For me it was interesting quirky series. Not as great as the ratings suggest nor any bad either. It left me with a good vibe and a certain connection to the main 4. Although all the plot lines were not all very interesting but depicted some very clever plots. I admit, I did get bored at some points and skipped some scenes. But still some parts made me reverse that trend and watch it completely from time to time.

Can I expect good kiss scenes? It seems doubtful since the actors have a 16 year age gap.
Only at the end.

It was a good drama. For most, perhaps a great drama. Has great re-watch value. Keeps you on your toes for most of its run.

Romance is ok and doctor parts are awesome and thrilling.

You should have watched this in WeTV app, their subtitles are way better than Netflix's.
I prefer watching downloaded series rather than streaming as that way I can store it, if I love it. Usually its fine, only with this series, it was quirky. But oh well, I knew I wouldn't like the series that much.

If you're naturally not interested in the ghost stories or some of the support roles, then you won't naturally…
For me it wasn't even mature by the standards of K-Drama culture. I am a person who cuts out romance parts from an abysmal drama if they reach a certain level.

Like consider Radiant Office, which perhaps didn't even have an implied sex scene and long kisses like Healer or the recent goblin spin off. But it left a strong enough impression on my mind that I cared to invest significant time in cutting it out of the drama's less desirable political parts. I can still picture many of the scenes whenever I want, while I remember nothing even if I try about Hotel Del Luna's romance.

If you're naturally not interested in the ghost stories or some of the support roles, then you won't naturally…
My mindset is astonishingly completely on a tangent to both your interpretation of mine and your supposed characterization of a person who would like the show. At the end of the day, I will never say, watching the show was a mistake. I do not have to love a show to consider it watchable.

It having ghosts and their stories isn't something that I don't like. If they were tightly integrated like the school girl I would not have said what I said. Also the main plot could have been far deeper, if those were not there.

I do not see the romance as secondary as that was the major component in her past and then in the present which moved the plot. Thus what I craved was a good progression of romance which was severely lacking.

Terming that kind of romance as mature is something I completely disagree with, considering they know they are never going to be together but have ample time to get to that predestined stage. Also romance takes time to develop, it doesn't have to start from the get go. A mature romance is subjective, it heavily depends on your life experiences so I cannot really say that my definition will ever fit yours.

I agree with your last point to an extent but well I don't like open endings with such bleak hopes. Even if they meet, thousands of times even, they will never have the same set of memories regardless.

This one was great, if watched selectively for scenes having the few main and support characters. It has literally no re-watch value. The ghost stories were good to an extent but unnecessary considering that the plot revolving on the leads made the drama better. The main plot did not have much substance. Only few characters made the show what it is, not to mention the romance and the tension between the leads.

Main plots were based on deities playing with mortals and waiting to see their reactions, which is a weak concept by itself.

Though I was letdown by the romance as they only hug or resort to teasing the audience with frequent fiery stares. They never even acknowledge their love in words. Though the situation dictates that they should make the most of the time they have with each other but they waste the majority of it. Not to mention the very early revealed ending which kills off the FL, helps in anyway.

So folks its a doomed romance, do not watch this show for it, there is no hope for the couple, I don't know why I wasted my time over it, even though some reviews clearly hinted towards the outcome.

is there any romance in this drama between the male and female main leads?
None and their probably won't be even if there is a season 2. But they have some female leads which stay around the player, making you wish that it had something. The original story didn't have it till the end either.

When I read it, I got struck with the fact that this friendship and way of life for them will not remain till the end of their lives as realistically that happens when your friends get their significant others. Not to mention that the e-sports scene is a short stint for most players.

I Honestly think that romance wouldn't fit in there. try watching more before you drop. You wont regret it.
Well it could fit completely well in it, there were ample opportunities but I guess they didn't have the budget to do so as that would mean a longer stint. The drama is already a very very very contracted version of the original story.

The original is even more blander in the second half as it has a longer period to work with the cast being in a stabler position. Though you do feel a connection and just keep watching them, doing, what they do.

Essentially, the story limits itself to only e-sports in the last arcs, real life etc takes a back seat. Reducing the audience to those who like the e-sports genre more. It wasn't my cup of tea so even though I loved more than half the novel story, I couldn't help but later hatefully drop it.

Its a mixed bag, it has some good and awesome parts but occasionally you do feel that a lot of the plots are too short and shallow to properly convey their purpose. And also mostly there is no explanation about the game nor the e-sports scene around it. So certainly it has been produced for the fans of the novel series.

You cannot expect to enjoy and understand all that is going on in the series without reading the novel or watching the anime.

Not to mention the subtitles are the worst I have ever seen. The person who produced them clearly only knows spoken Chinese to an extent and English is not his native tongue. Many lines, especially when the characters are thinking to themselves are not translated, usually reduced to one or two words... The written Chinese is mostly not translated... I couldn't get past how Netflix even allowed such trash to be shown.

The story was dry already in the later parts of the novels, so I can understand why people want romance in it so it can have that added warmth. But well that's how this series is, its only about the friendships and the e-sports scene so its inevitable for it to lose those higher emotional tones. I also came to dislike the novels at the end and never could finish them.

Mo Xu is like a super human, going everywhere, meeting anyone, tricking everyone as he wishes. Really ruins the plots and presents tasteless twists. I don't have a good outlook to this drama as when the foundation is just so weak, how can the latter part be any good.

perhaps you're new to chinese dramas?? The action scenes appeared weak and lacking yes but i guess it's because…
Its fine, I also meant it along the lines of lets say how Korean dramas portray it.

I mean how an ML like him can't have a girl, he is just begging to be romanced, haha
