Thai speakers, help me again please. Of the conversation between Fou4Mod and Chian after he calls him 20 times, half seems to have left untranslated. Could anyone explain what Chian's excuse is?
I think Leon's best acting shines through in his moments of stillness. He's got incredible facial expressions…
Indeed. I said pretty much the same thing in a comment last week. Leon's managed to make Bua the character I love the most in the show. I didn't think that would happen.
Strange, I'm only 30 mins. into the finale, and while I love all the characters, warts and all, and have done throughout the series, I find myself suddenly lacking any interest in Fou4Mod & Chian. I just want the show to speed up to Bua, whose character now fascinates me the most. In no small part, I guess, because Leon has an astonishing screen presence, and is the best actor in the group.
The subtitles are driving me crazy. In the opening scene, does Fou4Mod really say he doesn't want to rush into a relationship because he might meet someone else interesting? Thai speakers, help!
I have no idea in what sense you mean it. Either way, thank you!
Okay, it’s clear that I’m not going to persuade you of anything, and that you are clearly not engaging with what I wrote — in sharp contrast to me, who has agreed to many of your points. So let’s not speak further.
But, without making assumptions as to your gender and sexuality, please don’t mention my review in the same breath as homophobic comments. I am a gay man who’s been beaten up for being gay. I know what homophobia is. (And I find it ironic that straight women, who form the majority of BL audience, constantly tell me here what homophobia is.) Fortunately, if there is a group that knows how to laugh at itself, it is gay men, and thank god for that. With po-faced defendants like the BL fandom you speak of, who needs homophobes?
I have no idea in what sense you mean it. Either way, thank you!
Again, you talk as if I don’t agree with your first paragraph, when it’s precisely what I concede in my previous comment.
As for your second opinion, it is begging the question. Your first paragraph implies the second. But that also goes to the hypocrisy of your comment. Why am I not allowed to react the way I want — which is almost always civil— when others are? Is it just that only some opinions are acceptable? Equally, you could have controlled your reaction to the review, and to the comment above, and kept your reserve. You didn’t. Yet, you proceed to assume a tone of superiority over what I ought and ought not to do — which again is to set up a strawman, because you posit an assumption I never made in the first place.
The funny thing is, your comment is a very good illustration of the hypocrisy I speak of. It is clear that those who spout homilies here about freedom of expression are precisely the ones most keen to suppress it. Ultimately, it comes down to intolerance of disagreement.
The saddest thing? This is a piece of satire. Evidently, many people here have no sense of humour.
Amazing! This is my favourite review that I ever wrote, and so, I’m happy my queens have done their job! You have to tell me what you think! Just ignore Mr Marbleface…
I have no idea in what sense you mean it. Either way, thank you!
I don’t mind people debating my reviews, you see. But people often don’t debate the points in the review, they either just dismiss it (fine by me), or just proceed to ad hominem attacks on me. That’s what I find insufferable. Do point out the flaws in my review, and I’ll either concede or respond. But when you call me a hater, or as one person under another review did, a Chinese communist, it is no longer about my review and I can’t defend it. I must defend myself, and I’d rather not. Not to strangers, to whom I owe no explanation whatsoever about who I am.
I have no idea in what sense you mean it. Either way, thank you!
I completely agree with you. This is an open forum, and people are free to disagree, and tell me so.
But do you see the hypocrisy in many of these comments? WanderousQueen’s review is the most popular, and most people agree with her — even on this page, to go by which comments are most liked. But if I dare disagree with that consensus, I get not a meaningful dissent from people who disagree, but ill-humoured, petulant, and sometimes racist comments from those who take umbrage at the fact that I disagree with the majority of the opinions. In other words, they feel entitled to disagree, even throw a strop, but I can’t. They are free to say, “your review is shit, you are a hater”, but if I say “this show is shit, and it is homophobic”, I’m a Korea-hating Chinese fascist. (Even though I’m not Chinese.)
"This show is awful! How did you manage to finish it?"It’s not awful. For a drama with limited resources and…
Oh, I quite enjoyed the show. I just don’t take BLs seriously, and make fun of everything, including myself. Doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy myself, much less that I hated it. For what it’s worth, I love Gelboys, and encourage you to check it out, if you haven’t already.

Yes, this show means a lot to WanderousQueen, enough to leave me a string of rebukes below and in one of my Thai reviews. Evidently the show means a lot to her — and to others who have sent me more unkind messages directly. Good for them.
But I might have to join your slump, because after the Gelboys finale tomorrow, I have no BLs left to watch!
This show is awful! How did you manage to finish it? I am halfway through the first episode and nothing works…
Hello! Lol, I mainly watched it because, after the first episode, I wanted to see how many commandments it would follow, and the one good kiss in the middle of it was just about enough to keep me going. It is mildly amusing, if you see it more as a KDrama than as a KBL. But I do think the writing and acting are atrocious.
Da On has psychological depth? He is flat as a platypus and has no deeper a brain. (Actually, that’s unfair to a platypus.) I’ve not seen a more passive uke in recent memory. The villains were at least cartoonish, in a Bold and the Beautiful kind of way. Still, this might not be for you!
Thank you, as always, for making me laugh and think at the same time.
The bit about the glasses reminds me of the universal soap opera trick where a character wears a pair of glasses, and suddenly, he becomes unrecognisable to all around him. Maybe this is the new handkerchief-in-the-trousers code for tops and bottoms?
Well, that last episode was worthy of the best KDrama by way of Mexican telenovelas, with some Bollywood melodrama thrown in for good measure. It was gloriously silly.

Freedom cuts both ways.
