He was a psychopath serial killer - no remorse, no fear of pain. In the end he was "scared" before getting his head cut off as any being wants to survive. The devil in the name of the movie refers to the 'devil' in such individuals (as in the cannibal) - the are not possessed, cursed or even mentally ill, no religious devil is responsible for their deeds - they should take responsibility. Now that I think about it, nothing was shown about the killer's life, as not to show any 'excuse' for the pain he caused - many people are unfortunate but they don't become serial killers. And they are most probably psychopaths/sociopaths who never become killers. Anyway movie was awesome and heartbreaking.
This is unbelievable - a masterpiece. The cast is out of this world with characters that fit perfectly, just portraying them so beautifully. I love Lee Byung Hun in this, his character speaks so little but says everything with just a look - that's amazing acting. The main couple's chemistry is great, so very tense and interesting, can't wait to see more - 8.7 is just too low...

Not necessarily born one, other theories state that it's up to upbringing and if signs are caught on time could be reversed (maybe totally?). The reporter is just a run-of-the-mill shark with lots of arrogance. I also hate her but would I just take her as a given if she was a man...?
