I put off finishing this when it was airing because of the bad reactions to the ending and basically forgot about it for years. I suddenly just got in the mood to start watching it again. Started rewatching and just finished the last episode, LOVED IT. The last few episodes suffered from pacing because of the episode extension from 16 to 20 episodes (hated it when it happened then, still hate the idea now, all the channel execs see is more advertising money). Episode 19 felt like the finale but it was really wonderful seeing the character growth and changes in Episode 20 and and ultimately the MESSAGE was very important even if it came across as preachy sometimes. I get so bored with kdramas after a few episodes and have struggled with this issue for years but this drama right here is a GOAT kdrama, iconic.
ETA: Also the main song for the drama is iconic itself, literally never got tired of hearing it which is rare for me with how much it was used. It was used to well throughout the drama and the production team did a great job remixing it for certain scenes.
Wow even Japan is doing more lesbian romance dramas now?!! Wow…Korea I’m waiting…(please) honestly, you barely see shows revolving around lesbian couples even in the west these days, very interesting.
3rd in greece. It was funny first 2 episodes it's gonna be a keeper .Hope it won't suffer from romcom curse
It most likely will based on precedence (and I mean years and years)…when I saw it was 16 episodes over an hour each, I decided to wait till it’s at least halfway through to start. I’ve been burned too many times and my free time is too precious
She's apparently getting a real world experience by choice. She decided to stop taking scripts for the past 3…
She such an interesting person, this is what I love about her. I’m so glad she’s doing what feels right for her, life is too short!! She’s definitely missed, she always played quirky, unique characters you rarely see in kdramas. Can’t wait till she decides to come back to acting and wish her all the best! Thanks soo much for sharing! She suddenly popped into my head and I was wondering what had happened to her and how she was doing and you guys delivered.
Regarding The Glory, it’s more like Korean movies not western shows. I’m so tired of this argument. The irony is that The Glory is such a good quality drama and this is the one that you point out as seeming westernized (which I don’t agree at all, it would have been handled quite differently as an American or European show) I watch mostly western shows now and most Korean dramas even the most intense are not like them. Having more violence or sexual theme media is not a western concept. To this day, some of the most brutal and disturbing movies I’ve ever watched are 100% Korean from the studio, producers to the actors involved! Korean shows still have so much heart and humanity compared to a lot of comparable western shows though, I’ll say that. The issue with most kdramas and the issue that has been around for years (I started watching in 2010) is they are too formulaic and boring when you get past the first few episodes. The latter issue has gotten even worse in the last few years and I can’t remember the last time I finished a kdrama.
Alrighty then so, i am officially part of the Ahn Bo Hyun fan club. I LOVEEEED him as Woong but it was literally the only drama or character I'd seen act so I got more attached to the character than him. His acting here proves that this guy gets enveloped in his roles and is a genuinely versatile actor. The main lead here is quite a nuanced and complex character (Same with all his relationships in the show) and he excelled at every emotional, comedic, romantic beat. Just on point. The overall casting and writing was phenomenal too, I love the female lead actress and character too.
Maybe kdramas need to start adapting more european shows fr and of course ones that are good quality in the first place. Life on Mars, The World of Married and now this have all been really good remakes.
Some dramas have higher ratings for their second episode of the week (ex: QoT on Sundays). It might be better to wait till Mon/Tues to report ratings for weekend airing dramas.
