i stopped watching at ep 17 a while back and now just picking this back up at 1.5x speed (which isn't as fast…
I highly recommend A Graceful Liar which is airing right now. It absolutely does NOT have the budget or aesthetics of a normal daily drama. Also, we're seeing a villain origin story with the FL, which is also pretty new to me! I'm begging you to watch it because I'm already obsessed with it and the vibes are incredible there too.
I agree with everything you said, though. Jang Shin-Young isn't a bad actress (watch Thorn Flower and Golden Empire, she's good in both and amazing in Thorn Flower), but she is awful here. I blame the script and the characters. So the script lol and the pacing. It's all over the place. Either too much is happening or nothing is happening at all. No stakes, no proper development, it's just people doing things. I'll give the music a good score, though.
Secrets & Lies is good if you like a villain FL, Family Secrets from what I've seen is great too.
It's a possibility. So many people hated The Two Sisters (and there was also a LOT going on behind the scenes too, similar to Woman in a Veil), so KBS likely investigated it and decided to start from scratch, possibly. Then KBS2 redeemed themselves with Cinderella Game.
According to Wikipedia korea, the original title was "The Golden Palace," but the final title was changed…
Really? I didn't know that.
Also, I understand the context of "Intimate Ripley" now. Ripley refers to Ripley Syndrome, a trait of antisocial personality disorder (ASPD, aka sociopathy.) It's also a reference to Tom Ripley, protagonist of the Ripley books. He's a villain protagonist: a psychopath, a con artist, and a serial killer.
So this must be Cha Jung-Won's villain origin story. We're following a villain FL here (the start of one, right now.) Intimate could refer to the relationships she has/had with the different characters.
I got sick of it and dropped it then picked it back up at ep 75 now since I’m watching on Kocowa I’m watching…
I simply can't invest my time in a drama I'm not enjoying 😭 there was one drama I dropped after only watching the first episode! I wouldn't mind watching in 2x speed, but I'd miss important details and get frustrated over that lol
I'm gonna have to drop this drama. Loved it at first, but everything is starting to irritate me now. I thought Lucia was growing as a character, but NOPE! Right back to square one. The ML? Let's not even talk about him. Even the villains aren't smart. It's frustrating. It's a mess. And I had MUCH higher hopes for this since I liked The Women's Room... I'm disappointed. Maybe I'll pick it back up like I did with Queen's House (20 times better), but right now? I don't think so.
I barely drop dramas. You have to absolutely SUCK story-wise and piss me off in order for me to drop it. Somehow this drama has done all of the above. Congratulations. Clap, clap, clap, as my k-drama critic jagiya says.
Jeez man, it's the first damn episode! 😭 The kids aren't that good to me, but we'll see... bro really came…
Nah, the acting is mid in general. Ji Hyun-Woo is ESPECIALLY bad. He's awful here (and this is probably my first time seeing him.) You can easily drop the drama then lol
Great first episode! Some parts definitely dragged, but overall... I really liked it. Everyone seems so shady. That stylist's face is bugging me for some reason though. 😂 I'm getting the vibe that SY isn't who she claims to be. Definitely might turn out to be the main villain/final boss (to be completely blunt, I'm sick of her playing sweet good heroines and I want her to play a ruthless, scheming, and heartless villain- she's capable of it based on her performance in Penthouse) based on what I've seen & heard so far. But Eugene is doing amazing. I don't think I've ever seen her play a character like this before.
I love the directing and wardrobe too! Editing was a bit weird, but I'm sure it'll improve (or maybe it was for aesthetic reasons?)
I really can't wait for Jung-Won to turn evil, man. The characters are really grey or evil too. I can't stand Nan-Sook with her stupid headscarf and her ridiculous lipstick!

It's very slow (and kinda weirdly paced?) at the moment, maybe the next episode will be better.
EDIT: I think Snow White's Revenge showed an upgrade in budget at first. The plot... fell apart, but I liked the directing there.
