You know the drama landscape has drastically shifted when a fun romcom is a breath of fresh air instead of the norm. Just because something is darker and more "serious" doesn't make it better or more profound for that matter and we've had an astounding number of deeply mediocre and substandard thriller and crime shows over the last few years to prove it. We should all be aware by now that all that matters is the writing and the execution regardless of the subject matter or the genre.

But why Xu lai is angry with ML. 🤨🤨
I have no idea, it's frankly getting irritating he's being very manipulative and she's letting herself get played like a fiddle and the fact that it's most likely going to end with them all being friends after all the shit he pulled pisses me off even more.

I watched a preview for ep 22 and I cannot believe we're still dealing with the third male lead and his bullsh*t. I'm so tired, he needs to f*cking stop.

So far, so great! I am tired of people complaining about Netflix dramas, when half of them are incredible, and…
May I ask which dramas are you reffering to when you say many of the best dramas are netflix originals?

It has been a while since I've been so incredibly annoyed by a second lead, the audacity and entitlement are baffling, as if he's owed her love because he's been by her side for years, when the entire time he had hidden motives and their interactions were all based upon the fact that he was expecting something from her in return either now or in the future, the ultimate nice guy (tm). It doesn't help that the person portraying him unfortunately imo can't actually act so none of the emotions and heartbreak he's supposedly feeling come off as believable.

Title A Date with the Future Spoiler
The amount of loss the ML has endured in his life is insane, the fact that he hasn't been crippled by grief entirely is a miracle in itself, losing your mother and father in the same night as a child and then losing your best friend and your dog, both of whom died saving your life. Not to mention he had to watch three of them actually die. I hope Xu Lai showers him with all the love and affection he deserves.

I loved this drama when I watched it but I have come to appreciate it even more in retrospect. You would think having fully realized characters with complex motivations set in a thoroughly developed fantasy world where the conflict makes sense would be something most dramas can accomplish at least somewhat adequately. Alas this drama is the very rare exception rather than the rule. Chinese productions really need to start respecting and investing more in good writers instead of almost always relying on big name pretty actors and actresses.

sorry but rich heir x bright fl kdramas will NEVER die out they will persevere and we will eat them up every time.…
Especially since we're getting less and less romance dramas, more so with tropes like these. We've gotten to the point where this trope has become the rare, novel thing.

Did I adore this drama? Yes. Did I think we deserved a fuller ending after all the pain and suffering? Also yes.

I think a lot of people fail to understand that romance is not less than it's just different from. A good drama is a good drama regardless of its genre and it's incredibly weird to see people denoucing the genre on which kdramas were built upon. Especially since the entire thing is deeply rooted in misogyny given that women comprise the majority of romance fans, and you see these kinds of reactions from people regarding romance across all media forms, including books, movies and tv shows, it's the unfortunate byproduct of living in a patriarchal society, it's drilled into our minds that women's interests are inane and vane while what men enjoy no matter what it entails is always celebrated.

I think we need to prepare ourselves for the possibility that this is the best we might get, I hate it since it has been quite a while since I've loved a kdrama like this and an such an ending will sour the entire thing but alas...

If the ending is just them looking at each other, someone is gonna catch these hands. It would literally take 5 minutes to give us a happy ending after all the pain and suffering. Don't call it a healing show and then give us an open ending, I don't want to imagine anything, show me the f*cking happy ending. https://twitter.com/iambethos/status/1643995194243809280

Everytime I rewatch this drama, I am struck with how it is absolute romantic perfection. A sweeping epic love story the likes of which we rarely ever see, especially in the last few years in korean dramas and especially one that completely nails its ending, utterly magnificent.

I love how everyone is so protective of Woo joo and Dong Jin in the comments section. It has been a long time since we've had a drama where both leads are such wonderful, beautiful characters that you can't help but love them equally and feel a very strong urge to cut a b*tch when someone hurts them. They deserve all the happiness in the world and I very much hope they get it.

I'M SO MAD AT THE SLAPPING PART IN THE PREVIEW WJ DOESN'T DESERVE ANY OF THIS
My blood was boiling, they should all be kissing WJ's feet for all the sh*t that she has done for them for so many years, like the audacity??? And poor WJ just takes it bc she's such a good selfless person, I would've slapped her right back and twice at that. She's acting like WJ committed murder or something when she knows her sister was hurt by the whole thing a lot more than her or her brother and she also knows that's almost 30 but she has never fallen in love like.... At least take five seconds to try to understand your sister who has sacrificed so much for you. I'm ranting lmao but I am just so freaking pissed.

That ep 13 preview is making me nervous. Also I don't think Hye song has a right to slap woo joo or tell her mom the truth about dong Jin when woo joo asked her for a little time. I get that it looks bad but how about a little understanding and compassion for the sister who has been doing everything for you and your brother, basically acting as a mother, never having or asking for anything for herself for her entire life.

On The Story of Ming Lan Mar 29, 2023
2018 was really peak chinese historical dramas, it gave us story of ming lan and and story of yanxi palace. Not only were they great dramas that utilized their 70 episodes very well, they also had two of the best female leads of all time, incredibly smart , fiercely protective of those they love, layered and complicated. I wish they'd get rid of this ridiculous only 40 episodes rule because while most cdramas could benefit from cutting down, it also means we're never going to get gems like this that chronicle a life and have so much depth and meaning and growth for their characters because they had the time and the number of episodes to do so.

Woo Joo and Dong Jin are utterly and completely the personification of “we deserve a soft epilogue my love, we are good people and we've suffered enough” and I so hope they get their soft epilogue.

Kinda expected it to happen
I mean I would assume they'd cut her out of their life completely and not interact with her at all, she's such a horrible mother he doesn't owe her anything.
