fake it till you make it. it's a really good show. It's a full length drama (1hr episodes) but it only has 14 episodes.

Seven Tan is NOT the FL in General's Lady. That's a completely different actress.

Yup, based on the novel, the one thing Pei Yan failed to calculate was his heart. So he lost it all. Lol this story is more about him and his ambitions and love, than it is about the ML. But you know, cdramas always have to downplay interesting 2MLs to prop up the ML. They have watered down Pei Yan's character so much...

Anyways, with what he is given, Jeremy is playing this role so well. Bringing the character to life so well that even though Pei Yan annoys us/ makes us uncomfortable, we still see his human side and are able to sympathize with him.

But she never asked for any of that. Of course she never cared about him in that way. She had only ever seen him as a friend. It was all his one sided love. Why should she be blamed for his one sided love? We are all free to like who we like, but that doesn't mean they have to like us back...

When I first watched this years ago, I felt a little bad for the SML in the beginning cause he was doing all these noce things for her and she never cared. But rewatching again made me understand her character when I listened to what she told the ML in the cave when they were trapped.

She said, "being nice to someone is quite easy. Anyone can be nice. But treating someone they want to be treated, not just your idea of how you want to treat them, and understanding them for who they are, that's the hard part."

SML never understood her or treat her how she wants to be treated. It was always his version of how thier life was once, and how it could be in the future. And he's very forceful with his "caring, "so he gets no sympathy from me.

According to those who have read the novel, it doesn't have an happy ending. But who knows how the show will go...

Technically, Jeremy is not SML. There's no true SML. In the book, they are both ML. Jeremy's character is even more prominent in the book. The story revolves around him and his ambitions. Wei Zhao (Allen Ren's) character doesn't show up until much later.

But I guess they changed some things for the show. So, to me, while watching, I see them both as MLs.

But this character truly suits Jeremy. I am loving the way he is bringing the character to life!

I have been taking my time slowly watching this show, and I gotta say, I am enjoying it so far.

My only issue is that the dubber's voice doesn't match Jeremy Tsui character and demeanor. It also doesn't match Jeremy as an actor. I wish, wish he wasn't dubbed, so he can truly bring this character to life with his own voice. Right now, just his acting alone has done so much to bring the character to life. Imagine if it was his voice?? Uggghhh... I guess we can't get everything...

Anyways, I'm enjoying the characters and their journey. So far everyone and their story is interesting. Even the emperor and Pei Yan's mother. I would like to see how that relationship plays out later on.

Just to point out, this show is not really an "enemies to lovers plot" An enemies to lovers plot is where the relationship is equal on some level and each can retaliate against the other on a major scale. Where there is intense rivalry between the "couple" and they can balance out the rivalry because they are equal.

This is a show about a victim and perpetrator. They are NOT on equal level. The victim will end up falling in love with the perpetrator. It's a common romantic plot, but it's not an enemies to lovers one.

Anyways, I'm not here for the romace, just here to enjoy the ride of each character. Just wanted to point out the misconception of the enemies to lovers trope cause I see it thrown around here a lot lately.

About your side note: I COMPLETELY AGREE!!! Jeremy is playing his villain role so well that even though we know he's wrong, we sympathize with him and understand him on some level.

He brings a human touch to the character that nutsack wasn't able to bring to his. Even though they gave nutsack all romantic scenes with FL, he still wasn't able to capture the audience heart because the role wasn't brought to life properly.

But Jeremy is able to make us connect with his character, and make us anticipate the character's next move. He's really an amazing actor!!

Yep, I hate when production houses don't promote their upcoming shows. Youku is notorious for this. They just drop a show with no promotion and go about their day, hoping for the best😂

Before this show premired, I really saw no promotion on social media except by a melon page. I only knew about this show cause I had most of Jeremy Tsui shows on my watchlist. 😢

Lol don't even get me started on UTP. Every time they are on that damn boat and fake water I roll my eyes😂😂

But that drama is also my comfort show. I've rewatched it like 5 times already😭

It was in that drama that I first discovered Seven Tan. (In 2021). And I went on a watching spree of her shows. She has become one of my favorite actress. My favorite show of hers is TSATB( lol though a lot of people can't stand that the ML have many concubines) I loved it all. I love mess like that😂

Apparently in the novel, there's really no real ML. Both of them are MLs.

In the novel, the story revolves around Pei Yan. It's not until much later that Wei Zhao is more in the story.

But for drama sake, they have changed things around to make Wei Zhao ML, but kept some of the essence of the novel. That's probably why you are feeling like there's no real ML. There's not supposed to be one.

I am excited about it. I can't wait to see Pei Yan and Wei Zhao one up eachother!

Oh I didn't know Pei Yan had a higher role than Wei Zhao in the book. Interesting... I guess we will see why the drama made that change

This show just started TODAY. You should watch it with the rest of us to know whether it happy ending or not. I don't think anyone can predict that just yet.

Maybe novel readers, but then again, dramas change from novels all the time
