Episode 21

His ex is back. That’s who I said tried to choke Xia Yan, but she’s pretending to be a nice person outwardly. No, he does not want to be with her and he’s made that clear to both the ex and Xia Yan

This is starting to give me strong Kdrama makjang vibes. That ex gf actually tried to choke Xia Yan in the elevator scene before attempting to “save” her. That was scary. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s going to turn psycho later.

The two were trying to convince her that the ex bf is really a bad guy and she shouldn’t believe the persona that he’s showing her. But she still goes on defending him so Han Shuang asks if she really likes him. She admits that she’s liked him before Xia Yan and he got together and she pushed those feelings aside since they started dating.

He said he was sorry he couldn’t be there in time to protect her from being framed, but he would never allow her to be fired. She thought he crashed his car because he was rushing back to meet her, and before he could explain it was because of the voice message from his old flame she kissed him. He then admits again that he likes her. He’s liked her since he first saw her at the airport. He lied to himself at first, thinking that he was only trying to help her get away from the scumbag ex-bf, but even after they split he still couldn’t see her as just a colleague. When he was in the US and she met with trouble, he was very regretful that he didn’t confess sooner. If she was his gf, she would’ve come to him for help. Then he asked her to let him be with her from now on, no matter if it’s in times of happiness or sadness.

The traditional Chinese outfits right? Looks like it’s Han Shuang and Ma Ke’s wedding that they’re attending. FML seems to be running after Han Shuang who ran off angry and ML was calling her back.

It bothers me whenever she hits him too. That scene when she was beating him with the basket would never be tolerated if the genders were reversed. I actually really like the theme of social media and the change it can bring to rural towns so that part is keeping me interested. Reminds me of Li Ziqi and her YouTube videos. Plus I love BJT’s acting.

I’ve seen the 4 eps that are out and this is turning out to be such a pleasant surprise. Just the right amount of cuteness without the cringe and she’s actually a capable grown woman. I don’t feel like the story is happening just to fulfill a writer’s fantasy of dating a younger man. It’s well established why he would be in love with her so I can actually believe that if they were real people, they would actually work out.

It’s strange that the writer can make you follow and root for the leads, but not feel the same for the side characters… I now feel the book cafe owner is too good for that friend with how her story is progressing.

This became one of those dramas you should just fast forward everyone else and watch just for the leads.

I thought I was getting weird vibes from her when they were eating together while waiting for Xia Yan to get off work in the earlier episode. I think it’s going to be a pretty toxic relationship. Her endgame seems to be the book cafe owner.

Looks like it’s about to happen as you say lol. Ex-bf and boss lover broke up at the end of episode 12 today and now the snippets from the intro and outro make sense. It seems like they will start dating.

Yeah that part with the female lead was so stupid just for dramatic purposes. Zhang Binbin is the best thing about this drama.

He plays very different characters from each other. If you’re in the mood for more romance then I’d watch Be Together. Rattan is completed so you can finish that faster, but it has more focus on the plot where the romance isn’t the main point.

I’m guessing she’s going to go through growth, but her outbursts just turn me off to her character. Especially when she blew up at Xia Yan over a guy she just knew for like a few hours, and they’re supposed to be best friends. Ridiculous.

Her boyfriend had been cheating on her while they were in their long distance relationship before the drama started. She eventually found out by episode 9 so they broke up. The male lead knew of this because he caught the boyfriend with his mistress when he was on a business trip and recognized his picture when he saw female lead on the video call with him in episode one. You can assume that male lead already knew of female lead before she started working for him because in one of his conversations with his buddy, he mentioned that she saved him once so he should repay the favor by helping her realize that her bf is a cheater.

I binged all 10 episodes released and it's safe to say this drama is worth following if you're a fan of Zhang Binbin and Sun Yi. Even if you're not, they got enough chemistry, visuals, and decent acting to keep you interested.

The Good:
- Mature female lead who’s not a ditz.
- Male lead who doesn't start off being mean to our female lead. I also like the misunderstood as bad boy lead who's actually a nice guy trope. He just went about things in the wrong way. No wonder she thought he was a creep 😄
- Main couple has lots of chemistry and sexual tension
- Focuses on female friendships. Good for fans of dramas like Ode to Joy.
- Lots of characters, so many intertwining storylines which will keep the scenes moving and the drama from dragging too much.

The Bad:
- Some characters can be annoying and over the top at times. Ma Li's character, especially. She gives me whiplash with her temper tantrums and yelling one day, and the next day she would be fine and apologizing. One of the girlfriend's younger brother is also a hot-headed yeller. So much yelling when they're going at it with each other.
- The workplace politics get a little boring with the typical female superior who's jealous because she's crushing on the male lead.
- Scumbag boyfriend gets too much screen time.
- A personal thing, but I don't like the actor's voice who's paired with the surgeon friend. Sounds like he's just finishing off the remaining effects of helium inhalation.

As with most Cdramas, there is always a possibility of things going bad and making me drop, but so far so good. Overall, I recommend checking it out. Especially if you're in the mood for a more mature relationship development with lots of sweet couple moments. 👍

No, it’s only Monday and Tuesday uploads. But next Wednesday they’re releasing up to episode 18 for fast track viewing in China. Not sure if YouTube will do the same.
