Maybe because his character is still suppose to be fairly immature and he didn't want to be a true god? I personally like his relaxed vibe compared to some of the other Xianxia ML's, but I haven't read the novel so I'm just assuming his character will go through significant growth as he goes through his own trials etc. and goes through pain and loss.

I have noticed that whenever he sees people doing inappropriate things or trying to meddle in other peoples business, or treat A Yin badly he is usually quite firm to put people in their places and that to me is a solid ML

Plus having watched clips of WAY in modern drama's I have seen that he can be an extreme alpha type man lol - so I think he is playing his character here.

I wouldn't drop the drama for that misunderstanding (its up to you of course), He thinks she saved him so he is grateful to her and it leads him to be extra nice to her (but based on the ML's personality he is the type to be generous to people anyway). The misundertanding is only mentioned a few times before episode 10 and his infatuation with the Princess ends in that episode, and he makes a quite rational decision about everything at that point. I was very impressed with how he handled the situation.

But this being a xianxia there are plenty of other angst and background drama and misunderstandings lol. I love watching the ML and FL together so I've been enjoying the ups and downs haha

The simple but really genuine love story between A Yin and Gu Jin really has me hooked. I know since this is a Xianxia there is going to be lots of angst so I am ready for that, but for the time being I enjoyed how pure their love is. When she got ready for her wedding my heart broke because she was alone getting ready and picked a simple flower bouquet and was ready to marry her love and live the rest of their lives together. That is a moment of happiness that she will never get back.

I also like how despite losing his affection ties Gu Jin still can't help but be drawn to A Yin even without understanding why he even wants to be around her.

My heart breaks for A Yin because Gu Jin is a very caring ML and I would be devastated too if I was about to marry him and now he can't remember me 😭😭. How pissed off Gu Jin is going to be eventually when he finds everything out is keeping me going haha, and I know Feng Yin will be bad ass too but for the time being I am really enjoying A Yin.

She is so sweet and sincere. I am going to miss her 💔💔💔

Honestly I wouldn't skip the first 9 episodes, the ML grows up quickly episode 3 onwards in my perspective and his protective attitude towards A Yin really made him grow on me quite quickly. And you will miss a lot of their relationship development if you skip to 10. The first 2 episodes were slow for me but the rest really got me hooked lol.

This drama is one of those shows that makes me feel a lot of emotions, I've already cried a few times and ready to cry more.

I've been really enjoying this drama, at this point I just go from one Lusi couple to the next because she is so great with all her ML's

But her and WAY seem to have a specially chaotic bond LOL - they also seem very comfortable with one another.

I see a lot of people below saying the story isn't anything new but I think it has a fresh spin on fantasy. First of all this show has a female CEO, she is a bad ass character with a slightly dark side to her and I like that. He tries to come across as tough but we've seen that he seems really focused on just doing his job and staying low key and enjoying his life ( I don't see the same arrogance or ego that I usually see in ML's in dramas like this from him). He is silly and slightly awkward if I am being honest.

I love their visuals together. They are a stunning couple, has good chemistry and the music/cinematography is their scenes together is beautiful. They make me feel their chemistry which is what I always look for in a drama. Plus I like that it seems to be a she fell first, he falls harder storyline. The comedy being imbued in the storyline is a bonus. I am excited to see where this drama goes.

Oh man I've heard about the fan war stuff from Twitter. I had no idea there was so much that went behind the scenes for all that stuff.

To be clear I am not a ZLY fan, I am a Zhao Lusi fan and hearing all that stuff made me so sad :( . I'm an international fan but still from twitter I see how much hate Zhao Lusi gets.

agreed about the second leads plot! I am hooked on their story. I think maybe because the SML seems right on par with the SFL (in terms of her cunningness etc.) its interesting to see how it might play out

I am only halfway through episode 4, but I really like Gong Shang Jue's character. I find him less naive than the ML and I like how strategic, cautious and skilled he seems. I haven't figured out in terms of a gut feeling if he seems like a 'good' or evil character.

I do like both female spies. They are strong capable women and that's refreshing but I guess as the story progresses it might be not be as easy to like them as they start plotting and carrying out their missions.

I do like Gong Zi Yu. He's handsome and thoughtful but is gullible. The scenes between him and the elder sister are funny.

Sorry I really can't comment because I didn't know about any of the historical context or much about the Chinese entertainment industry to be honest. But that sounds pretty messed up.

I am excited about My Journey to You though. It is very interesting so far and even if it doesn't have a romance angle I find the scripts world building pretty intriguing. But I am only on episode 2 so far haha
