Yeah, I didn’t want her to get redemption either. It seems out of place that she’s an overly exaggerated villain for 11 episodes and then all of the sudden in the last episode she has a change of heart. That’s just lazy screenwriting in order to force a happy ending for everyone. 🫤

Secondary couples? Who? Thanks in advance.
oops, in the final episode the secretary and team leader get together. It also looks like the 2ML and the FL’s best friend might get together too. Apparently everyone magically pairs up in the final episode.

Watch ep12 on Viki now. They already released it but listed it as ep11. (Small problem: the subtitles don’t match the episode number.) Anyway, it looks like they gave the SIL a redemption arc. If fact everyone appears to get a very happy fairytale ending. 🙄

Secondary couples? Who? Thanks in advance.
There are no traditional secondary couples. Secretary Ko (the ML’s assistant) and Bang Sun Hui (team head for New Product Development) do over the top flirting with each other for comedy purposes. This drama doesn’t actually focus much on romantic relationships.

I love the ML and I think he’s very handsome. What killed this drama for me was the direction of the story,…
Based on your watch list statistics, you tend to rate dramas much higher than than most MDL users. For example, you rated Dynamite Kiss a 9.0 and Brewing Love a 10.0. No wonder a 7.3 for this drama seems low to you.

By looking at the majority of negative comments here and the number of people who say that they’ve dropped PY, a 7.3 for this drama seems to be about right by MDL standards.

It is not different that other on this site well celebrated K-dramas, eg. Strong Girl Bong Soon, which appears…
I think SGBS was intended to be a silly supernatural rom com and it fulfilled most viewers expectations. I think PY isn’t doing so well on MDL because it’s not delivering what it promised.

PY is supposed to be showing how two strangers relationship develops after their one night stand resulted in pregnancy. The storytelling in PY is being bogged down by a poorly written script. The main couple’s growing relationship has been pushed into the background while a useless love triangle and a villain SIL trying to seize the family business has taken over most of the plot.

The unexpected pregnancy storyline is something that should make this drama unique but it’s being hidden under a ton of tropes that can be found in most ordinary kdramas. PY is not a horribly bad drama. It’s just average or slightly below average and the MDL rating reflects that.

When is the FL going to stop calling him President even when they’re not at work? In episode 10 when he’s parked outside of her apartment building she still called him President. She’s having his baby so shouldn’t she be calling him by his first name by now?

U are five or something? Why wouldn't she work? She is not weightlifting or something. Nor is she married for…
Neither the ML or FL should give up a job that they really want. It makes absolutely no sense to let the villain have her way— she’s not an all powerful god. It’s more logical to stay and try to win against a villain. Yes this is a fictional drama but it has to make some logical sense. It has to be based at least partially in reality.

Don’t worry, the ML and FL will win in the end and the villain SIL will lose. In kdrama rom coms the villain never wins.

She really loves her job so why should she give it up? It’s an office job where she doesn’t have to use physical strength. Medically there’s no reason for her to quit her job at this point in the pregnancy. He also enjoys his job so why should he be forced to give up his job?

All over the world two income households are becoming the norm. Maybe it’s different where you live but nowadays both people in a relationship can have careers if that’s what they both want and agree to do.

She really needs therapy 😩😮😲 like we understand her pain but her brother in-law did not push her husband…
Yes, but that’s no excuse for her behavior. She should have gotten therapy many years ago.

edited to add: I just learned that the traditional view of mental health issues/disorders in S Korea is that they are meant to be tolerated by the individual, not treated.😲 Many people are reluctant to seek psychiatric treatment due to concerns about being discriminated against for seeking professional care for mental health issues. Thankfully that viewpoint is slowly changing. People under 30 are more likely nowadays to seek psychiatric treatment help.

I noticed that synopsis calls this a “shotgun romance” not a story about a shotgun marriage. The way that…
They used the title of the manhwa but not the actual manhwa plot. They should have called this drama by some other title because it’s far from an adaptation. They made so many unnecessary changes.

