I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, the plot is stupid and so devoid of emotional authenticity…
I normally agree with you 100% but I feel like we didn't watch the same episode.

Your note about Perth's acting is on point. I agree that he is at an Ohm Pawat level. He dominates every single scene he is in. That rooftop scene was excellent because of how good his acting was. Its funny because I said the same thing when I watched it, "wow, Perth is so good".

The gay wedding was a bit cringey but I think the Thais are trying to send a message to their government and I am OK with it. If they need to be a bit over the top to hammer the point, I won't complain.

I did think about Nueng's lack of emotion for his mom, but IDK. It is a hard one. This series is built on the premise that first love can sweep you off your feet and make you feel like you are high. Nueng says he didn't need to drink, because he was drunk in love. It is possible he is an eternal optimist (we have seen some hints of it already) and he genuinely thinks his mom will get better.

He never said he was happy in the Island because he was free of his mom's and dad's expectations, did he? What I got from that scene is that he feels free because no one knows who he is and because of that he gets treated like a normal person, which is an experience he never had before. He also gets to be "equal" to Palm, which he had always wanted to be.

I like their chemistry. At first, I didn't buy their chemistry but after episode 2 or 3, I thought they got better. I love the little gestures, like them holding hands while talking in bed or the slow build up to the kiss and then having Nueng reach out to Palm with his free hand.

If anything I have enjoyed Phuwin's acting more than Pond. Pond's character is stiff, I get that. But his line delivery is sometimes way too stiff IMO. Phuwin on the other hand seems natural. I especially enjoy his line deliveries in different languages and how he can switch from Mandarin to English to Thai in one breath. Thus far he is the only actor from Thailand I have seen that has such natural delivery in English (Have you ever watched New in Wolf? OMG So bad).

I think at this point we can assume that the news are out and that Nueng knows that his mom is in a comma and Palm knows his dad OK.

In any event, I think the whole point of watching BL is because we like romance and this show has delivered plenty of romantic moments. For me, its been great.

Okey after replaying the kiss from the latest episode, I started to think about the entire dialog of this scene.…
1) Yes. That is the whole point of the scene
2) That is very clear from the fact that he is not drunk, but "drunk on love" as I believe he said earlier. The Asunaro Daki (Back hug) in the previous scene suggests he is definitely aware of his feelings.
3) I think that will come to play later. We will see. I think maybe that is a way that he is giving him a "free pass" so that he can't say no? What I mean is that maybe Nuengdiao thinks that Palm will say no to being his BF because Palm fears his dad's reaction. Thus, he gives him a free pass similar to Noh's "put away the expectation's" speech in Love Sick that leads to Phun kissing Noh.
4) News. Its all over the news. :)

There seems to be a persisent misconception that it's illegal for minors to have sex. It's not. It's illegal for…
I agree. I was just being technical! I had to research this a little bit due to that scene in The Wrap effect which totally confused me because everyone is like "oh, in Thailand the age of consent is shockingly low". Well, it isn't exactly that way, which is why Fluke's character freaked out when he found out the guy was 17.

Interestingly, this never played a role in TharnType. IDK why. Maybe because Mame is a pervert :O :P

Do you mean the actors in that scene are "children" or do you mean the characters? Because I am pretty sure neither…
I just re-read my post. LIKE = Physical attraction, not emotional and physical. I know, it can be both, don't get upset at me for remaking the definition but I would differentiate between liking someone (aka crush) and loving someone (physical + emotional attraction).

Sorry if I didn't explain well. That's my point. On one hand, you can be into someone emotionally and be OK having sex with them before they shower, but on the other hand I associate that beahvior with a much more physical and much more carnal type of relationship. Clearly here this is one sided.

Actually, I do think that's the point of that scene. The Seme is being very sexual and the Uke is wanting something more emotional. I think that part where he says he wants to smell him is a hint that he is way more about the raw and physical than the other guy is. He literally went down on him BEFORE they showered. I think that tells you a lot about his mind set. I mean, yeah, you can love someone and do that. I mean, I would totally say guilty as charged hahahaha, but at that point and in that context, I think that scene is a window into the dynamics of the relationship and I don't think it was coincidental that they had sex BEFORE they showed them showering and especially that he went down on him and smelled his armpit.

