Art of Seduction, eh? I decided to skip that one. The plot synopsis sounded like two arrogant people at each other's throats, which in my experience makes for characters that are not very likable. Plus the reviews were negative I think.

Well, I did some research too. The Hong Sisters are responsible for The Greatest Love, which I despised and dropped after nine episodes. They did Delightful Girl Choon Hyang, which was cheesy to the point where I was laughing at things that weren't intended to be humorous (I did manage to finish that one, at least). They did You're Beautiful, tried to watch it twice--since it's so dang popular-- but couldn't even get through the second episode.

The exception here is Gumiho.

Based on the above, the odds are stacked against Big. But like I said, I'm going to try and watch it with an open mind. The premise is interesting at least!

Oh, and someone recently told me that Big was a Hong Sisters drama.....>.>...<.<... I am generally not a fan of the Hong Sisters. Aside from Gumiho, I've either hated or ridiculed their projects. haha! But I'm going to try and be unbiased and give Big a shot anyway.... But that revelation troubled me...

Wow! I'm glad to see you enjoyed Antique Bakery so much. When I watched it, it totally caught me off guard. So I didn't know what to think of it. Maybe I'll give it another go and finish it someday... maybe not, I don't know but it's interesting to read your feedback! lol!

Well, you let me know when Steve comes out to play and I'll be extra careful about my grammar and spelling errors. :)

"...dropped it after 30 minutes like a hot potato." Hahaha!!! Tell me how you REALLY feel! :) I'm going to give it a chance at some point, but I'm feeling slightly cautious about it now. Projects from the Hong Sisters are just generally not my style. Too many cliches and usually cheesy.

Reviewing coffee! I like the sound of it. And yah, I'm feeling happy these days that I've managed to have good conversations with pretty laid back folks here. I haven't run into many manic fangirls/fanboys yet. But it's still early, I suppose. :)

But seeing the dramas popularity, I tried to be as diplomatic as I could. I enjoyed watching most of it. But by the end I was tired of all the inconsistencies AND crying. I am not moved by a ton of crying in dramas. I might feel kinda sad the first time. But if everyone is crying buckets at the drop of a hat, the effect is gone. (Cinderella's Sister is the number one offender of this).

Anyway, I digress. :) Thanks for the positive feedback! Have you been watching Big? Our friend Bladey just informed me that it's a Hong Sisters drama... I feel nervous about watching it now. I'm usually not a fan of their stuff (except for Gumiho).

Haha! Thanks lady! You're maybe the third person to directly tell me that they agree with that review, and it makes me feel so relieved! Remember I told you I wasn't going on a witch hunt? >.> Well in the case of that drama, I totally did.

I felt like I'd watched a different drama from everyone else based on all those "Outstanding" ratings! It's bananas to me how these viewers are so willing to overlook a NUMBER of flaws just because the face sucking is good. And I didn't even bother mentioning ALL of the things that bothered me in that drama--how did he find clothes that fit him perfectly every time he time traveled to the modern world? Why didn't his hair grow during the last year they were apart? Why wasn't anyone's memory affected when the talisman went black??--I can go on and on.

And yes, I'm kind of stalking your currently watching list. :) Antique Bakery! HA! I tried watching that a few years ago and dropped it about halfway through because I had to go do something, but never went back to watch it. It was a little too out there for me. But maybe it got better? Do you like it? I just remember that it has that actor in it that I nicknamed Skeletor. hahahaha!!!

Happy 4th of July to you, too!! And er... I hope they weren't gun shots. ^^; LOL!!

Dude, DO NOT WORRY about typos and crap like that. I don't. :) This is funny because it reminds me of a good friend I have. When we first became friends, we'd be so busy and excited rambling back and forth that one day, we both just declared that we'll overlook the other's grammar/spelling errors. From our conversations, I have already established that you are an intelligent person, so no worries about the occasional hiccup.

And RF is retro in a good way. I kind of like how old school it feels! Plus, Ji Sung is confirming his spot on my favorites list! I swear, if I saw him walking down the street, I wouldn't look twice (plus he seems short and that's not really my thing lol!). But something in the way he carries himself is so sexy! Plus is voice is yummy. Om nom nom. (*^_^*)

Oh! And getting back to reviews for just a hot second (because I know you're probably tired of talking about them like I kinda am, haha), I just read YOURS on Nodame Cantabile. I just wanted to tell you that YES, hands down the music in the drama is what really sells it. Although I don't play any classical instruments, I respect and admire those who do very much. So that drama really satisfied the classical music-loving wannabe nerd within me. And secondly, Nodame! You're so right in that she is the cutest thing ever. Such a lovable character. And while I don't find Chiaki particularly attractive, I understand WHY Nodame and others do. Anyway, gush gush gush. It's a great drama. :)

I like Kim Sun Ah so much that I keep considering watching City Hall. But it won't be any time soon.

And Ooohhh. I didn't know Big was a Hong Sisters Drama.... That makes me feel uneasy about it now! I'm the same as you in that the only Hong Sisters drama I enjoyed was Gumiho. Everything else I've seen from them has been too cheesy or made me angry.