If they called this drama “Wasted Potential” people wouldn’t be so disappointed with the storyline.

This drama continues to be frustrating because you can see the wasted potential. With a just a little more intelligent writing and directing this could have been so good.

In episode 9, it was a bad idea to have the pregnant FL pull in front of the limo that was trying to outrun the press. I understand she wanted to help the ML hide from the press, but if his speeding car didn’t stop in time she would have been hit and her airbag would have inflated. Little Yeol Mu (unborn baby) probably wouldn’t have survived.

At the end of episode 9 when ML held a press conference why didn’t he state the fact that when he first met the FL he wasn’t her boss? That would have made it more clear that their relationship wasn’t a boss sexual harassing a female employee.

There are more examples of logical reasoning being left out in every episode that make this drama miss the mark. It’s close, but not quite there and that’s what makes it so frustrating.

Dynamite Kiss is the trashiest trash, promoting sexual harassment at work and otherwise, control, violence, lying,…
MDL is a site that allows statistics to be gathered for data based decision making concerning dramas. Many people use this website’s statistics to compare the relative quality of dramas. By bringing up a Hitler comparison I see that you don’t want to discuss things logically, rationally or constructively. You appear to only want to argue with anyone who has a different opinion than you.

Just because a character in a drama behaves a certain way doesn’t mean that the drama is promoting that behavior. For instance in DK the FL lied about being married in order to get the job. The drama demonstrated that she suffered the consequences of her lying because she developed health problems and her relationships with the people in her life suffered. Contrary to what you stated about DK promoting lying, the drama showed that there are consequences to negative behaviors.

Based on the drama ratings several thousand MDL users disagree with your opinion. 😐

btw DK didn’t “promote” or encourage any of the exaggerated behaviors that you listed.

In my opinion they’re both about the same. They’re both average or slightly below average rom coms. Both dramas…
We have different opinions about the quality of this drama and that’s okay. You’re not going to change my opinion and I’m not going to change yours.

The current MDL rating for Dynamite Kiss is 7.8 and PY is currently rated at 7.6. With the number of negative comments I’ve seen about this drama and the number of people dropping it I don’t think that the rating will change very much. (Individual users ratings can easily go up or down a lot but it takes a huge shift in many, many users opinions to affect the overall rating for a drama.)

This drama will have to improve just to match the rating for DK. Actually I don’t think a 7.8 is much different than a 7.6. Both ratings indicate the dramas are average quality.

I don’t think the writer of PY will all of a sudden remember how to write a good story. Two thirds of the episodes have aired so far and there’s only about 5 to 10 minutes of enjoyable scenes in each hour long episode.

So much time has already been wasted on unlikable side characters and side plots that there hasn’t been enough time to properly develop the relationship of the lead characters.

Also, based on the preview for episode 9 it looks like more time will be wasted on things other than character development and the progress of the main couple’s relationship.

Why is the rating so low? Is it worse than dynamite kiss?
In my opinion they’re both about the same. They’re both average or slightly below average rom coms. Both dramas start off with a good premise in the first couple of episodes but the story quality goes downhill fast. They had so much potential to begin with but the screenwriters ran out of ideas too quickly. The screenwriters depend too heavily on worn out tropes and don’t bring anything new to the dramas.

Both dramas have annoying 2MLs. They’ve known the FLs for a long time but decide that they have romantic feelings for her only after she’s already fallen in love with someone else. In both dramas so much time is wasted on the 2MLs so there’s not enough time spent on the romance of the lead characters.

Typical K drama stunted growth where people in their 30’s act like teens. I kind of like it better than western…
As in this drama? Their first “date” in this drama was a drunken sexual encounter.

Them acting like shy teens despite being in their mid to late 30s isn’t quite working here. The writer of this drama should have watched My Secret Romance (2017) to see how to successfully build the relationship between the leads after an awkward start of drunken sex during their first meeting.

This writer needs to learn how to write characters that the audience can care about. It’s difficult to feel empathetic towards anyone in this drama.
