Same, I like to see both leads treat each other well or at least for there to be a logical canon reason why one of them is treating the other like sh*t and why the MLs are always SO devoted and obsessed, at least make it both? Most of the time neither side makes any sense and it seems it's "just because" the writers deemed it so and it's kind of getting exhausting when every drama is like this. It's starting to feel like a box they have to tick or a rule they have to follow...

I just came here to see if this would be a good lighthearted watch but reading this, I think it's better to look elsewhere. You can't be both stupid and entitled, pick a struggle. WOL and PR were especially brutal in terms of the FLs and their treatment of the ML but I think this year and most of last year too, that's basically the default for pretty much every FL to varying degrees so this nothing new, it's either she's treating him 10 ranks below something she stepped on or their entire relationship is contingent on him doing literally everything. I don't know why I still get surprised, everytime I watch a drama or read the comments I think surely not this one too but alas...

That was a general commentary on the state of romantic relationships in cdramas nowadays. Also it's called an opinion for a reason and I'm allowed mine as you are allowed yours, and mine is while the difference isn't as pronounced in this drama towards the end, there's still a very significant chasm between what the FL and ML are doing for each other in terms of romance.

Yeah I think expecting a cdrama lately to have an equal relationship where it's not just the male lead doing basically everything and instead they show you that both characters love each other just as much and make the same amount of effort is like looking for a unicorn on earth.

Lmao as is your right, I honestly don't care who's hot and who isn't, it barely registers when I'm watching something but I get that it's a big part of it for a lot people which is great.

Characters like this seem to be this actor's specialty, him and the FL's actress nickname for him is literally "underworld simp" as I saw in one of the comments below so that doesn't bode well.

Nah I trust you because most people I see in the comments on this website only care if the ML is being a green flag and down bad. I've seen so many dramas when the relationship is so unequal and the comments are 90% about how hot the ML is and how in love he is is and what he's doing for the FL etc which also seems to be the case here.

I respect the objectivity, I guess that's better than a lot of shows but why would you do it with the ML twice and not even once with the FL, if I don't see the characters actually actively doing these things then saying she would if she was given the opportunity is a moot point because it becomes a writing issue you need to actually show me.

They're really having him die for her twice? lmao that sure doesn't scream equal love to me (usually in these situations what I consider equal is both of them dying for the other at different times like Fairy and Devil) Thanks because that was the vibe I was getting from the spoilers/comments and thought maybe I was wrong but I guess I wasn't, which tracks because 90% of cdramas are like this so I won't waste my time.

Thanks, because I got accidentally spoiled on twitter and it looks he already died to save her and he's going to do it again in the next episodes so I thought it was just him making all the sacrifices and I prefer badass equal couples.

I'm more of a "Badass couple willing to die and kill for each other" rather than "ML by himself making all the sacrifices for the FL". So does this one fall under the first category or the second?

Thanks for the answers, oh I don't have an issue with him being whipped, I just prefer to see couples who are both equally whipped for each other and try to help and protect each other instead of it being just one party who's more in love and reading the comments everyone was talking exclusively about the ML's feelings so i was curious about FL's side of it.

When does she fall for him? From the trailer it looks like he's whipped but she can't stand him, she's either stabbing him or shooting arrows at him or looking like she hates him, Is it an equally devoted relationship or more from his side ? I read what you said about him being whipped and protecting her, is that the case for her too?

How are NY's feelings for JY? You mentioned he would sacrifice anyone for her and she's his one and only but nothing about her feelings, does she feel the same way? Because the trailers made it seem like it only goes one way ( all the romantic lines and big gestures are from JY). This a romance so of course she falls in love with him but is it to the same degree as him?

Absolutely loved this drama, a wonderful cast of interesting female characters with a really smart heroine and a worthy antagonist, great friendships and a well written plot, a special mention to the ost which was also fantastic and added to the experience.

The trailers aren't filling me with much confidence, the slapstick comedy tone is not my cup of tea and the fact that every single romantic line spoken in them has been from the ML with nothing from the FL makes me think this is yet another cdrama where the ML is carrying the entire relationship on his back and that's not my cup of tea either, I could be wrong though so I'll reserve judgement until I watch the actual show.

Why does practically every serious female centric drama have cheating spouses in regards to the leads, is there literally nothing else to focus on or cause conflict in a relationship?

Yes!!! I just mentioned YAMG in my other comment to you, I loved those two. Gender roles are a minefield even in fiction lol, I truly would love a weak ml where it's the fl that does all the saving and a poor Cinderella ml with the powerful ceo who falls for him and is like what am I feeling? What's happening? and then fights her powerful family because they're against him or the goddess who falls in love with a mere mortal who is a damsel in distress she has to keep saving. In this show for example and correct me if I'm wrong, it seems she's the more powerful of the two even taking into consideration their genders and yet it's still the same thing, if it was the other way around with a powerful man treating a woman who is literally willing to die for him and constantly proves that she loves him more than anything like this, would it not be an issue that people would complain about? We could pick any random drama and 90% of the time whatever gets chosen will have an exceedingly devoted ml but fls in the last couple of years? It's the exact opposite.

It seems like someone in the show's production is backing the sml (it's such a weird thing but cdramas have this thing where if someone has a powerful agency or a backer they might get a lot more screen time/focus and actually have the capability to change the script even if they're secondary characters in the plot) and some people are speculating that's the case here.
