Title A Journey to Love Spoiler
Really???
I'm confused as to why they wouldn't actually show us the LITERAL leads happy ending, a lot of cdramas do this, is it a censorship thing? Where certain storylines have to end very vaguely to be able to air?

I'm really liking this show and I know we have a third of it to go but what is it with dramas lately and couples where the male lead is the one making all of the effort, what happened to equal relationships where two individuals are just as in love with each other and are both showing it with actions and words?

Yeah unfortunately c-dramas still have a long way to go in terms of writing good FL roles. But even taking that…
That would not surprise me at all, yeah I don't get it, a writer/director telling love story should at least attempt to craft a balanced relationship of two equals trying their best to support each other. Instead a lot of dramas feel like a 13 year old girl's fantasies of romance and prince charming.

Yeah, there are some wonderful female characters but there seems to be a lot of attempts at "strong" female characters without trying to just write first and foremost well written complex characters and it translates into feeling like someone is trying very hard to convince me of something that is just not present in the storytelling. with having characters constantly comment on it. And since most cdramas are romances, this also manifests into unequal relationships where the MLs seem to the ones doing all the emotional and physical labor and Idk why but this year it felt particularly prominent.

I'm just trying to imagine if the roles were reversed and how people would react to the ML treating the FL like that. This drama had a lot of the same issues i struggled with regarding a lot of shows this year, a lot of lip service "she's smart she's strong" without anything to actually back it up in the storytelling and as an extension of that relationships where you felt like one half was doing most of the work, emotional labor and concessions.

I hope they change the original story because so far I'm loving it. If they keep it this will go from 10 to 0…
No because I haven't watched a drama while it airs in so long but I was so excited for this I started it and it was incredible and then it felt like someone threw a cold bucket of water on me. I really hope they change it but that quote at the start about loving each other until you hate each other makes me think they might not...

Wait, I didn't know about this, so the female lead in the original cheats on the ML with her best friend?
I really really hope they find some other conflict because this has the potential to be amazing and I know people are gonna be so mad, a japanese drama from the 90's can get away with something like that, a kdrama now giving us cheating between the main leads, it's not gonna fly, I've been watching kdramas for years and I've never seen it happen in a show marketed as a romance between the main leads.

Well, I watched the first episode and loved it but I'm gonna wait until it ends to see if it follows the same storyline, because I can handle a lot of things in my romances, cheating is not one of them. Thank you for heads up.

Wait.. Correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't this a 16-episode series? I thought i've seen this as a 16-episode series…
You're not wrong, I don't know how accurate it was but the number was 16 on this website for a long time. We're getting a lot of 12 ep shows nowadays so maybe the production cut it down.

I'm glad this was saved by amazon prime and is finally coming out, gives me hope that at least some of the 80 plus dramas in the vault might actually see the light of day.

Do Guk looks so much in love with Yi Ju. That's honestly sad. By the time she falls in love with him, it would…
Yeah, I hope we get at least a couple of episodes where she's just as in love with him as he is with her.

He does nothing for me but if people want to thirst after a villain because he's hot, let them? He's not real and it's harmless, some of y'all really need to start exercising some "idk about you but existing in the real world gives me and my loved ones immunity from the actions of fictional villains. hope you manage to get your family out of star wars" energy.

episode length got longer I believe...
That's because MJTY is 24 eps so no matter how long the episodes are they won't surpass 40 x 45 min so that's not an issue. Hopefully WOL gets longer episodes but I'm not holding my breath as it's about to air we'll see how it goes.

Is someone messing with the rating? This drama should definitely be above 8.0.
I think it's because MDL changed its rules a while ago where popularity plays a role in a drama's rating, seeing as this show is rated by less than 200 people, that brought it down if you click on the little blue icon after "192 users" and go down you can see the ratings by age group and on average that puts it at an 8.4 at least.

I have such respect for this writer because that mystery was so tightly plotted, everything made sense while also being suspenseful and exciting. Way too often lately we get mystery dramas (chinese/korean) with a lot of bells and whistles to distract us from the fact that the writing is a mess, with characters everyone keeps telling you are smart but are actually deeply stupid and enough plot holes for a Swiss cheese wheel. In a genre where the story lives and dies by how well written the plot is but also needs its characters to have believable motivations and act accordingly, it's a very hard thing to do.

Title Ripe Town Spoiler
Magistrate Wei always looked like Baozi to me but the big misdirect was I thought he was illiterate. I also don't…
I loved this drama but I have the same complaints regarding some of the details, I don't understand why the writers chose to have sangeng never find out about his father as well as having him side with the monster that is lu zhi knowing what he did and knowing his master had it coming for his role in the events 20 yrs ago, not that negates him from wanting revenge or justice but him choosing to use the same methods wei was using and perhaps even worse because he ended up causing so many innocent deaths. I also see some people condemning wei for the path he took and I ask what else was he supposed to do? I know you said he had zhong's writings but what would those prove coming from the son of a dead prostitute? Did they even have something they could compare it to, while lu zhi had evidence and witnesses that framed lujixin. Even if he pretended he was lu yubuo what proof did he have that he was? All he would've done was gotten himself killed.

Title Ripe Town Spoiler
Not San Geng joining hands with the people who caused his father's death against the only person trying to get a measure of justice or revenge against them and all to avenge the man who murdered his father... He doesn't know but oh the irony and utter hypocrisy of him saying " can you get justice for my master when the killer is a high official" coming from his mouth as if he isn't doing the exact same thing as magistrate wei, taking matters into his own hands and siding with someone he knows is a mass murderer for his own revenge and in doing so caused the death of nine people. It's been years since i've disliked a lead character so much.
