Thanks for revealing that there is a love triangle and no kiss scenes to boot! I would have bore with the triangle but no kisses makes me too angry at the end.

I would say overall it was a happy ending but also kind of bittersweet.
I haven't found it as the case for Koreans. They do not care about the fan feelings for series like these.

Essentially they don't have to, as the biggest selling point of K-dramas is the airing period which has only one season. It is not the later BD or streaming sales. And the audience for the most part is limited to Korea.

But western shows actually have to run for multiple seasons and with audience spanning multiple countries. The biggest revenue sources are actually streaming sites and BD sales. To be deemed a success, fan feelings and ratings overtime matter. This is untrue for only adapted series which have a set narrative already defined.

So at best what I have seen is that the writer will hold a press conference to justify her choice.

It could have been 20 episodes, which is what usually happens with such high profile productions. This is clearly a pre-produced drama as it started filming from August 2019 and not shot episode to episode depending on ratings. The production planned to go with 16 episodes, not that they were short on time but they decided for it to be.

Suffice to say, I can justify this being a bad move in many ways and I am left with this bad feeling which will haunt me for so long. Even though the premise with NK pretty much foretold a bad ending but I certainly did not wish for them to eternally suffer like this.

What an idiotic ending, its like a joke from the writer, enjoying their struggles and love, just because she could do it, she did it.

Not having him at all would have been a lot better and they could live a happier life with someone else. While reminiscing about their lost loves, and in lieu of that the countless other separated families, the writer could better portray the noth-south divide; eventually push for normal visa processes leading to possible visits and in longer term immigration.

So the drama was an ok fair, I did skip some scenes as the overall criminal hacker premise only gets enough exposure in the last episodes, before its just eye wash and weak.

The romance was also ok, nothing too good. The whole drama shifts from the cliche troupe of AI with feelings to a human with feelings with one unique thing that both are the same so the heroine had an easier transition.

Honestly i think that this listing should be combined with MFFL and not a new entry as technically it is one drama…
This site does not have provision to accommodate multiple seasons under one name or in other words, it can't display a series on one page. All dramas with seasons have separate content pages.

A tragic masterpiece that should be enjoyed once in a lifetime, and never again.

Though in all honesty the last two episode were incredibly odd and rushed. Got no better words as even if it spanned more episodes I don't think such a plot would make much sense. It was especially jarring to see the FML still not being able to adapt to the norms, punishments and general disregard for human life of the period. Despite living there for so many years and seeing 3 bloody transitions.

The ending wasn't satisfying either. It could be thought of as fitting in today's standards but in ancient times I have seen far worse having much more than what our poor MC got at the end. In fact only rulers like him in his period could retain the throne.

The series went full circle with zero happiness for the MC. Perhaps the only change would have been that in start he was a misunderstood killer and at the end he became a pathological mass murderer.

The progression to all that was just so good that for the first time I can't bring myself to give it any less than a 9. Even though I will never see this drama again.

After coming from "Kiss Me", which I hated, to unexpectedly see the same couple, I had no expectations but those…
Wow how some arduously rise and then fall to the ground splat, right in the last few episodes... Using such troupes was just insulting to the drama's prior standard. They didn't have to include the same old overused progression to the finale. Alas!

I guess that's why the rating is sub 9. I also couldn't justify it due to the sheer dip.

After coming from "Kiss Me", which I hated, to unexpectedly see the same couple, I had no expectations but those got overturned pretty quickly!

Finally after the only good Thai series (Hormones), this is the first one after many which I am being able to like. The main couple is very good together and I have come to like both of the actors.

And an honorable mention of the sweet grandma character, such personas are so rare in dramas. I remembered my own late grandma (made me cry a little inside).

Well this turned out to be something I can't stomach from the get go. I was baffled myself. In retrospect though I will tone down this genre unless a true starer with retained 9+ comes around. I was too desperate watching anything with 8+ coming out.

It was indeed some excellent cinematography and the only sane character, the ML, which made me stick around till E12 but I couldn't hold on.

I again say sorry if you guys feel any kind of offense. Maybe I'm not from Asia that's why I have said that
Its kind of slavery and servitude, especially in the corporate sector. Managers demanding unjustified extra work and hosting parties on expense of the employees. Similar parties involving you know what, for political gains and deals. The problem with K culture is this that these have become established means rather than something wrong and derogatory.

Exacerbated by the fact that they have all those conglomerates amassing money in an excessive manner, severely skewing the money distribution across their country. Making their nation more inclined towards the same. Driving prices and reducing living standards.

I don't know whether they are really that normal but all these aspects are excessively portrayed in K-Dramas.

Aside from these there are specific stereotypes (stupid, evil, overall bonkers) they associate foreigners with which is always presented in K-Dramas in a very excessive and overacted manner. I have never seen a seriously proper foreigner character in K-Dramas ever, they even manage to turn normal foreigners into some extremely fake persona... A feat on itself!

The drama was great but as usual became quiet boring and a cringe fest in the last ~7 episodes. In fact, I came face to face with some characters on whom I wished death upon every second they were onscreen. The sister and her mom. I do understand plight to an extent but what they do is just too excessive. In my country the hospital would have never allowed them to escalate the matter so much.

The paper about a specific company's medicines being sold more than others will never have been published in any scientific journal either, especially they would never be named specifically. Most likely it could have been an expose or a proper police investigation. If such a paper was published first hand, I guess, even in Korea, his son would have experienced violence and harassment. Pharma are extremely powerful entities.

Is it normal for Chinese dramas to have bad episode cuts? Do they even have quality check for editors? I mean who cuts an episode in the middle of a sentence? Its not the first time really, I have seen this with many Chinese shows.

Most episodes get cut in the most odd scenes. It feels like that the whole series was first assembled in full length, someone came and split it in episodes with an even timed axe. Later the editors added the needed delays and fade effects. So extremely odd...

It takes sometime to get used to watching shows with subtitles and making reference to the different cultural and emotive style.

I started from Korean, and its fortunate that I did it this way, cuz Korean dramas in my opinion are far far better than others. They have some mild inclinations towards some aspects but they know how to control them on screen and only rarely they become more than an annoyance. Only perhaps their work life and its politics is something I don't like at all.

I share your opinion on Japanese. They also have strong inclinations over some specific topics but in their case, most irk me the wrong way a lot. I usually can not wrap my head around anything and abandon any series in only 1-2 episodes.

Chinese on the other hand rarely produce exceptional content in my opinion. Most of their series are extremely long and filled with established troupes. They start strong, drag at the middle or late stage and finally the end is either a mess or underwhelming. I have seen so many promising series, only to get burnt in the last 10-15 episodes. And then there are the crowds chanting, how beautiful or handsome the leads are.... god I hate that troupe.

Taiwanese/Thai are satisfactory, haven't found good rated series that I disliked. Though blatant gay content makes me abandon many series. But that's a religious personal issue for me.

Overall it was a good ride. The last 2 episodes weren't as consistent with the first 4 but the quirks go away as they come in. The gangster world is also just thrown in for comic relief, or you can level it as PG rated stuff at best. The drama isn't rushed and all progression seems natural.

I don't know about Taiwan, but this definitely happens in China. The parents go to the city to earn more money,…
I think that is rather universal whether they are going to live with them or not. As that is a cultural trait. Asian societies demand marriage and children, its like something that has to happen and most see that as checkpoints in one's life.
