonderful performance.

A lot of people compare Eternal Love and AoL but I think if you do that you'll probably be really disappointed (I know I was). Honestly AoL is just an okay drama for me, whereas Eternal Love is one of my all time favorites. But if you go into AoL not expecting much, it's probably a much more enjoyable drama.
I gave it a 6.5/10. It was good, had some great moments, but also had its fair share of flaws and frustrations. Like another person who commented, I too feel the characters lacked some emotional depth and I wasn't connected to them (except Run Yu, he was rad). I ffwd some bits that bored me but overall it was still a fun watch.
Run Yu 100%. He's a troubled dude. He makes a lot of mistakes and is a morally grey character for sure, but that's what makes him interesting. Plus Leo Luo so perfectly played the character. I wish he was the true male lead, I love an antihero.
Also, great job on the article. If I hadn't seen it already, you definitely would have convinced me to watch AoL. I look forward to part 2:D
This was way better than I expected. The story did start going off track a bit as it went on, but the acting, the characters, and the beautiful cinematography kept me drawn in. I really hope Seo In Guk and Jung So Min are paired up together again in the future, their chemistry was some of the most natural and romantic I've ever seen.

That was only half of my point, and I was simply stating that it's a common practice. They're both of legal age and are professionals choosing to take this project on. Real relationships like this happen all of the time so, I don't know why a fictional piece of entertainment has you all in a stir.
These types of age gaps happen all of the time in Hollywood movies lol I don't know why everyone's so upset about it. They're both adults and also they're just acting. It's really not a big deal.
