Hehehe I've never been so giddy about waiting for all episodes to be out. It's the same feeling as when you make your bed knowing you're about to roll around clean, warm bedsheets.
Last time I saw a series with Yim and Tutor they were an awkward side couple in Cutie Pie. Imagine my absolute face when I watched this. Their acting improved a ton! I'm usually the only one shitting on a series as everyone else praises it to the moon and back. Here I'm actually positively surprised? I'm so glad I underestimated it and waited until all eps were out!
Yes, there are some awkward bits, such as the approximate dubbing of the Chinese-speaking writer, the AI generated backgrounds, etc. Yes, it's cornier than a cornfield. And, yes the wholesome first meeting during childhood is becoming cliché. But, overall, this was more than decent imo.
They did a few clever/new things and utilised the theme of reading BL web novels and writing in general well, better than other "meta" BL series anyway. The budget and acting were more than okay most of the time. The kid actors were good as well (except that little girl who asks for her cat to be saved). I even cried once! And the main couple miraculously acted like real lovers once they got together.
The music choices were good, too, and I don't say that often. NC scenes were hot (in the uncut version at least) but still tasteful and sensual, unlike some of the stuff I've seen this year. I never thought I'd say this but Boss and Noeul may have found their rivals in that department. But to be fair, Tutor is so damn pleasant to look at they could have just stared at each other the whole time and I would still have come out of it satisfied.
Seriously, I was not expecting such a high amount of effort. I'm still tripping over the fact that they went as far as fake-dubbing the Wuxia parts. It really felt like watching a Chinese drama with their weirdly always calm, ASMR voices added post-prod hahaha.
I’m like you I was also expecting the hate part of the hate-love to last longer and the overall vibe to be darker…
I sooort of get it because I think they didn’t have many opportunities to date yet and they barely made up but yeah I miss the flirty vibe of the beginning when Joker would taunt Jack. ;v;
I just know that Joke will have to disappear before Jack realises his dream and it’s already breaking my heart. Also fuck Boss for poisoning grandma and trapping Jack into working for him again, now I’m sure he killed his parents. Maybe he was so disappointed in Araun he tried to get Jack for himself or something since he said he considers him as his own son. Anyway he can die in a fire, Hope and Save too idc what their name say they need to burn!
What I expected: hatred to passion, action-packed, unhinged and unserious.What I get: chill, at times slice of…
I’m like you I was also expecting the hate part of the hate-love to last longer and the overall vibe to be darker (same as for Kidnap actually) but as long as I get good YinWar I’m satisfied.
and War's facial expressions during the confession scene...I'm still there...I can't move on from this 🫠
The way War had a tiny, incredulous smile when Jack said “I like you” but it fell when he said it’s a hint… brb rewatching 😭😭😭 I was a bit worried he would reuse the shy, shifty eyes he did a lot (and that worked so well) for Mark but he didn’t! I don’t know why I doubted tbh he’s the best Thai BL actor at this point every time he’s on the screen my eyes zero on him to witness all the eye-acting and the micro expressions 😩
The fact that they shared a textbook is so FUCKING ADORABLE and War is such a good actor ugh that scene made me want to SC REA M. I will DIE when they get flirty for real, DIE I TELL YOU
rewatching ep 4 out of a haze; think the show would benefit from: - shorter episodes though idk if this is cos…
I have the same problem, the production and acting of the main characters are good enough that I keep expecting something more serious than a goofy BL with slightly darker themes. But I also agree that they could have worked more on the timing and dosage of the goofiness. It's totally possible to blend thriller and comedy (it's even my favourite genre) but it's not that easy. Still the best Thai BL to come out this year so far, in my case.
Calling it now: the boss made Jack’s father’s restaurant fail so he couldn’t pay his debt back then killed him and Jack’s mom/harassed them into suicide. I wonder what the source reason is though…
I want to believe. It got better compared to the first episode, maybe the trend will continue. (This statement doesn’t take the horrid product placements in account.)