As usual, I must agree with you. A person's state of mind/expectations going into a drama will greatly impact their overall impression. If you go into something with a critical eye, then you're probably going to be disappointed. But with Gumiho, I think it serves its purpose as a fun and whimsical drama. Is it revolutionary? No. But it's fun to watch and the characters are lovable. That's enough for me. But I did respect her review and opinion because she expressed herself quite well. :)

Anyway, I randomly decided to check out Royal Family because I felt I needed some Ji Sung in my life. PLUS, all of the actors in my favorites list are people I've seen in more than one drama... Except for him. So I wanted to see him in something else. So far it's... So retro or something! It's very... drama-y. Like All My Children or something. The music is very dramatic and operatic. haha!

Aww, I really want to watch this!! :( It's not even posted anywhere. Sadness.
Ah, I see. Thanks! :)

Oh thank you!! TGL was SO BAD! I really don't understand why it's so popular. And I agree completely, "Dokko Jin" was SO cheesy and annoying. He was a total arrogant goofball in that role, plus is face was always greasy and his hair looked like a helmet. It never moved! I didn't find him attractive as a lead male at all, and I actually liked the nice, nerdy doctor guy better. I couldn't even finish that drama.

I looked at the synopsis for Thank You and it sounds like a sad story. Is a tear jerker?

And I keep hearing people talk about Rooftop Prince. But from what's being said, I don't care to watch it. Doesn't sound like a "must see." I'm waiting on Big and Bridal Mask to finish, then I'm going to check out those.

Oh! And I wanted to say that I really enjoyed the side-story of the princess and the guard, too! They could have a spin-off drama all by themselves and I would totally watch it! They had such great chemistry. You know a drama is well written when even the side-story is interesting and exciting. But not so much that it distracts from the main story. :)

You know, I've seen Gong Hyo Jin in two dramas and I disliked both of them--mostly because of her. I watched half of The Greatest Love and dropped it because I couldn't stand it. But I'll take your advice. Maybe I'll try "Thank You." I'll check it out!

And I agree, the fangirl epidemic here is a little out of control. I mean, I can appreciate a pretty face, but I need more than that. Writers can't just throw a handsome man into a drama and have him kiss real well and I'm satisfied. If that were the case, I'd just watch porn! haha! But I need a good plot line and well developed characters. QIHM did not deliver.

And thanks for the positive feedback on that review! Yah, I know it's going to get voted down severely. But after seeing the sea of "Outstanding" ratings, I felt the need to post a more realistic and balanced review. I could have said worse, but I tried to be diplomatic. :)

Crap! I forgot to check the spoiler....>.>... Maybe it's fine since I don't say what drama'movie it is. lol!

And you're right! There are SO MANY flaws in the drama! If I'd detailed out all of them, the review would have been WAY too long. Don't even get me started on how he was able to find clothes that fit him perfectly every time he time traveled, or how his hair didn't grow in the year span of his being in the Joseon era at the end, or how the best friend over-acted her part... I could tear that drama a new one if I wanted to. But for the sake of diplomacy, I tried to be fair and balanced.

It's funny how a well-written review can make you think twice about your original opinion of a drama. I recently read a very cut-throat review of Gumiho. I honestly have to agree with almost everything she says... But I still like it!! :p Check it out. It's by amrita828, 4 reviews down from yours.

Her reason for wanting to commit suicide is what killed it (no pun intended) for me, too! And I was glad he smacked her dumb ass on the head with the roses after she told him! It was a total let down. And like you, I didn't thoroughly read the synopsis either, so I had no idea why she wanted to kill herself. But I agree with you in that the acting was good. And I actually liked the male lead a lot. I could watch a drama based on that character. I like that he's awkward/gentle/a BAMF. :)

Movie update! I watched Only You. Have you seen it? It's not bad. Predictable but touching and sexy.

And thank youuuu~~ for the positive feedback on the QIHM review!! I know a lot of fangirls are going to vote it down, but I felt compelled to post a more balanced review. I couldn't believe all the "10's" it's gotten! WTF!? Did I watch the same drama as everyone else? Have some dignity ladies! Sheesh!

I actually looked at Seducing Mr. Perfect earlier today and considered adding it to my list! But I didn't because I didn't like the poster for it!... I'm getting too petty I think. I didn't like that there were three women and one man in the poster.

I also didn't notice that it was starring Daniel Henny. I'm glad you told me. I've got beef with that guy. Firstly, I seriously question his acting abilities. He wasn't bad in the Wolverine movie, but he was NOT GOOD in Kim Sam Soon. And I also don't appreciate how statuesque he is. I mean goodness! Do you have to look that beautiful and perfect?? Maybe he has a really ugly wart on his butt or something. I hope so. He makes me feel inadequate. People look like trolls standing next to him. When he and Hyun Bin are in scenes together in Sam Soon, Hyun Bin suddenly looks like a garden gnome.

Anyway, yes, thank you. Suspicions confirmed.