Again, from my perspective I would argue that the Seme is really into the Uke. I think he likes him A LOT (that I think its the only reason you would do that), but just is way more into the physical than the emotional.

Also, keep in mind this is from the same folks who did MIR and MIR also had a similar scene of before shower sex and a sort of out of the blue "let's experiment" scene in the first episode. :O

Actually, in some countries it is illegal for minors to have sex, period. However, I know what you are saying and you are correct. In fact, so many ppl say in Thailand the age of consent is 15. This is technically correct, but it is only legal for a person 15 or older to have sex with someone 17 or younger. An 18 or 19 yr old caught having sex with a person 15 or 16 yrs old will probably go to prison. This is why the character played by Fluke was so freaked out on that scene in The Warp Effect. :)

It also totally annoys me that ppl say things like "I don't want to see BL from HS because I am not into that age group". Like dude/gal, why are you watching BL again? I watch for the stories, not to get my fix on hot guys. LOL. Well, sometimes I watch for both reasons but you know what I mean. :D

I watched the scene again after I read your comment. I don't see them being uncomfortable. There is one really hot second where the guy playing Shogun looks off to the side and seems experiencing boredom or is just feeling impatient (maybe the scene took too long to shoot). In any event, that is totally on the director and/or the actor, but it didn't seem like he was acting unhappy or uncomfortable during the rest of the scene. And it is not like they kissed for real or had any kind of unusual physical contact. I replayed the scene and I noticed that Ken never really smells Shoguns armpit. They switched the angle to make it look like he did, but he didn't. They also don't kiss. If the actors were uncomfortable, it would be because they don't like each other or are being unreasonably homophobic.

Finally, the scene was necessary to setup the character's archs.

The entire story has an unusually fast pacing that is causing big holes to show up in the story. Not plot holes, but just entire parts of the story that are not being told and happen between scenes. Like in this case, they have been talking before and now they see each other for the first time (?) or maybe they have sex for the first time (?). We don't know.

But yeah, just watch the scene again and if you can pinpoint to something that tells us the actors are uncomfortable, let me know. I am curious to see what is it that you see...

That's an excellent point. It does make me a little uncomfortable when a sexual show features minors, but then…
Yeah, something like Degrassi which was mostly heterosexual and had real teens as actors... That was mostly about sex. LOL

Ppl sometimes can't see how their own heteronormative POV makes them see things that are not there. Heteronormativity is a major paradigm in our society that blinds some.

I agree with many of your points especially regarding the importance of safe sex and sexual education within minors.…
Personally, I don't feel comfortable with minors depicting sex scenes, unless they are fully simulated and they have to be of a certain age (say, old enough to know what sex is in theory at least). However, if you show a boy kissing a girl (both minors), then I don't know why you can't show a boy kissing a boy. Too many ppl get hanged up on that. I liked that Love Sick had no issues showing Captain and White kissing. If the scene calls for it, and if its done professionally, I see nothing wrong. God knows we see so many heterosexual teens kissing on screen. I don't like that ppl make homosexual intimate scenes to be like pornography :O It is not. Its all the same!

Same Director who did Love Sick 2.. Make it Right and What the Duck. not surprising as you can definitely see…
Yeah. It has some of the flaws of those shows but also some of the good things those shows had. We will see how it goes but I liked it thus far. I just wish they had given this series 12 or 18 episodes to develop it better.

Do you mean the actors in that scene are "children" or do you mean the characters? Because I am pretty sure neither of the two actors are that young. They looked older to me. Like 18+, maybe even mid 20s.

It gets bad after episode 4, then it takes a nosedive around episode 9 or 10. It comes back a little bit for Episode 14. I gave it a 6.5/10, but only because I love the guys who played Em and Name. And because I think the guy who played Champ is such a good actor and I feel bad for him being in this. So, I was generous with the ratings. I think most people would give it a 5 or 6 out of 10 and only because the first episodes are pretty good.
