I don't think so. They either aim at a last minute happy ending or a tragic one.

I think the chances of a deeply dissatisfying ending are more prevalent in CDramas.

This is what I have been thinking ever since Sol gifted him a pocket watch. It'd be amazing if 34 year year Sol time travelling to the past collides with a time travelling Sun Jae before they ended up on the island and being confronted by the taxi driver.

He's either been in a coma for years, is missing or dead. Had this been a CDrama, all of these moments would have constituted an elaborate dream.

However, it's kind of realistic. A newly college going kid wouldn't have a lot of money to buy the better stuff. Also, the "S" seems to have been freshly (and also a teeny bit unprofessionally) engraved. I wonder if they had both come across something, and it became related to a precious memory and Sun Jae decided to make a pendent out of it.

And him to totally goofing it up.

The reason I brought it up was because a certain someone kept bringing up its recent KDrama adaptation. The Japanese original had a much older male lead. Didn't see that person mentioning it at all, LOL. Since, the commentator is all about acting prowess.

I don't get why they are getting offended by us enjoying this drama. If I wanted to watch something serious and life altering, I certainly wouldn't be cribbing here. There have been times I have been like WTF about a show's success. There is a very recent drama that comes to my mind. However, I haven't been going around bashing those who loved it. Also, whatever is wrong with being attractive. It's not I have to be besties with these two actors. SMH. 🤪

So, according to you, I ought to enjoy the performances of those you have mentioned more only to prove a point? Have any of them done a time travelling romcom? Please suggest if you have any on your mind... Are you aware that certain things can be understood and savoured during a certain period of one's life? Also, you should read my comment properly once more, especially the last section. Then you would understand my "logic" as you put it.

Coming on strong, aren't we? You have sort of answered your own question on its popularity. Why does this story have this pull, despite similar plots already existing? Sometimes, a lot of other factors play into a drama's popularity such as the actors' personal charm that comes through onscreen, acting abilities, the ease with which the story is able to make you suspend your disbelief, set and costume design, the editing, the cinematography, the quality of dialogues themselves, the overall themes and messaging, etc. This drama has, until now, has gotten many of these factors right. This drama draws upon the simplicity of the late 1990s to early 2000s, during a period of time when a lot was changing, yet many things remained the same. Perhaps, you do not have the reference points that make it special to us. Having said that, not liking it despite belonging to that particular time is understandable as well. I have disliked shows that have been widely loved, and have loved shows that many dropped.
