I agree it’s an excellent rating, because douban reviews are notoriously harsh. The Long Ballad imo should have a much higher rating than 5.9, while A Dream of Splendor is definitely inflated as it was LYF’s first drama in 16 years (so people were excited).

Thank you for being the voice of reason lol. So many people are taking the rumors as absolute truth and freaking out. I also remember how a lot of people were sure part 1 was going to be delayed because of the bows, and they ended up confirming the day before that it would air on schedule, so I have faith in this.

There’s not a lot of precedent for this since the 40-episode rule that made them break it up into 2 parts is pretty recent. The only other drama I can think of that has aired recently with 2 parts was The Blue Whisper, and part 2 aired immediately after part 1.

Baili is way worse. She was actually evil. XYY is misguided but in her mind she’s doing the best for NN.

A lot of times they aren’t explicitly mentioned but most leads in historical dramas are teens because that was the norm back then

I just saw that Immortal Samsara has a similar number of total episodes (57) but it’s divided into 38 for pt 1 and 19 for pt 2. I wish they did this with LLTG so we can get more developments with the leads before having to potentially wait for pt 2 🥲. Then pt 2 can just focus on what happens after the 5 year skip.

Please let us just pay more to watch Part 2 earlier. Tencent take my money

It would be way worse to have age-accurate actors, as in, would you really want to see an actual 15 year old be in a romance with a 21 year old? That was the norm back in the day but would be really inappropriate today. Also like others have said, it’s done all the time in television in all countries.

It looks high quality but for some reason I can’t ever get into xianxias. The only one I managed to finish was TMOPB but that took a lot of effort still haha.

She’s so biased and her criticisms can be super technical. I watch her reviews for entertainment but I disagree a lot. She’s really biased against young and good-looking actors lol. She also showered praised on ADOS when it wasn’t even that good after you take into account the second half, which was a mess.

Given how Youku just dropped Immortal Samsara with no warning, I can see Tencent pulling the same thing (especially since Part 1 premiere date was confirmed like the day before airing) and announcing it next Tuesday/Wednesday when Part 1 is ending.
