I have one gripe though - I wish she didn't go to the other guy's house and that bit was executed better.. it's…
Agreed, that was a really awkward timeskip. As far as her going from one guy's house to the other's and then back again.... it might be really awful and kind of cringe.... but in RL it happens frequently enough that I wouldn't see it as unrealistic. It's just that as the viewer, it leaves you wanting more meat on that part of the story. Something about it seems disjointed and clunky.
This was quite the surprise package. It may appear smut on the surface with all those steamy kisses and hot scenes…
YES, I forgot to mention in my comment, that the acting - especially by the ML - is far better than the show itself, and ML elevated the drama by giving his character a lot of unexpected depth. He CAN act. And so can the FL and 2ML, although not quite to the same degree. The male voice actor was super funny too.
the 2ML is quite a bit hotter than the ML, there is that. And he is vying for the FL's affections, so there is…
Not exaaaactly, because 2ML doesn't get a whole lot of screentime, but the stark contrast between the two is what got to me. Some people don't think the 2ML is all that. But you can easily see whether it's going to bother you or not when 2ML and FL meet in the early episodes. And if it bothers you like it did me, you can just dip out.
Starts off pleasantly spicy, and then by about the halfway mark, you can kiss all the spicy goodbye and you are left with just a mellow sweetness.
The plot is a vapid and predictable assortment of cliches and tropes, but that's very tolerable because it's executed well. There are also several breathtakingly beautiful scenes just on a cinematography level, in that distinctly japanese way, and I appreciated that. But the story is just so lacking in substance, in much the same way as coffee & vanilla (although this is much better than coffee & vanilla, overall due to a greater sense of detail and artistry).
There were times where this drama tempted me to give it an 8. But my 8's or above are reserved for dramas I think stand out and have a well-rounded feel to them, which this does not when all is said and done. It lacked creativity and a sense of pacing, in the story department. Every episode was well-paced, but the total drama was not laid out in a way that flowed very well as far as the spice/sweet balance. So..... 7.5 and worth a one-time watch.
the 2ML is quite a bit hotter than the ML, there is that. And he is vying for the FL's affections, so there is that as well. He is nice to the FL from the outset, and the ML is not. He has better hair than the ML. And he's a bandit, if you go for the bad boy type.
I got 2ML syndrome bad on this one, and I have seen 300 or so dramas, and only gotten 2ML syndrome maybe 5 times ever. This was one of those times. Not because the 2ML is so hot and dangerous and well written..... but because the ML is a disaster. Just imo.
I don't see a problem with their age gap. The story is really about their age differences and Shen Keyi is called…
You fell for Choi Si Won, adorbs!!! One of the worst ones for me was Something About 1 Percent. I took one look at Kim Hyung Min and it was GG, knock me over with a feather, wahhhhh! It was so so hard for me to finish that one because of it. Another infamous one: Easy Fortune Happy Life. Roy Chiu is (arguably) past his prime (although I still thought he was hot in Man In Love from 2021), but at the time of filming oh my godddd it was no contest between him and the ML. They should never have cast anyone that smokin hot to be a 2ML, big mistake. Huge.
Neck = point taken. Fair observation. I think I'm seeing wrinkles, but it's like wrinkles from tautness around the jawline. Adam's apple is like.... hard to look at, and yet hard to look away from.
All this could have been solved, or at least mitigated, by just draping some hair over the sides of his face/over his shoulders.

No no, lol... not grizzly.... GIZZARDY. Like... he has a gizzard. A wattle. A turkey neck. I don't mind a lot of age gap romances. Some of my very very top rated dramas are age gap dramas. I've said it like 50 times up in here, but it's not the age gap that bothers me. It's the fact that he is supposed to be playing a character 20 years younger than the actor actually is, and he doesn't pass for someone in their late 20's. Also, the makeup and styling was really really low-effort and they didn't bring out his best. So to me, they look mismatched, and also he looks like not a good fit for the role he is playing.
Not about the age gap! At least, not for me, anyway. And also they did not obey the Asian Drama Rules for love triangle: The ML should always be hotter than the 2ML. I get that some people find the ML hotter, but I don't.... I think the 2ML is way way WAYYY hotter than the ML. They could easily have found a 2ML who looks slightly goofy, that by contrast would have made the ML look more attractive. But they didn't.
IAs I said before, no chinese drama is perfect nowadays ,I watch the "Journey to Love,at first,it starts with…
I watch asian dramas because they haven't been infected with Woke programming. At least.... not yet anyways. I've seen some woke bullcrap in some k-dramas like Itaewon Class... but most are ok. But even Hallmark is badly badly infected with woke at this point. I find it unwatchable in the extreme.
Don't let insignificant details dampen your enjoyment; I remain neutral. overall package concern . Just as we…
This is one of the more civilized comments sections on MDL right now, where you can still have a decent discussion with people who you don't agree with and laugh about stuff and at least still be ok about disagreements. Unlike a lot of the pages I've come across lately where if you don't agree with people you get attacked most viciously. This is a good crowd.
agree totally. I am pretty tired of age gap rants. Unless it's a minor, I don't see the problem with age gaps…
I don't have a big problem with drama age gaps, sometimes they're hot. But to think that in RL there's no problem with them is a little bit misleading. If they go long term they face MAJOR challenges, lots of them. I could get into it because I have some really up close personal experience with major age gap relationships. It's not pretty. Once one of them passes about the age of 60, things get extremely challenging. I don't think it's necessarily wrong to be in a relationship like that, but it is HARDER than being in a conventional relationship, and for most people I'd think it's probably not worth it in the end because of all the suffering that can go along with it. Some people like to say "age is just a number", but it's not. Age is a reality that can't be worked around. What happens when you're in a sexy relationship with great sex, and then one of the people can no longer have sex? What if you want to hug someone tight, but you can no longer do that because they could bruise? What if you can't go on your favorite walks anymore or have to move out of your dream house because your lover can't safely use the stairs anymore? What if you spend 20 years of your life walking at half-speed because your lover can't keep pace with you anymore? What if you spend 10 of your middle years bathing and dressing your lover who can't do it themselves, and you slip a disc in your lower back, and end up half crippled during what are supposed to be your prime years? How sexy is it when everywhere you go, people assume you are with your mother or your father? And your friends don't want to come over for dinner anymore?
There's a lot of things that challenge a RL age gap LTR. Your love will constantly be tested, and at some point before one partner is ready, your sex life will pretty much come to an end before your body thinks its time.
I've seen people in these relationships devoted to eachother, and I'd never say it was "wrong". But it takes a toll on everyone involved.
