Lol me personally, the age gap doesn't matter to me. They are both adult. She's 25 and not a teenager, so I have no problem with that.
I do see where others are coming from. The FL is used to starring in teenage/high school dramas, so a lot of people have infantilize her. And for them this feels weird. So I understand.
But at the same time, I tend not to not take the age gap complainers seriously because some people were on here complaining about Jing Tian being too young to star in a drama with feng shao feng in The Legend of Zhuohua. She is 35. Yet people were saying she was too young. 🙄
Anyways, I'm going to reserve my comment until I watch the drama. As long as the drama doesn't infantilize her or make her act like a stupid/dumb teenager, then it's fine with me. Here's to hoping I enjoy it!!!

I did sympathize with him, but I guess not enough. They didn't really let us viewers really take in what he's being through. Like when he told MCH about his past after the grandmother died, it was done in a sentence or two. It was done so quickly and the moment passed so quickly that it didn't give us enough time to really sit with that information and process it.
His background was too glossed over in the beginning and they made it seem like that was it. That he had a bad past but with the help of his grandmother, was able to overcome it. I believed that.
But because they downplayed his background, when they came back to it (with the father appearing) it didn't have the emotional impact it was supposed to have.
To me, his character really fell flat. He wasn't in a lot of scenes. Sometimes, he only showed up once or twice. I just think they didn't do his character justice. That's all.
This was a good watch. The first 15 or so episodes were a rollercoaster of emotions. But it all worked out in the end.
This is very much a family drama where the mother is the main character. Everything revolves around her decisions (good or bad) and how said decisions impact her adult children. This drama might not be for everyone, so be warned.
Though I love the Xu kai as the ML, I do believe he was wasted in this drama. They introduced him with a bang. I was looking forward to his character's story. But then his character fizzled out and became flat.
I think the writers biggest mistake is that they never let us viewers sympathize with his story. His back story was always told in one sentence and glossed over and made not important. So even when his deadbeat dad finally showed up, it had no emotional punch for me. It just felt annoying. ML character was just there as a "support" for FL and her family. No other substance but that.
Even the FL brother had an interesting storyline that made us sympathize with him. I don't get why they couldn't do this with ML. But all the same, it was a good watch!
What other dramas are we all watching next? I'm already watched blossoms in Adversity. Any other suggestions?

That is one thing I also appreciate about this show. I love that they didn't use the "secret identity" as an annoying plot point to create some kind of big misunderstanding between the leads, that drags on and on. That reveal was done at the right time!!

It showcase the different dynamics between family (an overbearing mother who wants the best for her daughter, but going about it the wrong way, a supportive but passive father, and a supportive strong younger brother), friends, work colleagues, and a supportive grandmother.
On the romantic relationship side, it shows how complex a relationship can get when everyone is only looking out for themselves. Also when they don't know how to stand up for themselves or thier loved ones.
All the different relationship dynamics is what makes the show good!!

She said "I thought we were family because we visit and take care of grandmother together" she says this because she sees him as family and to her, family don't betray eachother like that.
It makes sense that she would say that in that moment because YZM was using her for her connection to the grandmother, while acting like he isn't. So of course she would feel that way.
But throughout this show, so far, MCH has not used her grandmother. Even when she could have two episodes ago, she did not do it. Even the grandmother respects her for that.

That's the reason she was angry and sad. Plus she was framed for the other bribery Of course she has a right to be mad when everyone is using her as a scapegoat for their greediness.

I got into it right away. The first 4 episodes I was hooked. Maybe it was the anticipation of waiting for new episodes cause I started watching it from when it premiered.
All episodes are out now, so there's no mystery or anticipation anymore. There's no break in between to really digest what you are watching.
The drama is very romance and character driven. It takes it's time with the characters because their development is very important. So it might seem slow to some people. If you are not into it by ep 11, then maybe it's not your cup of tea.
Don't beat yourself up. Not every drama is for everyone. For example, I've tried watching "Ancient Love Poetry" three times now but each time I stop around ep 19 cause I find it too boring. And that's a show that everyone recommends. But I just can't get into it.
All this to say, please don't feel bad if you are not enjoying this show. Just cause everyone likes it don't mean you have to too!! I hope you find something else!!

It was so good to see Furong finally take his calling seriously and offered to help her holiness. Lol I knew Furong's sister had a way to enter the extranatural heaven and was just lying before 😂
On a side note, this show is reminding me a little bit of Love and Destiny and making me rewatch it. That show has a mature ML too that I love. But I just didn't feel like the love story was well developed. But maybe I wasn't paying attention. Lol Maybe now I will be able to finish that show. Cause I always drop it around ep 50 something.. (tried twice already). Maybe this time I can finish it.
