If A-Shui is flat as a character then the rest of the female in this drama are dead weight..
I would hope there is some catch to how flat her affect is throughout the show. I think spy is correct given the conversation between the villains in ep 14. But even then if she's hiding something, I would expect some more conflicted expressions from her. We mostly just see her look sad and cry. Maybe her character is about depression. And I'm not even joking because I have no idea why she takes up screen-time with zero expression on her face when not crying.

Disagree completely.
Zhong Chunji has her own story, motives, morals etc. We see her struggle with her position as a female branch head in her sect and getting diminished by older men for her youth and social class. We got a backstory showing how much she struggled, getting sold as a child ghost bride and then being used as bait by boys in their gang to steal food and then taking all the blame. Despite all these things she has chosen to be a hero, she is always in the front lines investigating and helping civilians.
Xifang Tao we have not seen much of yet but the intrigue and poise she brings to the screen is mesmerizing. Despite being a villain/antagonist, she is always there to support women. She has defended Miss Hong from Liu Yan when she was being attacked and tries to look out for her best interest when it comes to her toxic love. She also protected Bai Su Che by stopping a man from beating on her and giving her medicine to heal; demonstrating she's a multi-layered character despite being on the side of evil.
Miss Hong falls more into stereotypes and has the most similarities with Ah Shui. One-sided devotion towards someone who has many other things on his mind. Her relationship w/ Liu Yan is toxic yet she still stays despite being advised to leave him. Instead of waffling about the way we have seen with Ah Shui, she actually goes on the front lines and fights. She is much more involved in the plot despite some of hte cliche character writing.
Quick question, I just started watching it and I feel like I have started watching something from the middle of…
this is a problem i felt with first 4-5 episodes. i think because the cast is so big and they have to limit it to 40 ep they rushed the intro. after that the pacing improves a lot and the actual story starts getting told.
I seem to be the only one here who cares about bao sheng en character based on comments 😅Love her character!…
i love her! she's a strong fighter with many different relationships, her shifu's favorite, tragic past, and very involved in important aspects of the case-solving plot. it's TLC's show but she carries the human side of the story.
Is this more of an xianxia than a wuxia. It seems he is from another world, plus few martial techniques are more…
that makes it more xuanhuan than xianxia. xianxia is gods, demons, immortals and cultivation paths. dramas usually stick to the gods part while novels go with the cultivation path.
1 episode per day from 10/30-11/5
2 episodes per day starting 11/6
Most likely it's to let the TV broadcast catch up with the online broadcast.
