No offense but the magical object and life and death/sacrifice dilemma are the same type of plot devices that have existed for ages. The bracelet arc wasn't lovely to watch but it sure was needed anyway. However it would have been presented, the viewers would still have some complaints as that arc wasn't really all sunshine and rainbows

I was legit crying, heartbreak for MM and then happiness when they finally hugged huhuhu I will sleep now while stopping at ep 20 as it is such a great episode. Very short but the best!

As much as the last 2 episodes were heartbreaking , we honestly needed the episode with the bracelet showcasing its powers because as haveninmuse said below, it ties to the story of ZQ's mom. It's not some useless angst. Now we know the full extent of the bracelet's powers and we can easily understand the backstory that is to come having seen firsthand what it has done to our leads. With this writer, there is purpose in nearly every detail

It's more like there's no breaking out of character moment yet for MY and LFY. Whereas for MS, his moment came at the end of ep 7. That's when he broke out of his novel character and started coming to life. For MY and LFY, they are still pretty much their novel personas - good, understanding, greater good > personal desires, blah blah that's why MY is still doing the noble idiocy trope. We still have 13 episodes to go so hopefully we do get to see them coming out alive and feel like real people like MS

A very nice read! I will agree that while episodes 18-19 are heavy, I loved watching them anyway, especially when MM keep trying to reach out and turn back to Ziqi despite the bracelet on her.

For real. I keep thinking how good (as a person) the marquis is. It's just that MM already has someone she likes. I really like the writer more now because of characterization of the side characters. Even the princess, even though I find her the more annoying compared to the marquis, her character actions are understandable. Her motivations are clear and if this were a story on her POV, she would have won Fuyi over in the end. This writer is really showing what it means for "everyone is the hero of their own story" - side characters or main characters, no exception.

There's a good comment from someone above. It's like an intentional dig at the bad writing of the novel. The main couple of the novel were together because the story says so. Their romantic scenes are romantic because the story says so. Whereas compared to the leads of our actual story, the development is going well. It's a meta commentary on bad writings.

Agree! Previously, when the preview doesn't include the leads that's when developments between the leads happen

As someone mentioned below, this drama isn't really about cases/demon hunting. There will be demons here and there, but not super central to the actual drama plot. If that's what you're looking for, you'll probably not find it here
