No one would still be watching this if they didn’t have an adorable toddler in the cast. Too bad they’re just using him like a prop and only bring him out to keep viewers watching. I thought this was supposed to be a healing family drama but it’s definitely not.

The brother died 15 years ago and the Father has been running the family beer company. Kang Du Jun was only made President recently because of his Father’s poor health. Kang Du Jun didn’t actually inherit anything directly from his brother. The crazy grief stricken/obsessed SIL just needed someone to blame for her tragic loss so she blamed Du Jun. Her vengeance against Du Jun was not based on facts or logic.

Maybe that’s why I dropped True Beauty after a few episodes. The love triangle was the central theme of the drama and I dislike that trope so much.

In your opinion what type of story would NEED a love triangle?

Out of curiosity, what do you usually enjoy about love triangles? Writers keep putting them in dramas so some people must like them. I’m just trying to figure out why love triangles are enjoyable to some people because I personally can’t stand them.

I have a horrible thought that the romance tag for this drama is meant to describe the relationship between the FL and 2ML. Maybe we were just fooled into thinking the romance would be between the FL and ML. Anyway, I’m so tired of 2MLs getting in the way in recent kdrama rom coms.

This must be the year of useless love triangles ruining kdrama rom coms. Dynamite Kiss, Positively Yours, and now Our Universe all have love triangles messing up the relationship development between the leads.

It was a normal happy ending. The show started with a pregnancy and ended with one. Everyone in the drama got their happy ending. I doubt that many people would want to watch a season 2 where the basic premise is just the main couple having their second child.

I totally agree with you. I didn’t read the manhwa but the drama would have been so much better if the warmth and joy of episode 12 was spread more evenly throughout the show.

The pacing of this drama was very uneven. Episodes 1 - 11 covered about a 4 month time period but then episode 12 covered over a years time. The sudden redemption of the SIL felt forced. (Who knew that all you needed to do to redeem a villain character is change her lipstick from bright red to a peachy orange color?) And magically all of the secondary characters paired up and found happiness too.

The PR team for this drama should also take some responsibility for misleading viewers. They made it seem like the drama would be something different than it actually was. And what about the PR pictures of the FL in designer wedding gowns? She never wore any of them in the drama. 🫤

I’ve noticed a recent trend in MDL ratings becoming a bit lower and imo more realistic so that they’re more relatable to everyday real life rating systems. Unfortunately that makes it difficult to compare recent drama ratings on MDL to much older drama ratings here because the older numbers tend to look inflated.

But I’m very thankful that MDL ratings aren’t like those on Asianwiki or Viki where almost everything gets rated above a 90/100 or 9/10. When everything is rated so high it’s hard to tell which dramas are excellent versus those dramas that are just meh.

I agree that the director can’t be blamed for the script but he can be held accountable for how the script is interpreted by the actors. He’s the one who chose to make the SIL actress exaggerate her crazy viscous behavior. The juvenile behavior of the leads can also be attributed to how the director chose them to portray their characters. The director is also the one responsible for using a skin whitening wrinkle erasing filter on only the ML and FL throughout the drama. The filter was distracting because it made the leads seem plastic. The director is also accountable for the camera angles that make the lead actors seem more awkward and uncomfortable than they should during their private alone time together.

A rating of 7.3 is like a 73% on a test. It’s a passing grade. The rating reflects that the drama is average, nothing exceptional.

Yes. The last episode includes a time skip to the baby’s first birthday party. The baby is adorable.

They wrapped things up in episode 12 with a time skip. The drama should have focused on slowly building up the relationship of the leads but the writer was too focused on including a love triangle and an arch villian. This could have been a thought provoking drama instead of an ordinary office rom com.

I’m still disappointed that they took an interesting and somewhat unique premise and turned it into a common office drama about a rich CEO + poor working female. There have been thousands of office dramas and this one is nothing special. It’s just average because of the lazy writing and poor directing but it could have been so much more. The missed potential of this drama saddens me.

Yeah, I didn’t want her to get redemption either. It seems out of place that she’s an overly exaggerated villain for 11 episodes and then all of the sudden in the last episode she has a change of heart. That’s just lazy screenwriting in order to force a happy ending for everyone. 🫤

oops, in the final episode the secretary and team leader get together. It also looks like the 2ML and the FL’s best friend might get together too. Apparently everyone magically pairs up in the final episode.

Watch ep12 on Viki now. They already released it but listed it as ep11. (Small problem: the subtitles don’t match the episode number.) Anyway, it looks like they gave the SIL a redemption arc. If fact everyone appears to get a very happy fairytale ending. 🙄
