That's what I did. I watched season 1 years ago and when I realized the FL wasn't going to be in season 2 I just didn't bother watching it when it came out.
Season 1 is really good. To me, the story ended at season 1. It was enough.

I see some people on here saying ML has been "confessing" with every words he says... lol while true, he can be pretty clueless sometimes.... for example, that scene in episode 9 at the office when his employees were making a joke and referring to FL as the future Mrs Jiang, and he immediately told them it will never happen because she is his "bro" for life...🙄 That pissed me off... cause if you know you like this person and want to be with them, why say something like that?? Even if he's scared to lose the friendship, he could have just said nothing instead of insisting on the damn "bro" thing😒
That's what started the whole misunderstanding about their feelings because the FL overhead. So that's probably why it will be very hard for her to believe he likes her. So she's always trying to set the boundaries on their friendship because she scared of losing their friendship.
ML has no one to blame but himself. He boxed himself in a corner with the "bro" thing when they were young, he's doing it again as an adult.
While I love the friend group, I am starting to find the married couple VERY ANNOYING. They both always speak without thinking and they always have the WORST advice.😠I don't think ML or FL should be asking them for advice. Yes, they are married, but they really know nothing about adulthood dating cause they've been together since high school. They should not be giving advice on dating.💀

Yup, based on the novel, the one thing Pei Yan failed to calculate was his heart. So he lost it all. Lol this story is more about him and his ambitions and love, than it is about the ML. But you know, cdramas always have to downplay interesting 2MLs to prop up the ML. They have watered down Pei Yan's character so much...
Anyways, with what he is given, Jeremy is playing this role so well. Bringing the character to life so well that even though Pei Yan annoys us/ makes us uncomfortable, we still see his human side and are able to sympathize with him.
But she never asked for any of that. Of course she never cared about him in that way. She had only ever seen him as a friend. It was all his one sided love. Why should she be blamed for his one sided love? We are all free to like who we like, but that doesn't mean they have to like us back...

She said, "being nice to someone is quite easy. Anyone can be nice. But treating someone they want to be treated, not just your idea of how you want to treat them, and understanding them for who they are, that's the hard part."
SML never understood her or treat her how she wants to be treated. It was always his version of how thier life was once, and how it could be in the future. And he's very forceful with his "caring, "so he gets no sympathy from me.
