To be honest, I think most countries entertainment news looks like that (and no I do not think it is right). The…
I agree. It shouldnt. Unfortunately I think they backed off mainly because nowadays celebrities share stuff on their social media platforms and in the west we're ok with them being in relationships, marrying, having kids and even cursing or showing skin. K-celebs can't do any of that even if they are on social media so the tabloids still have a lot to pick up from. So princess Diana was a turning point but it was probably social media that made paparazzi less relevant here 😔

You must not know about princess Diana and how she died due in a car crash trying to escape the paparazzi. It's the same everywhere. Media shapes our perceptions of celebrities and they try to keep their lives private it just never works
Agree with everything, but also wanted to add that the message of the show also ignores that there are a lot of…
Exactly. These systemic factors contribute to an epidemic of mental health issues that many times lead to suicide. It doesn't mean these individuals are not sick. They are. That's the whole problem, the society is all wrong, everywhere, pushing people beyond their level of endurance. That's why people burn out and crash and need to go on sick leave to heal their mind. Not to mention high levels of anxiety lead to a lot of physical problems, some self-inflicted :( I think there should be a discussion to be had about how it's society that needs to change, not the individual.
I agree that it's important to remind people that they are precious and unique and they are worth and worthy whatever their success level. But there is a lot to be said for a country that tries to do suicide prevention by forcing this down our throats while not changing their unrealistic standards that are the whole problem. :(
That said, I hope you can find yourself in a place where you aren't feeling like this. You are not to blame, remember that. It's the world that is crushing you down and making you sick, but I sincerely hope for all the best for you and your recovery.
Hmmm, i see where you're coming from with this but "Daily Dose of Sunshine" felt like a more realistic show therefore…
Of course I agree, this show is a fantasy and it's not its job to give us mental health awareness. This is why I rated it high even with all the issues I had with it. I just wish we were at a place where people would watch this and not nod along and agree with the very wrong portrayal of the mindset of suicidal people
I think you are criticising the drama's message by looking at suicide from one angle. Not all people who chose…
No offense but there is no suicide that doesnt stem from deep seated mental health issues. Healthy minds cannot think of suicide because we are biologically programmed to survive. The fact that SK has a high rate of suicide cases doesn't mean all of those people were not/are not sick. So no, there are no angles. Suicide is always the product of a mental health disease. It happens because people are so devoid of hope and so depressed that they don't see any other way out. People don't wake up one day and think "Oh I don't feel like facing my problems let me just die". That sounds ridiculous, don't you think?
Don't get me completely wrong, I enjoyed this as a fiction piece. But I think the way they portray suicide is complete bullshit and it's undoing the good job that shows like "Daily Dose of Sunshine" did regarding mental health awareness.
Suicide isn't as simple as making a conscious and rational choice it's the very real end to a very real disease, which is depression. I felt like the show takes this lightly (beautiful image about self-worth and how you matter and are unique and life is supposed to be treasured aside), putting the main character on trial for ending his life. Humans have quite a strong survival instinct built into us; bypassing that isn't easy nor do you do bypass it when your mind is sound and healthy.
Yeah that part pissed me off. You don't blame sick people for being sick or for dying because they are sick. Portraying the character as selfish and uncaring is awful.
That said, the show in itself was entertaining so I tried to not think about the fact he was being punished because he was sick.
Thing is, in 1969 they didnt know about space radiation. Anyone can go to the moon with our current technology. However it's pretty dangerous, and that is why we dont do it anymore. We are stuck until we figure out how to avoid radiation.
So it wouldnt be a great feat, technologically to go to the moon, unless those going said they had a solution to space radiation.
It was and it wasn't. I know it's a movie so ofc they want to go to the moon, but realistically going to the moon is expensive and pretty dangerous for no gain. We've done it and the cost/benefit is squarely against going again, we have probes, telescopes and the ISS to study the moon. We're currently pretty much earthbound anyway unless you can get past a bunch of stuff (a few lethal), like creating artificial gravity so we don't lose bone density or getting past space radiation which we can't (thus no going to the moon. Radiation is bad for your health). That was what I meant
Yes, it is a red flag in today's modern mindset, but it wasn't always the mindset in the east. Like, yes, call…
I've always assumed harmful cultural traditions should be abolished. In my country we have a very long tradition of sticking pointy spears in bulls and after much torture kill them for people's enjoyment but we've now abolished this cultural practice because it's harmful and cruel
No shade but I don't want to understand a mindset where it's ok for anyone to hit other people family and coaches or not. And it's not a "eastern thing" it hasn't been that long ago that parents beating their children was considered a normal part of teaching your kids in the west but we've grown past that as a society because we've understood it is something that is harmful and traumatic and it doesnt really help anything or anyone
Is it only a red flag to me that both the parent and the coach beat the main character with a stick not to mention force her to gain weight for their own dreams and aspirations? What the heck is this? If the main characters weren't so endearing I would have dropped it for that reason alone.

So for now it's just the ISS I think....
