I'm really liking this, it has its flaws, the biggest one being the politics and dialogue are too simplistic but the leads are great, the secondary characters are interesting and the story doesn't have any major plotholes.

They need to stop playing and film 2 or 3 seasons back to back which would be like 16 one hour episodes as in the length of a normal drama and they can split it then, if they keep doing it like this, we're never going to get the rest of the story, because the actors will move on and out of all kdramas I think there's literally ONE who's had a third season and very very few who've had a second...

I really hope they get the third season they wanted, these two are the most iconic sageuk writers in kdrama history and we need them to make a lot more shows especially since we barely get actual sageuks nowadays it's just youth dramas in historical clothing. I need another six flying dragons...

This trend of cdramas where sometimes secondary characters get more screentime than main characters is so weird, I think I read somewhere that it's because of something behind the scenes, the actors have important people behind them or financial backers in the drama. Another reason why the industry is such a mess and why they really need to change the way they do things from top to bottom because they're capable of making amazing shows.

The 2 best dramas airing rn imo are Moving and My dearest, both of which are 20 episodes long. It shows how much value there is in taking your time to tell a good story, a lot of great dramas are 20 plus hours, reply 1988 , six flying dragons, cruel city, chief kim, hospital playlist, live, bridal mask, prison playbook etc. All this to say a one size fits all approach is a mistake when it comes to art. A story should get the number of episodes it needs whether it's 12 or 50.

Guys, one of the reasons the rating is so low is MDL changed the way they calculate them a while ago, it used to be based solely people's grading but now they factor in popularity as in how much people are watching a drama which makes no sense and should have no bearing on a show's rating but alas ... P.S This is from the writer who did Lucifer, memory and beautiful world, I would be surprised if it wasn't good.

One of the best love stories of all time. You believed these two would move heaven and earth for each other and they did. I wish kdramas would go back to giving us epic love stories like this one.

How is there not a single mv of these two on youtube? One of the best couples of all time, both so competent and smart and devoted and in love, the definition of badass.

I miss this brand of melodramatic romances, kdramas need to go back to their roots and give us real shows again.

For Some drama is not good but I watched some drama who has more than 40 episode and Some part was bit boring…
I agree but that's a writing problem, it wouldn't have been good even with less episodes I think. My problem is a lot of shows need that many episodes look at nirvana in fire or story of ming lan etc with 40 episodes they would've been a mess, all of the best costume dramas are 55 or more and they need that time because they're sprawling stories with a huge cast. It should be based on the story and what it needs .

These rules are so incredibly dumb. You can't enact a one size fits all policy on creativity and storytelling. I don't even mind waiting 12 months if it means we get a good story. The problem is no one is going to want to actually split their episodes so we're going to get dramas that were supposed to be 50+ episodes cut into 40 or less and we're left with nonsensical stories and writing that makes no sense because 20% or more of the show is missing. And since most cdramas are novel adaptations and many of them are very long, even the ones who plan for 40 eps are going to suffer bc they're going to have to cut so much of the story. With rules like this we would've never gotten the majority of the best dramas from nirvana in fire to eternal love. Truly the definition of play stupid games win stupid prizes.

Another victim of these stupid 40 eps/ 12 months btw seasons regulations, they were about to film so the script is already written and they have to cut it from 53 to 40 episodes. They're really doing their best to stifle any creativity and drive the industry into the ground.

I think the original story is complicated and doesn't speak to that broad of an audience. They were targeting…
My issue is if that's the story you've chosen to tell, shouldn't it be because you loved it and wanted to translate it onto the screen . That's the problem with these dramas, a lot of it seems to just be money grubbing with zero artistic integrity which is why so many of them turn out like this. They really need to value their writers more and put the script first.

I truly don't understand why they keep adapting these great novels only to butcher them irrevocably. I know they don't want to think of an actual plot by themselves but if you have a blueprint at least follow it while trying to make changes that better suit the tv medium?

For the people who actually read the novel, is 60 episodes enough to tell the whole story well? Because I remember people saying that the novel is incredibly long and 72 eps would barely be enough.

Are they not going to split it like they are doing for others? Or have longer episodes so the can fit it all in?
They were going to split it but new regulations said they'd need to wait 12 months btw seasons so they changed their mind, the regulations also said the episodes can't be more than 45 minutes so unfortunately that's not going to happen.

So this became 40 because of the new regulations. So we went from 50 to 46 to 40, so I'm sure the story and the characters actions are going to make sooo much sense...

Title Not Others Spoiler
Jin hee's father should have been told he had a child. It's insane that they're framing it as if them breaking up in highschool is somehow grounds for not letting him know he had a daughter for THIRTY YEARS and even now acting like he committed some major sin, he was a dumb teenager who made mistakes and deserved to have a relationship with his child. For a supposedly open minded drama, the way they're treating this issue is crazy... You can't just decide that a father can't know he has a child, same thing for Jin hee, what about her opinion?
