ugh the acting was so good. I knew what was going to happen to Yuan Qi in episode 40 but Lusi's acting had me bowling like a baby again. Really good acting from WAY as well.
I was satisfied with the story/ending etc. given that they had to end in 40 episodes. I wish we had gotten more sweet scenes with the ML and FL. I wish the epilogue was longer.... but I'll take what I can get.
The development of Feng Yin and Yuan Qi's relationship made sense to me. She is A Yin but also not, so its not going to be the same. They still have to develop their own relationship with each other, I liked how in the dream sequence we got a A Yin and Gu Jin reunion. I liked seeing Feng Yin's feelings develop for Yuan Qi as she realized all that he had sacrificed. I think thats what made her helplessness in scene 40 when he died all the more powerful. I could see how absolutely in disbelief and shocked and gutted she was.
I am very sad that this is over. I hope that ZLS and WAY does another modern project together because their acting range is great and I think in a different type of story line their chemistry is going to be insane.
Oh also the kiss scene was so sweet..... sigh
Oh and also despite being young the Eagle Princess was such a bad ass actress. She was honestly one of the best and most well rounded characters in this story.
As the drama is coming close to an end I wanted to share some of the Live Streams that ZLS and WAY has done with english subs (all thanks to afterrnoont). Because they are so funny and cheers me up when the actual story gets depressing lol
Is this a sequel of Ancient Love Poetry? Do I have to watch that one to understand this one?
I haven't seen it, it is not necessarily a sequel because the main characters are different but it is tied to ALP. This is about the kids of some of the characters featured in ALP.
I haven't seen it, I found that they explained enough of the backstory in this one to be a standalone drama.

I've just been feeling awful for him the last few episodes and its heartbreaking. You are right he cuts a very lonely figure, everyone is being so mean to him and he was dealing with several impossible situations at once in all honesty and has been trying to make things right. I don't know what to say at this point, its all very heartbreaking and I wonder how this will all end. Its going to be too late by the time she figures everything out and they have just been wasting time they could have actually been happy together.
I have been wanting to see actual couple scenes of ZLS and WAY and I am not sure if I will get that in the next 9 episodes🥲
Every time I rewatch episode 25 I cry. ZLS and WAY did a fantastic job with that episode.
I am still kind of in disbelief about how everything played out there.
I really like this drama and am liking this show more and more as the days go. I've rewatched from the beginning while waiting for new episodes and can really see the growth in both A Yin and Gu Jin over the 27 episodes released so far. I love Gu Jin and A Yin together, we will see how the second half of the show shapes up :)
I am a bit but hurt about the scenes they have cut out though.... I keep seeing tid bits of cut out scenes on twitter and I am equally frustrated with the director as some other fans seem to be lol

I agree, but I think thats also because in those stories they got to explore their relationships haha, the chemistry got better as their love developed, which in this situation hasn't happened yet
And some of those had more mature characters than this one, like Eternal Love for example. I also liked the sequel to Eternal Love but in my opinion Reba and Gao Wei didn't have great chemistry.
I agree the actors are doing a good job, I am waiting to see how the second half of this story develops. I like the story but the first half they barely moved past the crush stage because the ML's affection got destroyed and in the second half she is going to be focused on revenge. They never actually ever had passion to look back on.....😔😭

I feel like there has been very few xinxia dramas that has shown good chemistry between leads. To me this genre is more about the idea of love paired with angst. Even couples who deeply love each other seems to have a more transcendent and intellectual love compared to other genres. And a lot of characters act very properly and think themselves above baser emotions like lust etc. so I don't expect raw chemistry in these types of dramas.
I have felt the chemistry when A Yin liked Gu Jin, and also when Gu Jin noticed her, but with all the tragedy happening in the story I feel like they really had no time to build on the attraction piece. Even on the second half I don't think we will get that due to the genre. But that also doesn't bother me, because I definitely pick up on the affection between them (although right now its more like a crush that hasn't fully been actualized yet lol). I am interested in their love story and hope they have a happy ending.
I also think that the actors have a lot of chemistry from what I've seen on BTS and interviews, photoshoots etc. I really hope they will do a modern drama together T.T
