Yes and yes. I do wish they gave SFL more outfits to wear though. She kept rewearing her outfits in the drama.…
They used the whole wardrobe budget on Cen Jin hahahaha

I didn’t know that! Thanks for the explanation.

I agree. I think the dual timelines made everything more impactful.

I don’t think there were many filler episodes at all :-o Maybe like one or two at the end, but that’s it. Something beautiful happens between Li Wu and Cen Jin almost every episode. You’re literally going through life with them. It’s lovely.

That particular scene stuck with me. It was really impressive. The look of overwhelming love and awe on his face just…made my heart swell. He had a crush on her before, but he fell in love in that moment. Daniel Zhou’s facial expressions are something special. I’ve been watching dramas for a really long time, and I’ve rarely seen it. Especially not on relatively newbie actors.

The actor portraying Male Lead is so stunningly beautiful! Something about his face, those soulful eyes. I have…
"Stunningly beautiful" is the perfect description for Yang Peng Cheng! His eyes are deep pools you could drown in. I was completely captivated, and impressed that the FL could resist him for so long. She's stronger than me for sure LOL.

I couldn't agree more! This was my first time seeing YPC in a vertical drama and I thought he was absolutely gorgeous…
Wonderfully said! This was one of the best vertical dramas I've ever seen.

Ohh, I see. I understand. I enjoy realism though :) I think it makes sense for this drama since it's not a teen drama.

Drama ratings/scores don't depend on how exceptional a relationship is. They depend on how well the drama is filmed and audience enjoyment. Some people want to watch perfect fairytale relationships and some want to watch realistic relationships.

I agree, but with an age gap this big a situation where the older person tries to guide the younger one, and oversteps boundaries in the process is likely to happen. Especially if the young person in the relationship is still in school. Don't forget that Cen Jin and Li Wu started off with a guardian/youth relationship, which can mirror a parent/child relationship. It would be unrealistic if a conflict like this didn't pop up.

It's not really about us having different worldviews because I do agree Cen Jin shouldn't have tried to make decisions for Li Wu or lie about joining him in the states. My point is Li Wu lied too and neither communicate perfectly, but you're only stuck on Cen Jin's imperfections.

Sorry, but this kind of sounds like the arguments teens have with their parents. In the real world, good intentions often interfere with people's autonomy. Not just with teens and parents, but couples too. The two things are not separate at all. That's why families argue. The drama is realistic for portraying that.

If Cen Jin can't worry about Li Wu resenting her if he keeps giving up great opportunities, then Li Wu can't worry she'll forget about him/give up on their relationship just because he accepts one and moves lol. Friendships and relationships survive long distance. So, if this is in Cen Jin's imagination, it's in Li Wu's imagination too. Make sure you apply the same logic to both people instead of just one.

for sure it's one of better one but fall in usual trope of work first love later, miscommunication was downside…
Well, for a big chunk of the drama Li Wu is in school and trying to secure a career in the field he's interested in. The drama isn't just about love...it's about life and growth. So, of course things like school and work are going to be a big part of the drama.

The miscommunication isn't that much, but it's realistic due to the age gap, and Li Wu's quiet personality. This drama resonated with me more than Hidden Love. We all have our own opinions.

The point is exactly the same: they're both doing what THEY think is best for the other.

Nobody likes what Cen Jin did, but you're kind of acting like she did it because she likes to cause him pain or something. Her lie and his lie both came from good intentions. Even if you think her lie was worse it's a double standard to only talk about hers and not bring up Li Wu's at all.

Throughout the drama, they both had to learn the same lesson: instead of hiding things from the person you love/lying, it's better to communicate.

Is it bad that i wanted xi yang and the king to be together and be the queen of jingxu and have their their child…
It’s not bad that you want that, but at the same time I’m glad the drama didn’t reward Xi yang for her horrible decisions. I think this is one of the few dramas that shows blindly following love usually doesn’t lead anywhere good (at least for a main character. Maybe some side characters have learned this lesson).

Having Cen Jin's type of mother would be my absolute worst nightmare. She is too pushy!! She's like a constant…
Her mom means well, but I wouldn't be able to deal with her either. We'd have a strained relationship lol.

Just finished episode 30, and I came right on here and rated this beautiful story a 10/10. I've watched A LOT of older woman/younger man romances, and Sniper Butterfly is one of the best. I'm going to write a full review later, but right now I'm overwhelmed by how tender, emotionally intelligent, and moving this drama ended up being.

The acting was touching, but never melodramatic. The leads had fantastic chemistry (I mean, those kisses were crazyyyy good). And the screenplay was thoughtful. If you like "jiejie romances" you MUST watch Sniper Butterfly. Don't let the rating or naysayers rob you of this contemplative, quietly moving story of growth, devotion, and love.

so she selfishly manipulated him into leaving him ..then ignore him for years, and after returning, then just…
I mean...let's not forget that Li Wu actually did the same thing to her when it came to choosing his college. She was helping him look at one college when he knew he was going to a different one. He blindsided her and lied by omission. She was, understandably, angry with him because he decided everything on his own and tricked her. But then she turned around and did the same thing when it came to him studying abroad, so they're even lol.

The point is they're not perfect, and they've both done things to hurt each other. However, their intentions are always good (he lied about the college he was going to because he wanted to stay close to her and she lied about going to America with him because she didn't want him to miss out on an amazing opportunity) and far from selfish.
