I see a couple of folks here comparing him to Nanon Korapat. Well, I agree that he is as good of an actor as Nanon is now, but the person who Fourth reminds me of the most is Ohm Pawat. Fourth is now 18 and he was 17 when he filmed MLC. Ohm was around that same age when he filmed Hes Coming To Me. Both MLC and HCTM are Aof's series. Both did a great job playing young gay men. HCTM was a bit more demanding in terms of the acting, but after seeing Fourth in both MLC and MSP, I can safely say he is as good as or better than Ohm was at that age. I know that's a huge statement, especially considering we haven't really seen Fourth do a real crying scene like we saw Ohm in HCTM, but the range that Fourth has shown is impressive.
Many people would argue that Nanon, Fluke or Gun are the best actors in Thai BL. I would argue that Nanon and Fluke have not shown to me that they can do comedy very well. Gun has done action and some comedy, but I think the sincerity and goofiness that Ohm can bring to a character is unique in Thai BL. And I would argue that Fourth has those same qualities. He can do comedy, and drama very well. He brings sincerity to his performance that can reminds us of Ohm or Nanon. To top it off, he can be goofy and silly, like Ohm or Gun.
Does he still have room to grow? Yes. However, considering that we are talking about him being at the same level or almost at the same levels as Ohm or Nanon is already impressive. Consider that Ohm actually went to acting school, while Nanon comes from an acting family, we are really setting the bar very high.
Finally, I have to add the way Fourth talks about acting also reminds me of Ohm a little bit. I watched him doing an interview in which he made fun of Gemini for not remembering his lines and for sometimes getting distracted by the food in a scene. He is hyper focused and more concerned about the acting than anything else. As I said before, of all the "child actors" I know of, Ohm is the only one I know that has gone on to study acting in college (I think Gun did too but I am not sure). So like Fourth, he is serious about his craft.
You are right about a lot of things, but this is not the first GL. GMM recently aired a GL.
The Warp effect has a lot of GL in the sense that one of the couples is a lesbian couple. It is not IMO stylized like a BL, so IDK if I had go as far as calling it GL, but you may think otherwise.
I thought the lesbian couple in BB was definitely a GL. Their story was made in the same style as a BL.
Woah Benedict, I did not expect you here with the stats, for a min I thought I was on the BB page haha 😆65…
I think this series has done well for a series with a bunch of no-names in it. BB had Ohm Pawat and Nanon Korapat and was one of the most awaited series of the year.
Yeah, I hope this series keeps growing in popularity. It is one of the best series from GMMTV in a while.
Exactly!! It was exhausting to watch that scene but a very well executed one. It's because they're kids, they…
TBH I cried when Gun started talking and they are all about to fight and he stops them, and they all huddle around him. I think Fourth had tears in his eyes... It was very emotional. :(
I stopped reading the comments and commenting here after episode 7, which remains my favourite together with episode…
You know, as someone who did not completely loved this series, I can really empathize with a lot of what you said. You are very correct in a lot of your observations, even about Chopper and Ben. The only thing I don't agree is that I did see chemistry between Chopper and Ben, and I thought Chimon's acting was on point. He did a lot with the little he was given.
A lot of the issues with this series has to do with how it treats its characters as plot devices to move the plot forward and neglects any character development. Compare and contrast to My School President or Moonlight Chicken, in which characters get stories and are fully developed. I think you are very correct too in pointing out that there is a lot here that is not the actors fault. I have always said that Phuwin is the kind of guy who works hard and tries to do the best. You can see it here in those scene were he is allowed to improvise and he really connects with Pond. He is sweet and romantic and really undestands his character in that sense.
On the other hand, Phuwin's acting fell flat in a couple of scenes and I think Pond was outside his range in many of the more emotional scenes. This however is also NOT the actor's fault. I think the director has a lot of blame here for not pointing things out to the actor and for not directing them or at least for not choosing the best shots that minimized the bad acting. In the case of Phuwin it was his awkward grimace expression whenever he had to cry. He also had a real hard time acting like he was mad, and ended up yelling a lot. I think that's because Phuwin is a sweet person that probably rarely gets mad. :) Pond did a lot better, but I still think that there were some scenes were I would not have changed the angle so you didn't see his face or eyes when he was crying. Again, for comparison see My School President, which used the right angles.
This series had a lot of issues, but it wasn't terrible. It was just not up to par with Moonlight Chicken and MSP. Us BL watchers have become quiet demanding lately. We get spoiled by Aof a lot. :)
While I love this show very much, I think they did a poor job for ep 1, it's weak and typical.
"they always end up having some childhood connection": Yes, in Asian BL.
"just moved to episode 1": Well, that makes episode 1 different, which is my point. And it is revealed to the audience, not the character.
I am pulling specific examples just to show that it is not a typical thing we see in episode 1. I actually was interested if there was an example of a series I didn't watch or one I forgot. I am not doing it to be an ass.
Civilized arguments can help us learn a lot from each other.

