The storytelling of this show keeps getting better and better. The last two episodes were CRAZY. That freaking magistrate??? I can't wait to see his downfall! Anyway, I want to focus on our FL for a sec.
Xu fangfei is such a sad character. Her life has been so emotionally hard ever since her "death" even though she's "strong" and holding on, everyone she ends up caring for dies (first Jiang Li, now Qingzhi). All that is probably messing with her mentally. Plus she hasn't been able to really grieve her own "death" properly. She's probably suffering from PTSD, and CPTSD. But doesn't really have time to reflect cause she's on autopilot trying to get justice.
Hope the show handles her mental anguish well and not just gloss over it with romance. I know we are all enjoying the romantic moments between the leads (chemistry is top notch and amazing to watch) but lets not forget that she is a character that has been through a lot and is still going through a lot. And need to heal.
On another note, I am enjoying the development of her relationship with ML. I like how their romance is not separate from the main plot. So far, their romace is not a burden that drags the plot down, but rather it intertwine with it seamlessly. Hope it stays that way. The story is getting more and more interesting and Huxiang county is about to play a big role in the overall plot!! I'm excited for 20 and 21!!!

The story still good. I'm still liking the pacing. One thing I really love about this show is the amazing dialogue between the leads. I know I've said this before, but I'm going to say it again, FL is really amazing in this role. She's a good actress that portrays her emotional roles really well. I'm enjoying her. The useless dad is still clueless and useless. Like what do you mean you didn't see through the plot of the royal concubine and your wife planning to send your daughter away? USELESS...
Lol everyone in this show to some degree is a schemer. And I love that. Nobody is there just because. Eaxh character had a role to play and is playing it well.
I love that the Ye family embraced JL and they are working together. The real JL in someway finally has a family. The last scene in ep 17 was emotional to watch.
I'm liking the romance btw the leads. It's coming on nicely! I love the way FL says ML name. It's very sexy. Based on previews of ep q8 and 19, I'm excited to see how everything plays out!!
Just finished the latest episodes and this show is getting more and more amazing. The acting from everyone is still top notch and the storytelling is getting really good and interesting.
One thing I love about this is the versatility of the FL personality. I love that she is serious, strong and smart because of the things she's been through. However, she's also funny and silly when the situation calls for it, and it's not akward. I love that she can get silly with her cousins and her friends from the school. It's such an unexpected side of her personality that I am enjoying. The actress is pulling it off pretty well!!
She's been through A LOT. The writers could have just chose to keep her character as the "serious" type. (It would be justified) However, I love that they didn't make her troubles solely define her. Her silly side is showing us who she used to be before all the betrayals. And I'm enjoying seeing her get silly with her close friends.
That qin playing scene from both the sisters was good to watch. Lol I love the whole xianxia bit of it. The director really did a good job showing the emotions the songs evoke in real time. I guess he made use of the number 1 rule in writing: show, don't tell. It was so nice watching that scene.
Lol I hope Shen keeps getting mentally totured until he confess. I can't wait for him and his family's downfall. Next episode is bound to be interesting with the stepmother. I can't wait!!

I understand your frustration and comment because lately, some dramas have been disappointing. However, I don't think it's right for you to say that under a drama that is being praised for being exceptionally well done (story, plot, chemistry, and acting). All your comments DO NOT apply to this drama, so why say it? You could have just said the drama isn't for you and move on, but why make such unnecessary comments?
There are so many disappointing dramas this year, go say it on those pages. You will be justified then. But making this comment on this page just feels like you are looking for negative attention and trying to get people angry.
Also, while LBFAD was good and I enjoyed it, to me, when I consider top C-dramas, it doesn't even make the top 10. There are so many amazing C-dramas out there that LBFD doesn't even touch. But it's still a show I enjoyed.

Though the premise is nothing new, (a lot of shows like this this year) it's the execution that makes it stand out on its own and become different from others. Every scene grips you and captures your interest. The characters are interesting (villains and heroes) and bring a good chemistry to the screen. It all makes for one wonderfully told story.
This is my first time seeing the FL (never watched story of Yanxi Palace) and I must say, she has now become one of my favorite actress. Her acting is top notch and she's making her character to become one of the best FL in c-drama (hope writers don't mess with her character). The details she brings to her character (eye movement, hands, lips) are all done well to paint a picture of someone who has been through a lot. That scene with her confronting the Ex husband (as the real her/as Jiang Li) speaking in innuendos and baiting him. That was amazing!!!
The dad is the most useless, and oblivious dad to exist. If outsiders can see how evil your wife is to your daughter, how can't you see it?? Like he really let that woman make him send his 6yr old away on the charges of murder?? This man is too useless.
The actress playing the maid is always playing a maid. I think her acting skills are good. I hope the industry gives her a chance to play a FL. Looking forward to that time!
I can't wait for everyone evil to get their comeuppance. Lol I don't know who needs to get theirs first, but I'm looking forward to it.
