I interpreted it as reverse psychology. I don’t think he has any ill intentions towards Wei Shao since they grew up together as brothers and their relationship is close. He does have a hidden attraction to Qiao Xiao, and is perhaps jealous of their marriage since she is off limits to him, he can’t pursue her openly. From the beginning he was against her because she is a Qioa and I suspect that he is using his initial hatred to push Wei Shao to appreciate his wife more. At least this is how I read that interaction. He’s a morally grey character so far so there’s always room to question his real intent.

She's related to the family through the grandmother in the novel. Shes older than Wei shao and back then women were married off young. With the war going on it meant there was too much turbulence in the Wei family + having to observe funeral rituals. I suppose her family weren’t going to wait around for things to settle and therefore married her off to a more suitable choice. Its a bit ambiguous in drama atm. I saw prior comments saying she was engaged to his elder brother instead. Maybe wei shao had an interest in her back then. But there's definitely a rift between the two since on the wedding night he discarded the gift she sent.

I love how flustered Xiao Qiao was sitting right next to Wei Shao 💕💕 like girlie you chose to sit there 😭😭 and sneaking glances at his side profile. I would too 🤭Wei Shao just sitting there calmly with an arm around her. I know my boy has a full-blown storm going on in his heart internally, and didnt try anything in order to not scare her off. 🥺 they're slowly warming up to each other despite the caution and its so lovely to see it unfold

They truly changed a lot about Master Wei 🤔 His intentions are quite ambiguous but certainly more crafty than source. He’s meddling a lot with Wei Shao’s wife, and what gets me is the lord is so passive about it? I was hoping for more fire and brimstone but Wei Shao is less impulsive here (has its pros and cons, i love the fluff but dying for angst) Heres hoping they get to that point asap.

I keep getting photos of this drama's costumes all over my Pinterest feed. LYX is nothing short of majestic! He embodies the ethereal Xianxia aura so elegantly, I can't get enough! I do miss the prior title though. A chant versus a whisper? It's lost some of the mystique and foreboding energy imo.

I havent completed the novel yet but Wei Yan gives 🚩🚩🚩He is a womaniser and the way he lusts after Xiao Qiao, despite knowing she is married to Wei Shao, is hhhh. The moment talked about here, he is drunk, recreates a portrait of her in his bedroom and proceeds to please himself. However… the way our dear Wei Shao reacts learning about this 🔥🔥🔥 im still reading through that section. I would highly recommend checking out the novel if you dont mind a darker take of events.

Wei Yan covets his brothers wife, secretly lusting after her ever since their first meeting. He becomes incredibly drunk one night after seeing her, crashes at home and paints a full portrait of her on the wall of his bedchamber. Then he proceeds to please himself. 😦 He is nothing but creepy behind walls

Ahh ep.9 and my heart breaks for Wei Shao. That man hardly had a childhood 🥺 and my- just the way he tugged onto Qiao Man’s skirt in the dark. Such a stark difference to the fiery imposing lord we had in the initial eps 😭💕 the fragility of that scene was well handled. I only wish there was a bit more build-up beforehand.
