Same! Also is your profile picture the legendary, one and only, makjang villainess ICON SHIN AERI?!
There's no subs, but I PROMISE it's worth it! (This is how I wanted The Promise to go too lol, I was disappointed at first, but eventually it was worth my time.)
The basic plot is that there's twins: Jung Yu-Hee and Jung Yu-Kyung. (Both played by Kang Seong-Yeon, she does a stellar job from what I've seen so far.) They're separated when Yu-Kyung gets adopted and goes to the US (since she has a heart disease.) Yu-Hee stays in Korea, marries Yoon Sang-Woo (ML... ish?), and goes through a lot with her child because of the evil MIL. Several other characters are intertwined... but no spoilers. This was Lee Chae-Young's breakout hit and it's my first time seeing Yoon Se-Ah play a villain. She's doing an awesome job. The 2nd and 3rd MLs are a bit different too. Even the 3rd FL (Min Seo-Hyun, played by Yoon Se-Ah) is shockingly different with her character arc. Anyways, Yu-Hee disappears and dies, right? Yu-Kyung comes back to Korea, finds out what happened to Yu-Hee, and then decides to take her place for revenge on the villains. Cue corporate drama, love polygons, revenge, and Yu-Kyung playing everyone like they're pawns on a damn chessboard. Legendary.
I HIGHLY recommend this daily drama. 116 episodes, I'm halfway through it... the twists get better and better. And Yu-Kyung is definitely a grey character/FL... and kinda scary lol
Jung Lucia??? Its been a while since I've seen a proper makjang revenge glow up. Either way I'm here for this…
Oh! That sounds awesome!
Yes! I love when the comic relief in a drama is actually funny (which is very rare. It usually feels bizarre and cringy.)
Ha Yoon-Chul too, this show has a lot of Penthouse vibes- wait, so he IS the father?
I'm really excited to rewatch Game of Witches! And I loved Jang Seo-Hee as the FL, once again... I got to predict that she wanted revenge on the evil old chairwoman lol
Same! Also is your profile picture the legendary, one and only, makjang villainess ICON SHIN AERI?!
Exactly! Queen's House definitely gives off some Temptation of Wife vibes (at the moment, I'm obsessed with Wife Returns where there's 2 FLs, both twins. The good twin dies because of the villains, and the rich & cold twin takes her place to get revenge on the villains. And she is RUTHLESS.)
All that screeching she did is why the actress doesn't do daily dramas anymore 😭 "MIN SO-HEEEEEE!!!! YAAAAAA!"
Jung Lucia??? Its been a while since I've seen a proper makjang revenge glow up. Either way I'm here for this…
Completely agree with this. Also, are you a teacher by any chance?
Soo-Jung, Ja-Kyung, and Ja-Kyung's parents are some of my faves! I always loved Stella, and I'm so in love with Lucia now lol At least Seri isn't greedy like the rest of the Mins. She's trying to get her money and get out. I respect it. 😂
I'm getting Kang Ji-Ho vibes from Sun-Jae right now.
Guess who's caught up 👀First of all - seeing Jaein with short hair takes me back to my T-ARA fan days like…
I actually (genuinely) don't think that Seri and Jae-In are related- I feel like that'd be the one thing that ruins the drama lol. SR just seems VERY envious of Jae-In. Just an annoying, jealous, wicked 계집! (Bitch!) Period. I don't think it's complex when the writing's been on the wall... BUT if there's a twist somehow and it was foreshadowed this whole time, I wouldn't be opposed... I guess. 👀 I just don't want Jae-In related to that witch, because like I said, it'd ruin the drama. For me, at least. AND that would mean a redemption for Seri (ABSOLUTELY NOT. I will lose my damn mind.) Not a single villain here (maybe Ja-Young, lol there's one here and one in AWWSTS) deserves redemption to me. And I don't want a tragic sob story for Seri at the end either.
I 100% agree on the birth secret part, this is a trope (in ALL k-dramas, not just dailies) that irks my soul!
I think Miss Monte-Cristo and Pink Lipstick are also similar, same with The Women's Room.
I'm wondering if I should pick this drama up... has it genuinely improved?
Kyung-Chae struggling with the e-commerce business is perfect karma... I wonder what Lucia's next moves will be... could she become the new investor? Or will Stella invest in Minkang and have Lucia appointed as an executive instead?
Tae-Kyung is probably making the company fail on purpose, so Stella can swoop in and save it (and maybe take over?)
Very true. I do think that his credentials & experience are legit, though. You know everyone in America is rich lol his adoptive parents are probably very wealthy businesspeople. Like Logan Lee & his parents in Penthouse.
wt u mean hppnd b4? Gal she was dumped wn she was pregnant n he even drugged her. She has enough life experience…
How are the Mins irrelevant when they're the main villains here? Lmao, wait. I mean, SH caused this and pushed her own daughter off the rooftop! And she bullied her too, and she was secretly rich so she ruined her own daughter's life. She will wake up and all of this is just some scary dream.
YOU made assumptions about me then said I wasn't being logical? Huh? 😂 I don't understand. I mean if you want actual research I can do that asap. Also you never wanna blame the actual villains and instead go with blaming the protagonist? It's very interesting how it's always a female too...
In most revenge dramas, FLs don't completely disguise themselves. It's usually just a makeover. If only the drama…
Oh no, I didn't mean to come off as negative! I'm just saying that it's unfortunately common (because budget, heyyyyy...), like I can't recall one drama (daily or non-daily, tbh) that had the FL get full plastic surgery to become a different person for revenge. They need to try that, they've done with MLs, what about the FLs?
UNLESS it's twins, like The Promise or Wife Returns.

Of course not. No rational person (fuck you, Joo Dan-Tae) would actually blame Su-Ryeon. I still can't figure out what Seol-Hee/Lucia did... other than be hotheaded and stubborn? And send evidence to the wrong people? I mean, we know that the law protects rich folks. She just refused to accept that. THAT, I can blame her for, not the suicide. She wasn't the one that beat Miso up or twisted the story to the press. Or paid off multiple people, or made Miso's best friend turn against her, or... you get the point lol
You're close, but not too close. Once upon a time, I was very naive and a big people-pleaser. I'd give a lot of "second chances" to people... until one day, it punched me square in the face. Twice, and back-to-back. 😂 Well, more like a few times, cuz life is rough. That was when I decided to NOT be naive anymore. Do I mess up sometimes? Definitely, I have trouble reading people (I was "blessed" with autism spectrum disorder, lol), and because of that I never saw red flags running towards me like an angry bull. NOW? After those experiences? I'd say I'm a lot more sharper. But, the thing is that I'm a VERY sympathetic person. Also, I've watched a lot of revenge dailies and have memorized most of the tropes (though there are some twists on them that I appreciate.) I'm a "place yourself in their shoes" kinda person, and I mean, we, as the audience, SHOULD understand Seol-Hee and her actions (even if she makes mistakes, all the characters here are absolutely messed up. Even the ML.) It doesn't mean that I *agree* with it, I'm just explaining, "oh, this might be/could be, xyz..." I don't completely blame a character, unless it is directly their fault that so-and-so happened and whoever got hurt and/or died. Like, the knowledge of the truth of a person's death, and they're holding onto it? Absolutely. You witnessed an accident and did nothing? Prison, now. I hate you. 😂 (Not YOU, but the character.) Honestly, I HATED the FL in Boys Over Flowers, so I get ya.

I agree with your last point.

Makes sense?
