I agree with you on how most times FL are criticized to death (I am sometimes guilty of this, esp if the FL started out strong and reasonable but veer way off character midway) while ML are generally given the benefit of the doubt. For me, I put the blame squarely on writers. I have come to terms with the fact that c-drama writers just don't know how to write a balanced, nuanced FL. They always chose the extreme ends (silly, childish, dumb or emotionless, mean, nasty). So that's why most people unfortunately end up being too harsh to FLs.
Now for this show, I started out loving the FL (first 7eps will forever be my favorite.) But as the show progress, you can actually see them "dumb down" the FL. Not in her job, but her emotional intelligence and reasoning. That's fine, but they also had to make her too reckless. I think that's what a lot of people have an issue with.
Personally, I enjoy silly, a little childish FL when it's done right. For example, the FL in The Romance of Little Forest, is one of my favorite FL. She was silly, a little childish, and always pulling some antics, but her character was written right, so I enjoyed it.
Another show that pulled off the childish, silly, "dumb" character well is Sword Fairy 6. The FL was childish, but not in a childish way. She had good reasoning skill and was enjoyable to watch.
I just think that unfortunately, this FL in this show might be robbing people the wrong way because of how reckless they made her. All this to say, most cdrama writers just don't know how to write a good FL.

They live together. Sleep in the same room from episode 2 or so. So you get to see them interact from the beginning. You get to see their relationship develop

I just started watching it. I'm now on ep 20. It's a good show. You will fall in love with all the characters, even the one's you might find annoying. Lol the characters are that adorable.
It's fun and light, not too angsty. The main leads are cute and they live together, so you see their relationship builds up. It's not forced. You actually get to see them fall in love.

Yes, his parents loving her was such an added bonus to this show. FL character comes from a dysfunction family, so I was so glad she married into a family that showed her affection. Her parent-inlaws always stood up for her and dares anyone to mistreat their daughter inlaw. It was nice to see!
All in all Destined is all about relationships (friend, romantic, family, etc) and how we deal with them. How we cultivate this relationships, nourish them or let them die. (The emperor's relationship with his friend was one of the saddest).
Side note: I see someone recommend The Legend of Zhuohua to you. That's also a good show. You will really like the leads relationship. I'm actually on my 6th rewatch now( lol it's my comfort show😅🫣).
No, you feel the romance between them. It's one of those show were they do things for each other to show love, but didn't verbalize it until the middle part.
The story takes place in 3 different towns. The family is always on the move and throughout these journeys we see their relationship evolve. I promise, you will definitely enjoy this show.
Side note: The BEST thing about this show is the ABSOLUTE SUPPORT she has from his family. His parents adores her.

So his family gave her the sword, and all the best fighters they had to take with her to the brothel. His parents told her she could do with him as she see fits.😂
That brothel scene (episode 4) was funny, yet emotional. The conversation they had was eye opening for the ML. Their relationship starts developing there.
Anyway, after that scene, FL became known as a tigress and no one dares mess with her or mess with her man. 😂

The leads relationship development is one of the best. They were married within the first 10 episodes, fell in love within the next 15 or so episodes. And there's no traditional breakup.
This whole show is about them working together as husband and wife.
I think you should give it a chance. But it's all up to you!
Overall I really enjoyed the ending more than I thought I would. That fight scene in the jail was really well done. The cinematography was amazing to watch. It's like they were dancing and making love while fighting. So cute!
Prince Sui flipping his hair like a bad bitch infront of the throne made me LOL. That scene really tickled me😂😂 At the end of the day he's just a pathetic person who's afraid of his mother's disappointment. That scene was well done. I like how he ended.
Everyone got what was coming to them. (Good or bad). I was expecting a big battle but was quite surprised by how it all played out. I love it even more. The ending for the bad guy was fitting.
Will definitely rewatch (lol already rewatching)!! It has been nice discussing with you all on here for the past month! Now off to the next show I go. Hope to interact with yall again!

A little rant: In the year of our lord 2024, the technology era, the computer, and vfx era, you mean to tell me a big production like this couldn't edit this show properly to give us good dubbing??? They couldn't give us dubbing that matched the actors mouth??? WTF???
Hope the directors, and producers are being shamed in China. They need to be called out for allowing such atrocity to be put out. Such a wonderful show being overshadowed by bad dubbing. Pity...

Lol I was probably one of the ones here mainly complaining about how the shift of LMT from amnesia to "Lu Wen" was very poorly executed. I agree with you that she never lived up to this "myth" made up for her as this fearless person. So they wasted her character there. We got all this hype and it just fizzled out with nothing...
When it came to emotions, they made her too emotionless just to follow the cliché "strong" woman trope. This would have come out better if she didn't also hide her feelings from us viewers.
One of my main complaints was that her character was done a disservice in the middle. We get to see, feel, and experience EVERY emotion of CXZ, so naturally we root for him. But we didn't get the same treatment for LMT, so we never know how to approach her character post amnesia. It was okay for her to hide her emotions from CXZ, but not from us the viewers. At no point did I know what she was thinking in those (8 episodes or so?) Which was a pity. At that point, I even started skipping her scenes and was over their relationship.
The writers took an amazing character and messed it up to promote "strong" FL clichés. I think her character would have been more stronger if she had let us ( viewers) in on what she thinks and feels.
Anyways, overall I started enjoying the show again once all that chase was over. It was a good ride!! I'm actually rewatching right now. This time around, I'm trying to see if I will catch something to make me understand her story (middle part) arc better.

The story started with them being married. (A fake marriage).
She gains her memory in episode 17. They parted ways from the fake marriage in ep 23. They got back together in ep 31. Got a marriage certificate.
In episode 36, they had their wedding ceremony. It was really beautiful. They were still married in episode 40.
There's a "love" triangle but not worth mentioning, so I will leave you to make your own decision on that.
