RIP our irreplaceable Shan Cai! You're gone too soon! :( You will be missed dearly! I will never forget the joy of rushing to turn on the Chinese channel just to watch Meteor Garden.

Gotta hate that they always take forever on sequels and end up changing the cast. 😭

This drama doesn't really showcase the acting skills of Lu Yu Xiao. Or maybe it's too early to tell.. Even Liu Xie Ning is too muted :(

Most of the time it has to do with their mandarin accents. They need standard mandarin, other times it's because…
Well if you notice a lot of youth dramas, female leads are more high pitched than their actual voice. Ao Rui Peng's voice dub was deeper than his original voice in Moonlight Mystique. Albeiot, I think ARP's voice was just fine but who knows what the creators were thinking.

avoided her as an idol-turned actress since they usually tend to not be great. watched story of kunning palace....i…
I agree. Most kpop idols turned actors aren't great at acting but Xie Ning proved me wrong big time!

Chinese dramas have always been like that, so you just need to accept it. LOL

i personally quite like it.There's only 4 episodes, not sure why people are judging so quick already. lol We are still in the beginning stages and watching each individual character's personality shine and grow.

As for romance, it takes time. Seems to me its enemies to lovers. Except someone fell in love at first sight. 👀

is this a remake of kdrama Reply 1988?
Not every Chinese historical drama is a remake of Reply 1988. lol C-dramas made historical dramas longer than kdramas did.

No I have not. Who are the leads? MDL app search results isn't showing the drama you've mentioned.

I'm pretty excited for this because I love Lu Yu Xiao's acting ability. And Liu Xie Ning does a great job in her previous roles as well. Wang Xing Yue is okay, he doesn't really portray expressive characters so I'm not sure if I enjoyed his acting yet so let's see how he does in this one. I've never seen Wu Xuan Yi's dramas before but I will support a fellow Hainanese regardless! :)
