Not really other than their petite size maybe? Zhao Lusi's face is sweet and childlike while Song Zuer has sharper…
Ohh tysm! That’s a really good side-by-side of them both. Def not as similar as i initially considered 🤔

The acting of Song Zu Er in this drama is excellent. The costumes are also well made.
Agree! I havent seen her dramas before, nor the MLs but pleasantly surprised! They both highly suitable for their roles and chemistry is sizzling 🤭

I kinda Didn't expect that Neck grab🤣 bro i Thought you were swaying for her lately? what's that chokehold…
Ikr? Totally caught me off guard. 🫣 I don't condone violence but that moment was incredibly impactful. He is so hot and cold with her, keeping her close but also at a distance. I can't wait to see the aftermath of where we left off in ep.7

I already rewatched this drama this year but looking back i wanna watch it again. Are there any other dramas that deal with several lifetimes in the same way? I dont think ill ever recover from their second lifetime. 😭

I really enjoyed this drama and the depth it brought especially to the world-building in the mortal realm. I still have some remaining qualms tho having reached the end. It felt like it was on the precipice of a transcendent story but never quite reached its full potential. I think my favourite character was definitely the ML. He is very complex and hard to read.

Gyeongbokgung is gorgeous! I visited a few years back and totally want to go again! They have a really cool museum situated nearby as well which had free entry at the time. Also worth a look!

This was such a fun quiz! “Hopeful Innocent” def sums my up style 😄💕 I used to hang on till the end but realised some dramas simply aren’t worth my time. Sometimes the premise is promising, or the genre is right, or there’s a character I fall in love with, so I’ll hold out just a little longer. But hope is a double edged sword. It can be rewarding or painfully disappointing. 😭😭

Indeed, Xiang liu's character charm is beautiful. Hatsoff to Tan Jianci, portrayed his character brilliantly.…
I’ll certainly have a read through! Maybe even pick up the novel while I’m at it since there’s a lot to dissect and I love delving into others interpretations. Tysm!!

Love both actors tbh but voting for Dylan since I’ve been following his journey since 2018 💕💕

This comment is wonderfully poetic and insightful! Tysm ~ it gives me some peace of mind 💕 I've yet to finish this season, aware there's more heartbreak ahead, but I wholeheartedly believe Xiaoyao was waiting for Xiang Liu, whether or not she was willing to acknowledge it. It seems Xiang Liu recognised he couldn't fulfil her companionship requirements in this life, so although he desired more between them, he respected her conditions. He may come across as cruel to some viewers, but I sense that once he recognised his feelings for her and their standing, he intentionally created distance in order to protect her. Let her think his help is purely transactional, that he is nothing more than the demon the rest of the world takes him for, the one no girl wishes for in their dreams. Don't give her an inkling of his true intentions, leave no room for the conflict that would follow given his affiliations set against her family from the onset. I'm aware this is also a point of contention for the audience, Xiang Liu’s unwavering devotion to a declining cause. Why couldn't he give it up if he truly loved Xiao Yao? Although the drama failed to provide this issue with the depth it required, i don't find his decisions unreasonable. There were many years before Xiao Yao, events we aren't privy to. It is discerned by Xiao Yao that had the order of things been different, if she had been the one to rescue him back then, there might've been a chance for them. Despite this rift between them, its clear Xiaoyao was secretly yearning for him. Her final gift to him, the mermaid globe, confirmed it for me. It was her last chance as a physician to make something, a skill that was remarkably important to her, and yet out of all the potential receivers, her first choice was him. It was indeed metaphorical for a final gift. The necessity for experts in fire and ice was incredibly symbolic. Two destructive elements that are physically incompatible in their nature, merging together in creation. Not to mention Xiang Liu is known for his ice capabilities, we can infer Xiaoyao to be the fire. The primary symbolism being the contents of the globe, the rare mermaid call was for lovers and courtship, and she deliberately incorporated this in its design. What alternative message could that possibly articulate apart from a forlorn lover? She typically developed poison for him, however I have yet to confirm if this final gift was a unique exception. And more so, the scene where A’Nian in a drunken state wishfully requested Xiao Yao’s grandfather to approve of her marrying Cang Xuan. Who does Xiao Yao ask about to prove a point? Why was it Xiang Liu and not Tushan Jing, when either one would've been controversial to name? Who does she want to live the rest of her life with and why isn't she honest with herself about it? There are many moments like these which I believe ultimately convey Xiao Yao’s underlying sentiments. Perhaps if rebirth does exist in Dahuang, would there be a second chance for them in the next life? Is that even what these characters ultimately deserve? At the end of the day I appreciate all the nuances and complexities the author has brought to life in this story. It has been highly engaging throughout and certainly leaves the viewer/reader craving more. Sidenote, forgive my enthusiasm, this was a lengthy speel. I’ve come to cherish this exceptionally layered tale.

Omggg It’s been a long, long time since I’ve had second-lead whiplash … Let alone third-lead. So many what-ifs come to mind when it comes to Xiang Lu. I don’t know whether to respect or detest him for not confessing his feelings for Xiao Yao. I’m sure he can sense there is something more but their hearts are both too guarded. He took a lot of her comments to heart, from their initial meeting up until their last. Yes, plot-wise they were doomed from the start, and it would’ve taken the will of heaven to turn it all around. I didn’t want to like him in the beginning but as the story progressed his charm really grows on you. 😔 *sigh* another one for the list.