My question was give me 3 series in which they tell you the Seme is in love with the Uke from the first episode, then narrow that to the subgenre of BL which this series belongs to which is HS BL.
2Gether: No. That was a "big reveal" Love Sick: No. Big Reveal too. Tonhon: No. Also big reveal. Love by Chance: Well, he didn't fall in love with him right away and we did see it from HIS perspective but it didn't happen until a couple of Eps in.
I can keep going. I can't think of a single series in which this happened so for me, I don't consider the first episode typical because as a long-time BL watcher I said "Oh my, did they just do that?" NICE! We all know in 90% of the series the Seme already liked the Uke since Episode 1... :)
There are other ways in which I found Ep 1 unique and different. Pacing for one, I thought the pacing was great. A lot happened in episode 1. If I am not mistaken, another unique plot element was that the male best friend knew about Tinn liking Gun and this was also shown in Episode 1. The dream sequence in Ep 1 was perhaps a more typical BL trope, though not necessarily typical of Ep 1s. There are a few other tropes they used but not enough to make me feel like the episode was "weak" or "typical".

I just want to know how episode 1 is "weak and typical" because now you are saying the story is typical, which I guess it is.
I found the first episode quiet refreshing. It did setup the stage for the rest of the series which was very good and didn't disappoint.
If I had to point out to a "typical" episode full of cliches and annoying tropes, it was probably the "camping" episode. Why do all series have this is beyond me. I guess the word that comes to mind is formulaic.

Disagree doesn't mean fighting. I just want to know why you think its typical, because I thought the opposite. I thought they took a typical BL plot and added or twisted a lot of elements and ended up with something quite unique and original.
i don't really watch many bls anymore, but this sounds kinda like a fluff bad buddy so i'm kinda heavily considering…
Ditto for me. I liked it better than BB, but I think that's just because this is lighter and fluffier and so easier to "digest". BB is a bit heavier on the drama and as an allegory to being in the closet, it is a very powerful one. I liked both but I too would rate MSP just a bit higher. It is more polished, takes itself less seriously and it is very original.

"Typical"? Give me 3 examples of BLs in which it is revealed to the audience on the FIRST episode that the Seme has a secret crush on the Uke and is trying to help the Uke? Now, can we narrow it to the subgenre of "high school BLs"? Do you still have 3? One?
Note how the troll starts by saying their opinion about the series, then end up insulting anyone who doesn't share that opinion.

You said, "Its the first GL", and I was like no it isn't but for some reason I added on GMMTV because I thought it aired on one of their channels :O
The things with GAP is that it didn't had another ML couple or at least they didn't make too much of the MLs.
Yeah, I hope this series keeps growing in popularity. It is one of the best series from GMMTV in a while.

I don't think I will ever do this series on the blog, but you can see I do keep track of the history of BL:

You never answered my question BTW.
