Depends on what your scale is for "really good" I loved it. It has become one of my feel good shows that I watch when I'm feeling down because I enjoy it so much. It also has my favorite modern rom- com actress, Zhang Yu Xi, (lol I call her the romcom queen😂) so that was good.

Lol I can't believe I read all of this from beginning to end😭... it was a good summary. I agree with mostly everything. And mildly disagree with some...very mildly.
Yes, I agree that they took TOO LONG for the reveal/being brother and sister. Lol it took so long and it was too convincing that by the time they got around to the reveal I had given up any romantic plot and just accepted them as brother and sister 😂... However, I think it took that long because a lot of things had to happen for the reveal to take place. A lot of characters had to be introduced for things to make sense. Though a little off, the pacing was still good.
IMO, where it all went wrong and the pacing became wack was after the reveal. A new arc started, but the romace is non existence. I love how they seamlessly transition to dating, but there was no dating. We had "romance" when they were "siblings" but NO ROMANCE when they are actually dating. We had 20 something eps of them being siblings, but just angst and separation when they are actually together for 5 episodes. They went from brother and sister to married. So, I feel cheated a little bit.
I do like the second couple. I loved that she got an actual story and not just used as a "fat" joke relief like many cdramas like to do with people that don't have the "conventional" body type. Now, I do agree that their story dragged. The writers lost their way a little bit.
When this show initially started, I got The Story of Ming Lan vibes from it. In the middle, with everything happening with the wives, it gave The Sword and the Brocade vibes. Overall, nice show to watch to relax.

And the cliché excuse used? ML wanting to "save" her and not let her get involved. Excuse me?? Is she a delicate flower? She's an assassin for chrissake. She needs to take her revenge. I hate when they make characters behave out of character. MRJ decision and Mei Lin meek submission to it felt so out of character.

They wrapped up a major arc too early (10 episodes too early). I would have love to see ML and FL navigate their relationship while still fighting the crown prince. Not this Xiyan arc.

On one end, I hate that he used Mei Lin that way. It was such a curel plan. On the other end, he was someone accused of massacring a whole town (100,000 people?) And he lived with that accusation for ten years. He lost his dignity, and will to live for the first 3 years. He lived in isolation as a cripple with nothing but revenge on his mind. So I can see how he could come up with such a curel revenge plan. In his mind at the time, nobody/nothing mattered. Everyone is just a pawn in his quest for revenge. So when Mei Lin showed up to kill him the first time? She gave him the will to live...lol very twisted.
BUT on the other end, maybe he should have come clean to Mei Lin when they started falling in love?? It would have been better if it came from him that early than it coming from someone else.
I'm so torn because they are very much in love now. I don't want anything to come between them. Lol they need to have a good talk and stop stressing us out😭😭

I guess... My intial comment wasn't critiqing people commentting on the show. It was a comment to show another side of Mei Lin cause I think people misunderstood her. The comment about critics was in response to someone else comment.
But anyways... that's exactly how I feel about the comment section on MDL lately. Not just this drama. It's good to critique, I do it too... It's fun sometimes and opens discussions... But when people are complaining every other episode about every single thing, that just goes beyond critique. It's not fun anymore. I come here cause I enjoy reading everyone's comments. I say that all the time. But once it's all complaining non stop, it stops being fun😭
I get it, I truly understand. There have been some shows on here that have annoyed the heck out of me *cough cough... TPR, YAMS LON, to name a few*** But once I found myself getting to the point where I had nothing good to say about those shows anymore, I stopped commenting on those shows. Cause I know my constant complain might annoy others...
