The scene is where Changyu goes back to Lin’an and is greeted by all of the people from the town who have passed away. Why was it just her going home alone and not returning with with Xie Zheng? He was already there for some reason—why?
was it just me or was a few seconds cut out from that famous bath scene? in all the previews it shows him emerging…
They had to cut most of the bath and bed scene in order to pass censorship for the official release of this drama. Some bts and reuters videos found online are longer than the official version. ☹️
I haven't watched the leaks, only the latest episodes — but overall, this was a decent adaption from the novel.…
Did you watch episodes 31 & 32 today? The Marquis cut off the ear of the eunuch because he didn’t like the message he was reading. That seems pretty ruthless to me.
The past few episodes have been dealing with the political intrigue portion of the drama. The Marquis is so cold and driven now. He knows that the only way he can happily get back together with Changyu is to solve the political mystery of what happened 17 years ago with her wrongly accused father.
I’m so excited that it looks like we will be getting into the warrior Changyu phase of this drama soon. So far I’ve enjoyed everything about this series and it keeps getting even better every episode. This is an amazing drama that has surpassed all of my expectations.
True I see many people on Twitter trying to act woke and saying they’re skipping their scenes. As viewers, people…
I’m sorry I still don’t understand your point about the absolute need to respect a performance in a drama. The actors and crew have already been paid very well for their work. They make much more money than the average person. Actors don’t deserve any more respect than other groups of people. Everyone should be respected equally.
Why should respecting part of a fictional work be prioritized over respecting a victim’s viewpoint who has endured abuse in their life?
ETA: I’m sure some little controversy on sm won’t hurt Deng Kai’s career. He will be offered many important roles after his powerful performance in this drama. He’s doing a fantastic job of portraying QiMin. It’s his excellent performance as an abuser that is triggering to many people because it’s so realistic.

Boycotting is a peaceful organized way of refusing to deal with someone or something. While I believe it’s often a pointless or ineffective way of trying to deal with something I don’t see it as being disrespectful.
Although I support the right for people to boycott something there are so many more serious problems going on in the world today. Boycotting an actor’s performance seems like an unimportant issue.

Maybe people are skipping those scenes for their own emotional and mental wellbeing. It’s possible that the abusive behavior of QiMin is triggering for them. Setting boundaries for what you allow in your life is something positive that everyone should do.
Also just because an actor is good or even excellent in a certain role doesn’t mean that everyone must watch it. People are entitled to choose what they watch for whatever reason. Everyone has preferences and they don’t have to agree with the majority viewpoint.
Just when the drama gets to the point where the Marquis and Changyu will be spending more time together the release schedule changes to 1 ep a day. That’s so unfair! ☹️
What about Gongsun. Lord Li, Changyu’s protection squad, Mr Zhao, and Tao the grand tutor? They’re all good…
Nope. Actor Li Jian Yi plays the character. He’s Tao, the old guy that Changyu met in episode 21. (The guys in her protection squad carried him on their back.) He once was a tutor to the Marquis but Changyu doesn’t know it.
The men in this show are deranged. The ones that aren't are either killed or secretly insane. If you see a male…
What about Gongsun. Lord Li, Changyu’s protection squad, Mr Zhao, and Tao the grand tutor? They’re all good guys and aren’t insane. There’s only a few male characters in this drama who are truly demented and perverted.
I don’t get the FL. It’s clear that she misses him and wants him by her side. So why send a divorce letter…
It’s the standard noble idiocy trope found in cdramas and kdramas. One partner pushes their loved one away thinking it will be best for them. And they always push them away without any explanation.
It drives me crazy because they think that they’re doing something good for their partner. But what they’re actually doing is making the decision for someone else about what will be best for their life.
In this drama both the Marquis and Changyu are making decisions about their relationship without discussing it. He lies to her about his true identity thinking it will keep her safe and will be better for her in the long run. On the other side she decides that giving him divorce papers will be the best thing for him. They both love each other deeply. They just need to talk over where they want their relationship to go.
